"It's a natural defense mechanism," Aren informed the drykas with a sly smile, all too aware that his charm tended to dial up in clutch situations. It was a reaction to an upbringing with a mother who was extremely stringent, yet who also possessed a weakness for improvised adorableness. Continuing on with his work, the akalak noticed that Titus and Aleksi had quickly gotten over the incident, as well. The pair seemed to know each other well enough that a matter like this was easily resolved with a hug or a smile. Halting behind the two, as they entered hold of the ship, Aren couldn't help but envy the simplicity of human relationships. No having to worry about an entirely separate personality in the mix. No being concerned that the difference in their life span meant one will see the other grow old and die before their very eyes. He could stay in touch with these two humans for the next half a century, Aren mused, but they wouldn't last much longer after that. It was, frankly, an upsetting notion, one he lived with every day. His long life was as much burden as it was gift, the akalak knew, having realized this fact long ago. Still, on some days, he could almost forget it.
