"My champion will send yours crying back to his mother's tits, Leo"

"Ahahaha! Really now, Kale? Isn't it the other way around?"

Two obviously wealthy man was sitting beside each other at the side of the Anthonius Fighter's Pit, sitting on their own fancy portable chair (carried here by their servants) and surrounded by able-bodied guards. Leo Valini and Kale Belmont, two of the most powerful Syliran moguls were watching what seemed to be two men facing down against each other.

It all started when Leo joked to Kale about literally putting their family name for a fight, Kale took it that he was serious and accepted the challenge, even suggesting to hire two champions, each representing their noble name. Leo just chuckled and went on with the large man's plans, he knew how Kale would not back down on anything he said.

So, there they were, in this hot summer days and reserving an area around the Pit for these two men to take each other down. "Mine's Kreig Messer, a squire of the Order, you won't stand a chance, Kale" Leo chuckled, a smug look on his face.

"Ha! Some of the squires I saw were pitiful men who couldn't even stand up for himself, connection to the order does not determine anything, Leo. Actions does, that's why my business is far more successful than yours" In truth, Leo was one of the few competitors whose wealth rivalled him, not that Kale would admit that. "Go, Wade! Put that pitiful squire to the ground!" Kale shouted, determined to utterly decimate that smug look off Leo's face.

"Hahaha, let's just see..." Leo smoked his pipe and kept his calm.

OOC :
Alright! You can begin with talking to each other first as well, but I'll let you both roleplay your own fight out. I will keep watch and occasionally chime in with Kale and Leo's response, but feel free to keep going without me. ;)

Remember to not overplay your skill levels, gentlemen. Now... get out there and fight!

'I swear those two would fit in well with the Sun's Birth back home' Kreig sighed as he glanced at the two men who sat comfortably in the lap of luxury, looking down at the two fighters, literally and perhaps figuratively in the fat one called Belmont's case. Back home men like them wouldn't even risk leaving the comforts of their own homes guarded by heavily armed and equally trained guards 'And I see even here its the same' Both with well trained guards Kreig assumed, one would think they'd be left behind to protect their humble abode rather than accompany them in a city already heavily guarded by the knights and their squires.

He suppose he had to blame his own bloodlust and own bit of greed as he stood in the pit, having taken off his shirt earlier and tossing it aside, his gauntlets at his wast hanging by a small bit of rope. He loved fighting which was something that just seemed to be itched into his very soul, adding to that he was getting low on personal funds and despite the free three meals a day and a bed to sleep on, this brawler needed currency like everybody else and winning this would earn him a considerable amount.

He cracked his knuckles, the popping sounds giving a feeling of satisfaction as he then tilted his neck to elicit a similar sound. He slipped on his gauntlets after untying them from his waist, the dented metal having seen many a sword blade and the dry blood on the knuckles having come from many a face which caused him looked at his opponent, the one they called Wade. Kreig had to admit sadly that the young man, perhaps ten years younger than himself, didn't quite seem to have the experience. It didn't mean he would go easy on the lad, but he did wonder if the Belmont fool sitting on his large needed glasses.

Speaking of the Belmont fatty, Kreig's eye twitched when the fat ass called him 'pitiful' since this entire fight was a bloody bet between to rich gentleman, he couldn't wait to drag the fat one's name to ground but still gave Wade an apologetic stare 'Sorry boy, but I'm not going to let fatty here have the satisfaction'

[Anthonius Fighter's Pit] Nobles and Champions (Kreig, Wade)

Postby Wade on July 23rd, 2013, 8:22 pm

Wade worked his left shoulder as he readied himself for the fight. It was a little stiff from supporting his bow in his hunting expedition all yesterday and he suspected that he had also spent the night sleeping on it. He silently cursed the bow that had tired out his shoulder, though it and his cloak were resting back in his room.

Wade had heard of this opportunity and jumped at the chance to earn such a nice sum of gold for just a quick fight. Belmont had accepted Wade's offer to represent him as his champion despite the his obvious youth for reasons that only the fat merchant knew. Wade knew he had been eager enough and Belmont had looked rather approvingly upon Wade's weapon of choice; his heavy battleaxe. Wade was young and, though not a particularly strong individual, he was not a weakling.

Wade stretched his neck from side to side, popping it each way, and tried to mimic his opponent's knuckle cracking. The man before him was taller, older, lankier, and looked more experienced. The man had removed his shirt, revealing that he had some battle hardened muscles but without really giving up any defense by abandoning the cloth shirt. Wade silently appraised the man's iron gauntlets, noticing for the first time that he seemed to be looking towards those as his primary weapons.

He balked at the man's choice of arms. Surely it would put him at a disadvantage to try to brawl a man with a battleaxe? Wade was not eager to plant his axe into an unarmed and unarmored man's body but it seemed he would be expected to do so. From the stance of the man and the way he was looking down on Wade, it seemed that he would not simply accept his disadvantage and back down. Wade could only guess that the man was either very experienced or very stupid.

Wade picked up his battleaxe and rested it on his shoulder. Mister Belmont shouted encouragement to him, causing courage to surge through him, but the man across from him did not seem worried. He cocked his head as the man's eyes seemed to be sending him an apology. Wade grinned in response as he thought how much fun this fight might be if he could shatter that man's confidence with a few well-aimed, heavy strikes of his battleaxe.

"Good luck," he said. He walked forward cautiously but was prepared to leap forward and deliver a heavy overhead strike if his opponent moved to attack him. His experience in dueling with his sister, who had practiced against him with a longsword, was that his battleaxe was best served on the offensive. If he dished out heavy blows without allowing for a respite he could tire out the man's arms far before he tired out his own.

Kreig grinned at the youth, the boy seemed to be estimating him like he was doing to him. He noted the blunt battle axe and Kreig just grinned wider, blunt it may be but a blunt war axe is like a hammer 'It could still be very deadly' the Brawler thought, the youth held it with confidence, knew his away around using it perhaps 'But is it enough?' that was the question. The axe was heavy, required the use of both him arms. Kreig couldn't block the axe head, no that was foolish even by his standards.

Kreig had fought many types of people, ones with axes included, and the best way to deal with such foes is to absolutely not get hit. He had to avoid all the blows or somehow redirect them, he'd also need to grab part of the shaft that was just beneath the axe head 'grabbing that and delivering a good blow before he possibly yanks it free might as well guranteed victory.' Although a certain saying about best laid plans come to mind, Kreig hoped it wouldn't rear its ugly self in this battle 'Getting too close to him would help too, he wouldn't be able to use his axe proper then'

'Good luck' Said the boy politely. Kreig couldn't help but give a gentle smile before it turned into a maniacal grin as he calmly walked towards the youth who in turn was walking towards him. His eyes wide as he awaited the first blow to be thrown, not his own but the youth, to direct him into his own playing field.

[Anthonius Fighter's Pit] Nobles and Champions (Kreig, Wade)

Postby Wade on July 24th, 2013, 12:59 am

The man seemed content to calmly walk toward him and let Wade make the first move. Wade figured that he probably had the advantage with his axe and the man would look just to counterattack with his two weapons. Wade's axe had a longer range but would be much slower. He knew from dueling with his sister that he would need power and precision behind his strikes to keep a faster, weaker weapon from sneaking in and striking him.

He was comforted somewhat with the thought that if he landed his axe anywhere on the man's body the fight would be well on its way to ending. The axe was heavy and was made to put a lot of the wielder's strength behind each blow. Wade figured his goal would be just to connect with a good, solid blow. The other man would need to strike him in a vital area in order to end the fight abruptly.

Wade, brimming with confidence and goaded on by the fat merchant, took up a sudden charge at the man armed only with gauntlets. He stopped just at the edge of the range of his axe and swung downward, trying to transfer as much of his momentum into a heavy downward swing. Sometimes that powerful, jarring move had been enough to knock the blade out of his sister's hand. He could only hope that it might break down the defenses of this one as well.

Confidence, an all important aspect to succeed and survive in life, too little of it can mean misery or death....the same goes for too much of it. Overconfidence can lead to cockiness, cockiness can lead to underestimating your opponent especially when they believe that their sole advantage guarantees them victory. The fat merchant only fed that boy confidence, perhaps laughing at Valini for accepting the 'unarmed' squire as his champion, but Valini was no fool. Kreig was certain the merchant saw something in him, how else would he accept such a man who fought without a weapon? Or perhaps he didn't quite care about this rivalry with Belmont, seeing this as entertainment to pass the time 'After all, what was 300 mizas to a successful merchant?' Kreig thought.

The young man, Wade was the name that blowhard shouted out, charged forward at full force. As what little distance remained was soon dwindled, the youth brought down his axe in full force 'One solid blow to win it all, eh lad?' but it was not to be as Kreig performed a little spin, the axe blade narrowly missing the risk-taking brawler, one of his arms outstretched as he attemped to backhand the back of the lads head and if that missed he'd knee him in the abdomen then grab the back of his head and slam it into the soft sandy ground.

"Yeah! Crush him, Wade! Kill him! Decimate him! Hahahaha!" Belmont was practically dancing on his seat, pumping his fists at the fight before him. He was sure that the axe-wielding young man could send the older unarmed squire back to the dormitory where belonged. He would tell the story of his victory to Isabelle, his beloved only daughter, later when he came home.

"Hmmm..." Leo just smoked his pipe and exhaled the smoke in a calm manner. His champion might be unarmed and older, but who said older means weaker? Older meant that one mostly got more experience than green young lads and Leo saw that in the brawler's eyes, eyes that told countless stories about surviving numerous life-threatening situations. Not a single doubt in his mind that Kreig could put the axe-wielder lad to where he belongs... on the ground.

[Anthonius Fighter's Pit] Nobles and Champions (Kreig, Wade)

Postby Wade on July 24th, 2013, 3:32 am

Wade hit the dirt. He used all of his limbs and all the strength he could muster to thrust himself forward and back up. His head hurt and his stomach ached, but his legs worked furiously to restore his balance and give him some distance between himself and his surprisingly quick and agile opponent. He swung about and brought his axe up as quickly as possible between himself and the Valini champion.

One second his axe had been swishing in to deliver a devastating blow. The next, the man had spun out of the way, hit him hard, and thrown him into the ground. Wade spat out some dirt as he reassessed his opponent and how much of an advantage that he really had. The man's experience, Wade now guessed, far exceeded his own.

Wade weaved his battleaxe in front of him as he decided to let the man make the next move. He had seen masters defeat their pupils simply by dodging and counterattacking and he was not going to fall into that same trap.

Though he knew now that he was the one at a disadvantage, he knew that it would only take a few solid blows with his battleaxe to bring the brawler down.

'Good, wisened up ' Kreig grinned lightly as he place a hand behind his head and scratched. To be honest he felt like a bully despite the young man knowing how to wield that heavy axe, he jumped back to place distance between himself and Kreig with the axe raised. He chuckled lightly as the youth spat out the bit of dirt. Kreig was certain now that the youth lacked real combat experiance, at least against fighters like himself 'Wonder where he learnt how to use one?' The pit's history wasn't long so he doubted it was here.

He was cautious now, perhaps he'll only attack when it takes too long or when goaded 'And whats a fight without banter?' Kreig thought as he knelt down and played with the dirt, humming a bit before glancing at the lad "You can leave now boy, I believe I already won" He taunted with a cheeky grin " The sand makes a more decent playmate than you, so He'll be Mr. Belmont's new champion " A riled up opponent could a be dangerous thing, but it can also make an axe wielding youth a very easy opponent, he just hoped he takes the bait.

"HMMMMMM?!" Kale was obviously brimming with anger now, his plump face fuming red and figurative smoke went out from his ears and nose. "Come on! Get up! Send him back to his mother!" Kale was shouting to boost Wade's confidence further, but it sounded like he was only concerned about his own bet with Leo. "Get that axe swinging and knock him to Ravok already!"

"Heh..." Leo exhaled a thick puff of circle-shaped smoke after inhaling his pipe, a perpetual smirk on his face. In his eyes, Kreig was obviously going to win this fight and he would rub it off Belmont's face as soon as axe boy declared surrender. He didn't make any comments at all for he knew calmness and tact beats recklessness anytime of the day, this squire got enough hot-blood in him, Leo didn't need to fuel that further. He could handle himself just fine.
