Well, my name is Airil... always a good start. I'm completely new to play-by-post but I have been RPing for a number of years through IM and primarily SecondLife. I even ran my own RP (future dystopic) group for a short but fierce six months. Due to the rather time consuming nature of such live RPs and because of the difficulty I had finding other serious players/writers I thought I had left my RP days behind me, a sad fact for an addict such as myself. Happily, my husband gave me the idea of trying forums. I typed in roleplay forum and POP, there was Mizahar.

To say the least I am absolutely delighted to find such a unique and immersive world to play in, though at the same time I am thoroughly overwhelmed by the scope.

That being said, I am a writer in RL, trying to get that first book done... One of the four I've started will eventually be finished, I hope. I love fleshing out characters and writing stories but I love it even more when someone else is doing it with me. I don't seem to stick to any particular genre, letting the story premises guide me where they will. I fully believe that once a character is created, and allowed to grow a little, they will often take control and live their own life with their creator only necessary, from that point on, to continue typing out their story.

I generally play timid/anxious characters (for my main character) who, if they aren't actually a child, are very childlike in their innocence. I prefer to play as a support to other characters because I feel it really adds dimension to have visible connections to other people and it's usually easier for my characters to interact with the world around them when done so through someone familiar.

I'm still reading through the lore and building my character sheet but it shouldn't be much longer before it's all done and I'm ready to get my feet wet. I'll likely be back looking for ideas and feedback before I finish though.

The only problem I foresee, and the problem that has plagued me in the past, is that I am just as timid and anxious as my characters. It's a personal character flaw that I'm working on getting rid of but for now it sometimes leaves me on the sidelines when I'd rather be out on the field. So if you do find yourself in a position to interact with my character, please feel free. I'm likely just sitting around looking for someone to notice me anyways.

Welcome to Mizahar, Airil! I would advise you to come into chat while you're developing your character sheet. You can ask questions, meet players, and then you'll have some advance warning of how crazy we are... Most of us are ha-ha crazy rather than uh-oh crazy, but you know how that goes.

Anyway, keep me posted on your character sheet! I play Sam in Syliras, Hadrian in Zeltiva (though he's doing research in Sahova at the moment), and Ifran in Ahnatep.

See you around!

Bwaha! I have braved the chat and survived. However, if I'm not careful I'll end up sitting around in chat all day, thus why I left SecondLife, but I'm not really that worried.

I have a feeling I'm going to fit in rather nicely around here.

Welcome to Mizahar Airil. It seems Samael beat me to the chat advice. I hope you enjoy the site and like he said if you need any help most of the players are nice enough and knowledgeable enough to give assistance.

Please feel very welcome here. I think you'll find that almost everyone is incredibly friendly and approachable. We don't mind if you ask questions or need help. That is what we are here for. There's also a Character Matchmaker forum to find roleplaying partners.

Feel free to read the Starting Guide and Starting Package pages in the Wiki. :) Also, its overdue that someone plays a Konti that's a shy anxious person. I designed them to be very pacifistic and harmless, but we seem to have a game full of violent weapon's wielding ones.

So a nod to your concept from me. :)

Hello Airil!

You'll have lots of fun here and another Konti is a truly wonderful thing! If you'd like someone to write with, Satu is available for flashbacks :). Just send me a PM if you'd like.

And just so you know.. Satu is a pacifist too... or well, she was a pacifist, until life's little events took ahold of her and spun her around. ;)

Postby Airil on June 16th, 2010, 7:19 pm

Oh man, I am so excited now from everyone's friendly greetings. I have been working on my character sheet, devouring the wiki, and cross referencing all my ideas with the character sheets of other established characters, all non-stop since I woke up this morning. Even with all this time I still don't think I'll be ready to post it until tomorrow at the earliest. I'm a bit of a perfectionist in that arena.

I do have a couple of things to bounce out there for feedback, and will likely pop into the chat after a bit to do so once I'm done compiling a few more ideas, but in case someone drops in here before then...

First I'd like to fact check, I'm assuming that if a Konti is born on Mura, then they will be marked with a level 1 Gnosis for Avalis.

So far I'm not entirely sure what kind of gift I'd like to give her. I may just say that she hasn't figured it out yet, one of her many sources of anxiety. Though I am curious, if level 1 Divination marks only allows its bearer to see the past, then would any gift that relates to present or future be pretty much useless until a higher level was attained?

So far, I've decided the following facts (if my ideas pan out)
*that her mother is going to have been one of those wandering Konti. She'll have come back to the island for Airil's birth but then tromps back out into the world with her newborn in tow, never to be heard from again
*Airil's mother will have died at some point, leaving her to fend for herself
*Airil did not share her mother's love of wandering, a point of contention, but couldn't stop wandering after her mother's death because it was the only life she had ever known
*Airil probably had a run in with slavers, whether this is before or after her mother's death I haven't decided, but because of this she has developed a severe distrust of others and tries to hide her true race, though she's not very good at it... I was even thinking of having her gnosis mark growing from her right eye, see images...

I know they aren't very lily like at the moment, but I plan on going back in and fixing the marks later. More often than not, she would try to keep the mark hidden with a hood, scarf, her hair, or just plain refusing to show someone her right side.

Gosh, that's all I can think of at the moment... but I know I'll have more as I keep going. I'm sure I've already lost track of some things which is why I went ahead and compiled this bit.

Edit: I did remember something else! I haven't quite decided how old I'd like to make my character yet, whether she's still a child or nearly of age. I'll probably still make her pre-20 or very early 20s but I was wondering about the thoughts of the community. I didn't know if there was perhaps a minimum age. I'd say I don't like the idea of having to play all the way through her teen years if I start her at 12 or the like, but then I never aged up any of my child characters anyways.

Its a complete misnomer that Konti automatically get marked by Avalis. Sometimes Rak'keli, her sister, marks them instead. Sometimes they are not marked at all, and or can be marked by a completely different God or Goddess either at birth or later in life.

Its really all up to your individual tastes. Any marks need to be asked for permission from the help desk. But you can go any which way you'd like with your Pc.

A gift is really different than the Divination completely. Some are really small minor things, others are more major like the ability to see into someone's heart or know if they speak the truth. Some Konti even touch others and can see their crimes. It just depends on what bent you want to put on your PC.

Also, its kind of a waste of time to hide a gnosis mark from Avalis, if your a Konti... everyone in game and ic always assumes your a seer - even if you aren't! I've learned that from personal experience.

There's no min age, so play whatever age you'd like.

  • This pc is maxed out in Animal Husbandry, Medicine, Observation, Rhetoric, and Socialization.
  • Kavala a Master Teacher. Students she is teaching in thread can earn more than the maxium 5 XP per thread.
  • This pc has a Konti Gift of Animal Empathy. She has a superpower from a Riverfall city event that allows animals of all sorts and Kelvics (in kelvic form) to speak clear understandable Common around her.
  • Kavala is a Konti but was raised in the Drykas culture so her accent is entirely Pavi though she can speak Common, Pavi, and Tukant well. She's only conversational in Kontinese.

See, I thought I might be mistaken, but that's why I checked.

Kavala wrote: Any marks need to be asked for permission from the help desk.

And I definitely plan on seeking permission first.

I know it's probably futile, but she'll go to some lengths to hide the fact that she's Konti so she has to at least try to hide the mark, assuming it is approved, it's just one of her character quirks.

A definite thanks, in general terms, for your response. :) I'm sure something'll come to me as far as her gift is concerned. If not, the not knowing (or perhaps not recognizing) could be an interesting character feature to play with.
