30 Chimes after the 18th Bell, 79th of Spring, 513 AV

The Docks, an interesting location in the Fortress City that directly faced the Suvan Sea. It's the place where Sylirans do their business with the Svefras, mainly trading. It's a place where one could gaze at the beautiful blue sea, it's the place where... a translucent little girl could be seen sitting on one of the piers' edge. Her short child-like legs dangling above the waters and swinging back and forth, her ankle-length silvery white hair billowing with the wind, and a sullen expression on her face.

Ahaha... the sea... It makes no difference for me... I can just venture deep into its bowels and not drowning like most humans... Kouri oddly felt sad at that fact, the fact she couldn't drown and phased through the water made her feel inhumane. "It's cold... cold..." She hugged her own body and shuddered. In her ghostly state, she didn't have bodily warmth anymore and only cold and frost emitted from her dead 'body'. That's why she always seek warmth, whether it's coming from other people's body warmth, hot springs, or the blood she milked from her enemies...

Unfortunately, as beautiful as the ocean looks, it had no warmth whatsoever. Only Laviku's cold embrace spread out before her. "....." Kouri kept gazing forward, her eyes focusing on nothing in particular. She was wondering on why she was here tonight, perhaps she was bored with the Woods and wanted to visit the fated location where she first met Uleru the Otani.

"La... la la la~♪" With nothing better to do, Kouri started humming; befitting her role as a singer in her life. Her high-pitched girlish voice carried an eerie and haunting aura for those who heard it. It was strangely forbidding, but beautiful at the same time.

[The Docks] Echoing Waves (Edreina)

After a long day of docking and then helping the Cuttlefish unload, Edreina wanted nothing more than to sleep for a few hours on her deck before fishing for her dinner. So, when a haunting, childlike voice began to drift into her ears, there was a flash of annoyance as she was awoken, followed by a gentle curiosity that washed through her consciousness. What was a child doing at the docks at this hour?

In the short time she had been here, Edreina noticed the docks to be full of silent and subversive activity as people palmed mizas and goods between one another without so much as eye contact. Surely this was no place for a child. Sitting up, Edreina rubbed her drowsy eyes and began to peer about, searching for the child. Surely it was lost, no sense in being about here alone. If it was lost, she would escort it to a knight to be taken home. Now that she knew there was a lone child about, Edreina felt obligated to see to its safe keeping.

Finally, she spotted it - her. At the end of one of the piers was a tiny girl with the most pale hair Edreina had ever seen on anyone other than a Konti. And she was alone. Shaking the sleep from her limbs, the red haired Svefra stood and began to make her way over to the girl. In her haste, Edreina had not donned her city clothes, leaving her in her more natural linen chest bindings and simple linen undershorts. Her hair was also unbound and whipped about like a flame in the gentle but constant wind.

As she drew closer, something in Edreina's gut formed an uncomfortable knot. A sense of foreboding grew until Edreina began to feel the sick trickle of fear into her veins. But what was to fear? Slowly, Edreina began to squint at the girl, thinking that her eyes must be playing a trick. But no. As she thought she had been imagining, Edreina could see the Suvan through the little girl. A ghost... her mind chimed fearfully. In all the old superstitious stories she had been told, ghosts were vengeful creatures who cared not about the lives of humans that interacted with them. Sometimes, they would be lonely and attempt to kill any human who ventured too close in hopes of creating a companion. But surely this poor, little lost soul would be different. Right?

Only one way to find out.

"Excuse me, darling? Are you ok?" Edreina's tone of voice was the same as if she would have been addressing a fallen child back on the Anchorage. She silently hoped that the little ghostling would not see a lone Svefra as a threat.

"La L-... hm?" Kouri stopped her singing when she heard the voice of a woman. Is... she talking to me? Kouri suspected there was no other people in this particular pier other than her and... whoever the owner of the voice was. Kouri flicked her hair to the right, the very long ethereal strands billowed like a white flag, the billowing motion lasted far longer for the gentle wind around her, as if her hair had mind of its own.

Kouri slowly turned her waist and head to the left to look at the person behind her. She then saw a woman with red-hair, bright eyes in the color of the Suvan, and a pale complexion though it was adorned with lots of spots.

"....." Kouri's mind immediately registered this woman as one of those Svefras, people of the sea. She tilted her head to the side in curiosity, she found the Svefra to be interesting, usually humans would just leave her alone out of fear and disdain; but this woman went as far as to call her 'darling' and asking if she's alright.

Perhaps she didn't realize I'm... not exactly.... human... Kouri couldn't deny her own ethereal state anymore. She was something that should not exist... a remnant of a Vantha that was supposed to move on, not stubbornly clinging to false life. Nevertheless, Kouri thought the least she could do was to respond, it was impolite to ignore someone who showed her concern for you.

Kouri beamed the woman a sad small smile and whispered in her haunting echoing voice. "Yes, Madame... I'm alright, just a little cold... that's all" Perhaps she could borrow some of this woman's body warmth... but she must know her better first.

OOCI just took a more in depth peek at your CS and my god! It is probably the most in depth and clearest CS I have ever seen. o.o good job!
Cold... So, she can't create her own body heat any more. But she can still feel? Edreina walked over and plopped down beside the ghost, toes dipping down into the comfortingly cool water. "Well I'm sure that the Suvan isn't the best place to warm up. Can't you go to a tavern? Enjoy the fires there?" She brushed her hair over one shoulder so that she could better look at the little waif. She seemed to be perfectly powder white save for red accents on her dress, vibrant crimson eyes and faint red remnants of... was that blood?

Edreina felt a pang of pity at the realization that the poor child died a violent death. But what could she do, apologize for something in which she had no hand? Even then, surely the child had heard it a million times over. Surely she was tired of hearing it. "If... if you need somewhere to stay, my cabin is shielded from the wind, it can be quite warm... if you need it," her voice was unsure and stuttering as a hand flew up to fidget with her hair, fingers automatically finding the shorter strand that she had given to her curious Otani friend the first time they met.

At the thought, Edreina wondered to where her friend had disappeared after the Svefra saw her flee the Cuttlefish during the voyage to Syliras, not even stopping to speak with someone who considered herself to be a friend of Uleru. She had not yet worked up the courage to ask Razkar what had transpired. But that was not what mattered today. Though, even Edreina did not know what mattered. She still had absolutely no idea what to do in this sort of situation.

OOCThank you, Edreina! :D I truly appreciate it. :)

Your CS is awesome as well! The time we spent to design beautiful CSes was worth it, I say. :D

"...." Kouri was quite astonished and relieved at the same time when the woman took a sit on the pier, right beside her. Her legs are quite longer than Kouri though, it was clear when her toes touched the water surface while Kouri's legs merely dangling over it.

"The tavern huh..." Kouri heaved a sigh and proceeded to drop down from the pier and 'stand' on the water surface, she then floated a few feet forward; facing the sea. Her form standing on the water surface looked like a twisted mockery of the Charoda or Otani, she slowly turned around her body to face the red-haired Svefra.

"I don't like the stares I got there, Madame... I just..." She rubbed her right arm with her left arm and looked down, a forlorn expression on her face. "I just felt out of place, you know... like a fish out of water..."

When the woman offered her to stay at her cabin, Kouri was thankful and truly appreciated it, but it didn't really work that way. "Thank you, Madame... I'm grateful, but.... how should I explain this? Hmmm... when I'm indoors... I noticed my presence dropped the temperature of the particular room..." Kouri knew this from personal experience, whenever she went inside a room; the occupants would sometimes shudder at the sudden change in temperature. "So, ehehehe... I would just make your cabin cold, like me"

"However..." Kouri then floated closer back to the pier and flew up, positioning herself to be hovering in front of her. "You can...give me warmth..." With a whisper, she materialized her body and extended both of her hands. "Your body..." Kouri then cupped both of her hands to the woman's cheeks, sucking her body warmth while giving her frost touch in return. "...is warm... aaah~ so warm~" Her eyes were glazed over as if she was in a hypnotic trance. The Svefra would feel chilling cold touch, but no physical harm would come her way as Kouri didn't intend to harm her; she merely wanted her body warmth.

When the little spectre began to leech Edreina's warmth, the woman had to fight the urge to run. The tingling, piercing cold was unnatural to her always sun-warmed body. Such cold was usually wet as well but this cold was dry. Dry like the inside of a ship that had been closed for too long. With the undead child so close, Edreina realized that she could faintly smell death, blood, as if the nonexistent form was able to hold the scent, if nothing else.

Closing her ocean eyes, keeping herself calm until it was over, Edreina leaned a bit closer so that the poor child could take some warmth. If this was all that she could do, Edreina hoped that it was enough. In the moment of silence, Edreina wondered how the child - she could not keep calling her that... "What is your name?" Edreina wondered how the ghost had met her end, and why she had not yet moved on to whatever afterlife awaited them all.

But the Svefra did not know the ghost well enough yet to ask such personal questions. Perhaps after she was warm, the little spirit would open up a little, fill in the mystery.
OOCMy mind completely goofed on what to write. xD

"Eeeeehn~ Ah!" Kouri's eyes snapped open from its trance, she realized that her act could be seen as impolite and retracted her hand; the comforting warmth dissipated almost immediately and Kouri heaved a sigh in her mind. "U-uhm... I-I'm sorry, Madame..." She bowed, lifted her head, and fidgeted with her hair ribbons, showing her nervousness.

The red-haired woman didn't seem to mind though, she looked calm and composed. ..... Kouri was silently grateful that this woman did not seemed to mind her touch, but nonetheless; she was guilty of touching the woman without her permission. "Ah... uhm..." When the woman asked her name, Kouri was hesitant at first; but then realized that she had the audacity to invade her personal space, the least she could do was be courteous.

Kouri floated a few steps back from the woman, floating just a few inches above the water surface. She looked like a powder white ballerina standing on top of a stage, with the sea being her dance floor.

She then lifted the hem of her dress and bowed slightly, curtsying to the Svefra. "An honor to meet you, Madame. My name is Fubuki Kouri" She slowly lifted her head and politely smiled at her, "But you can call me Kouri~". Kouri hoped that her noble-like introduction was enough to put the woman at ease. "U-uhm... if I may humbly ask... may I know your name, Madame?" She wanted to know the scarlet-haired woman more. The woman approached her on her own after all, unlike most humans who avoided her just because of her race.

The way that the girl introduced her self was unlike anything Edreina had ever heard. Is that how a noble would introduce themself? she wondered, having never met a true noble herself. It was nice, though, to be given her full name and then allowed to call her a shorted form, it showed the Svefra that this spirit was not outright malicious.

"My name is Edreina, Edreina Whitewave." She grinned and nodded her head in greeting, not the sort to stand up and bow or curtsey or whatever the heck it was that was expected of a woman. "But you can call me Reina," Few actually called her by this preferred nickname, Edreina realized. Most ended up creating their own shortenings such as "Edri", "Ina", and once... once "Eddy".

"So... what are you doing here?" Edreina asked, hands tucking beneath her legs for warmth. She blushed abruptly as the innocent question could be easily interpreted as a quandary as to why the ghost had chosen to remain upon this plane instead of reincarnating, instead of seeking another life. "H-here at the docks, I mean. You seemed to be admiring it- the Suvan." The woman shook her head in a flurry of flashing red, wishing to banish the growing blush. The Suvan was, surely, a safe enough subject. And something that the Svefra could pour over for hours.

"Madame Edreina~ Ehehe~ It's an honor to meet you..." Kouri giggled and vanished from her location above the water, she then instantly appeared in a sitting position next to Reina's right. "Hmmm... you want me to call you Reina? Okay then, Madame Reina!" She beamed the woman a happy smile and swung her dangling legs back and forth.

I... think she wouldn't mind now... Kouri materialized herself and held Reina's right hand with her left hand, relishing again in her warmth. "Eh? What am I doing here?" Kouri tilted her head in curiosity, she wasn't really sure herself; but she would make up a reason or two. Before she could answer, Madame Reina quickly elaborate the meaning behind her question.

Kouri kept smiling and waited for her to finish, but a question was forming in her mind. Ehm... is there any other meaning to your question, Madame? I think it's obvious enough Kouri didn't dare to actually ask her the question as it could be seen as impolite.

"Hmmm... well~" Kouri put her right index finger to her chin, thinking. "I love the Suvan! It's beautiful~ A perfect place for me to sing! And oh oh! I also met various interesting people here! There's uhm... Madame Uleru the Otani! She's a very strange person, she looked like some kind of... uhm.. living water. Do you know about her, Madame Reina?" Kouri returned her gaze to the sea, flashes of interesting sights and people she had seen in the Suvan played in her mind.

"And uhm.. oh yeah! When I was flying across the Suvan, I saw many ships clogged up together! I know they are called uhm... the Flotilla, right? Your people, the Svefra, lived there if I remember correctly. I also saw a rather strange Svefra though, ehehehe~" Kouri quickly turned her head and gazed at Edreina in the eyes.

Kouri's crimson eyes were open wide with interest and excitement. "That Svefra was... full of tattoos and stuffs on his body! He also has a bronze-skin color! Ahahaha~ His tattoos looks funny! I wonder if I can meet him someday~ Can't hard to miss that kind of person... Perhaps, do you know about the tattooed man, Madame Reina?"

Perhaps, do you know about the tattooed man, Madame Reina?"

Edreina snorted and shook her head. Such a description could only describe one person. "Yes, I know about the tattoo'ed man." Her grin was full of countless shared moments, some good, some bad, some painful - her ribs twinged at the beating he delivered. "He is my friend, Razkar. And he is not Svefra, but Myrian, from the jungles of Falyndar." She brought up one foot, allowing the other to remain dipped in the sea. "And you could have stopped by. The Anchorage is always open to outsiders. I'm sure you would have found it to be very interesting." Edreina smiled at the spectre.

The day, hell the past few days, had been long and a bit rough on the Svefra after so long laying idle upon the Anchorage. The woman felt haggard and worn to the point that she needed hours of sleep and a day of rest to recuperate before charging headfirst into the fortress city. "I'm sure that you will meet Razkar at some point while he is in the city. He tends to attract quite a bit of attention," she said with a melancholy smile, standing. She had been one of the likely countless unlucky women to have their attention drawn by the dark skinned warrior. Even if her interest was a bit more simplistic than that of other women. "And I'm sure we will see one another again. But... I'm afraid that I must retire for the night..." Her words were stretched by a lingering yawn.

"Goodnight, Kouri," she added with a small nod, turning to head back to her ship.
