Xiulachu Falliron 46th of Spring 513 AV All the unique smells, some good some bad, of the city had come back to Xiulachus memory as soon as he stepped through the gates of the grand city of Syliras. Though the last time Xiulachu had come to the city he had been much younger, in Kelvic standards. In Human standards Xiulachu had not been to Syliras in two years, but in the two years that Xiulachu had been in a strict self training regiment he had forced on himself since the death of his parent he had grown around sixteen human years in appearance. Through the winding city back alleys Xiulachu went with a great vigor for he had no great love of cities. The thought of actually living in such a city seemed as foreign to Xiulachu as sleeping in a cave every night would be to a Svefra. Though he had not been to the city in near two years and in such a long amount of time he had not the memory that would be useful in finding the location he was interested in. The building where his father had taken, a barely one year old, Xiulachu was his destination for his father had shown him a masterfully crafter cross bow that was attached to a glove and was small enough to be concealed under his cloak yet deadly enough in its use that it became a useful tool in his survival, and the survival of his family. As Xiulachu made his way through the many passages of the city and trying to remember the exact location of the shop Xiulachu seemed to remember instantly when he looked in front of him to find his destination was merely forty feet in front of him. The sleek design of the finely crafted wooden house that held within it an extremely skilled merchant by the name of Kalvin Wilde; A man who was the creator of the crossbow that Xiulachus father had wielded. Inside the store that seemed to also be a work shop by the way things were scattered here and there when Xiulachu looked through the entry room to the different rooms in the back of the store. Behind a counter in the middle of the store stood a peculiar man that could only have been Kalvin Wilde and just to his right, on the very same counter that Kalvin stood behind, was a chicken. No, a rooster, to the untrained eye, or anyone who really didn’t care, the rooster could be mixed up and mistaken for a hen. Though Xiulachu had a surprised facial expression at the sight of a chicken on a counter in a store, he suppressed the show of emotion enough to be hardly noticeable by one who hadn’t known Xiulachu. Looking up and seeing that a customer had arrived in his store, Kelvin quickly stopped what he was doing to look up and see a plan clothed man with a decently sized pack on his back and, with the glimmer of the light, a dagger could be seen on the mans waist. “Hello and welcome to my shop. My name is Kalvin Wilde, I run this shop.” Kalvin said as he pointed around his shop with one finger on his right hand. “As you can see behind me I have a wide selection of different bows, arrows, cross bows, bolts and any other archery item that you may need. I also have a range for you to test your bows and crossbows.” Though the speech had been practiced many times over during the many years he had been selling his wares, Kelvin always felt like he was speaking in another language when trying to sell his useful bows to the people of Syliras. The obvious showroom that Xiulachu had walked into was full of many different items that ranged from sturdy longbows to crossbows that Xiulachu had not the strength to pick up. Looking around and listening to the owner of the store talk to him, Xiulachus eye caught sight of a very unique looking crossbow that brought back memories of a very similar crossbow that his father had shown him many times. Just looking at the crossbow brought painful memories that Xiulachu never liked to relive. After seeing that the shop owner was done giving his speech, Xiulachu began to make his way to stand just in front of the barrier separating the two men. After pointing towards the item that had so caught Xiulachus curiosity, “I’ve seen a crossbow just like that one a few years ago. It was lost after the owner was killed by a savage monster and I have always wanted one just like it. How much.” was all Xiulachu was prepared to say as he pulled out a large pouch that jingled whenever it was moved. Kalvin saw what the strange man, who had yet to introduce himself, pointed at and also noticed that the item in question had been made just the other day and planned on selling it to some noble who had a deep pocket but by the sound of the bag that the strange buyer had produced from his pack, Kalvin decided to give an acceptable offer for the bracer mounted crossbow. “That item is worth no less than 85 gold mizas. I’d also offer you buy the hundred bolts I designed specifically for that crossbow.” Xiulachu had already thought of buying as many bolts as possible for the tiny crossbow he intended to buy. “I believe 95 gold mizas is suitable for the 100 bolts and the crossbow.” Xiulachu said as he pulled out the appropriate amount of gold from his pouch before putting the still heavy pouch back into his pack. Xiulachu placed the mizas on the counter in front of Kalvin who quickly took up the mizas in order to inspect them for their worth. Though they seemed to be real Kalvin couldn’t help but wonder where this man, who looked like a bum, came about the kind of money he seemed to be throwing around. After a moment of remembering that he hardly cared where the money came from as long as it ended up in his pockets. Kalvin swiftly moved around the counter to come in front of the crossbow that had just been bought from him and picked up a bundle of bolts that were small enough to fit on the crossbow with ease and handed them to the man who had just spent a pretty penny to buy the crossbow. When Kalvin handed Xiulachu the tiny crossbow mounted on a specially made bracer Xiulachu quickly put the bracer on his hand to test how it felt and to his surprise it seemed to go on smoothly with no gaps that would cause it to fall off easily. Xiulachu was also handed a batch of bolts that he quickly placed in a side pocket of his backpack to quickly secure the many bolts that would be easy to loose in the wilds of the Bronze Forest. Xiulachu quickly thanked the man and quickly walked outside to examine his new weapon further. italics = Kalvin talking bold = Xiulachu talking |
