As Clyde watched, at least for a moment, the girl seemed to calm down... Though it did not last long... He supposed though that he of all people, could relate to this girl. After all, his life had been full of pain, trauma, betrayal by those he trusted... It was a small wonder he got along with ghosts as well as he did, his mentality was not that different from ones, even if he was still alive.
Though it did seem a small kernel of knowledge slipped, out, she was from Zeltiva, and had died with her parents... But it appeared they had not carried on also.
He was about to answer her, when she vanished... or sort of vanished... He could still see her a bit, or at least a vague outline of were he could see her to be... A sort of occasional flash of her image, but it was very vague and instinctive. But he had a almost instinctual idea of were she was, could see a few small things which gave him an general inkling of her location. This if nothing else, he could certainly attribute to his dealings with ghosts. His eyes were slowly getting better at noticing ghosts, even when they tried to not be visible. Though he did not doubt a greater spiritist would know exactly were she was and what she looked like.
As she fully reappeared, she seemed to have changed clothing. He was not even aware ghosts could do that... But apparently they could.
Her next words though were a confused mess, contradicting each other in each line... He had not been asking her to possess him, he had simply been stating the fact he had been before, since it appeared she was about to try to as she almost enveloped him with her soulmist. Why else would she do that?
Then she was entering him, trying to possess him, to take on his form, to overwrite his will. He pushed back by instinct, picturing him grabbing her in his hand inside of his mind, keeping her from taking control. As he did so, his body froze, locked into place as he kept her from acting.
But he could hear her words echo in his mind... Not spoken out loud. He did his best to answer, while clenching his jaw, unsure of what she was going to try to do, or if she was going to try and wrest control from him.
"I did not ask to be possessed, but don't think I am defenseless to it. We can either work together on this, and make it easier for both of us, or I can fight you tooth and nail for control the entire time, which would you prefer? Us working together sharing my body for the moment, or as foes?"
Her words did bring to mind a small bit... He had been right, or at least she agreed with him, that her parents were not ghosts... Which perhaps said a lot about her, and about the true circumstances of her death.
"You say you hate me... But we are not so different. Not really. Why do you think I understand ghosts as well as I do? It is because I have been just as wronged and betrayed by people, as you. Perhaps I still have a body, but that is all. It is instinct, the way my thoughts work."
"But you really want to know the sad thing... I could not imagine a instance of my dying, when I would ever not cling on, when I would ever let go. It just does not make sense to me why people die and do so, why there are not so many ghosts. Perhaps that is why I understand ghosts, and don't find you depressing. We are kindred in one sense." |
