Blue Moon(Tsukiko)

Spring 11, 513

The moon was low in the sky to the west- it was near dawn now,and its soft pale glow peeked through the sparse foliage that was just starting to bloom as the world woke up from the long, and chill winter. There was swift scurrying in the otherwise calm and quiet night. The whole forest seemed silent except for this single flurry of noise, as if all the creatures knew that a hunt was in progress. A man, in worn, dark clothes, swiftly followed a path, a path that had been carved through the undergrowth by a deer. The soft reflection of a shiny liquid, seemed to glare on the trees, the man used his small powers of Aurisitcs to make the faint energy left in the blood to really make it stand out in the dim, and fading moonlight. It made tracking in the dark easier, but it made the man very tired. He cursed himself for having to use this power. He should have been able to bring down that deer, it was an easy shot.

He kept running over the thick brush, his constant training for nearly 16 years made this pace almost easy. He lost track of time, all his concentration on the chase, the thrill. He didn’t have time to notice how far he had run, or where he was, the only thing that mattered was the deer, that seemed to get further and further away, no matter how much he ran. No, he couldn’t afford to let his mind wander from the hunt.

Then he saw the deer, its soft, weak aura, a mere feet away. The hunt was over, there was his quarry, on the verge of death. The deer struggled to get up, struggled, and fought for life, the life that slowly slipped away, ironically the more it struggled, the sooner it would cause its own demise. Rodywyn would end it quickly, he owed the deer that much. He hated to see the pain it was in, even if he had caused it- people needed to eat. He quickly neared the deer, his pitted and tarnished, but noticeably sharp hunting knife at the ready.

Tsukiko had just parted ways with her new friend, Eida, and was making her way back to Syliras; more precisely, the Northern Shore where her catamaran was beached. Her footsteps were light, as she hummed a improvised tune, it's melody drifting softly in the still mostly dark, dawn. Walking around a bend in her path, she froze at the scene unfolding before her. Not to far from where she stood, was a deer struggling to rise, though it appeared to be weakening more quickly because of it. Then she noticed the arrow sticking out of it's flank, not too far from the dying creature's shoulder blades. Though she had nothing against eating meet, seeing the rolling whites of the creatures eyes struck her as terrifying, finding herself sympathizing with the animal. However, there was nothing she could do for the dying creature, and just then, she heard someone's quick footfalls; presumably that of the hunter's.

Temporarily forgetting that she was no longer in her celestial form, Tsukiko hid in some brush to the side of the path, hidden from sight from the the dense, spring foliage, but still keeping the prey and it's hunter in her line of vision. He carried a pitted and tarnished knife at his side, most likely a hunting knife, and also carried a short bow, strung. Tsukiko watched, her blue eyes wide, as the man approached the struggling deer, which was now so weak that it had seemed to give up, laying in the path, while it's blood ran from it's wound, flanks rising and falling quickly as it struggled for breath.

It was not as if she had never killed an animal before, having had to fish to eat with on the see, but there was something about the deer's large, dark eyes that made her heart ache, as the man put it out of its misery. Tsukiko kept to her hiding place, observing as the man went about his prey. She noted that he had dark, curling, brown hair, and skin that seemed rough and worn, as if he spent much of his time outdoors. His clothing was dark, and also worn.

Blue Moon(Tsukiko)

Rodywyn sighed, the hunt was done, and the energy given by the adrenaline was wearing off. He could feel the exhaustion from the long run, and the drain caused by using his auristics. The knight quickly saw to his kill, starting the long, and gory process of field dressing the deer, them he cut a small notch in the tendions on the deer’s rear legs, and strung a rope through them. He looked around briefly before finding a good tree, and tossing the rope over one of the sturdy lower branches, then he tied to the rope around the tree.

He looked at the moon, it would be dawn soon, but the hunter was too exhausted to continue his work just yet. He pulled his half- hatchet out of its holstered pouch on his pack, then the slid off his back, and set it on the ground gently. The pack was worn, like the rest of his gear. The man stood, up, and began to gather wood, making small circles around the tree where he hung the deer. He gathered small, dry sticks, none wider than his finger. As he continued his circle, he suddenly stopped. Something had caught his eye, and odd shape, just out of view.

The wasn’t natural, but it was obscured by the dimness of the night. Rodywyn’s hand went insticntivly for his sword, and he dropped into the combat stance he had become so familiar with, a stance that had been drilled into his head for nearly 15 years. He was too tired to risk using auristics, he had to hope that the creature hidden in the bramble wasn’t too dangerous.

She watched as he hung his catch, and vaguely wondered if it was to drain the creature's blood. 'Ah... petch..' she thought to herself as the hunter noticed her presence. Tsukiko had thought that she was relatively well hidden, but then again, she was not used to the land, and if she thought about it, it would have been strange if he hadn't noticed her. Though she had her crescent blade at her hip, it was not as if she was very skilled wielding it. She wished that she had trained more with it, but for the moment, it was too late for that.

The Ethaefal waited a few more moments, considering her options; try to run and hope for the best, come out of hiding and hope that he wouldn't kill her, or just stay where she was and hope that he thought it was nothing and move on. Anyway she looked at it, it all depended on whether or not he thought of her as a threat. Muttering a small curse and prayer to Laviku and Leth, she rose and stepped out slowly, her hands raised and open. As she did so, Syna peeked over the horizon, shedding a scant few rays of light. "He..Hello," Tsukiko began hesitantly, "I.. ummm... I just happened to see, well," she gestured to his kill, "and didn't want to disturb you.." Internally, she winced, hoping this hasty explanation would suffice.

Luckily, she was in her earthbound form, and so, she did not have to worry about his reaction to the horns of her celestial form. "I was just on my way back to the city..." she continued, adding a small smile, to reassure him as well as herself at the same time. Her blue eyes flickered nervously from his face to his blade, cautious of this stranger.
