Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

Looking Up From Underneath (Jorin Ertihan)

Rinya blinked and turned to face Jorin. For a moment, she wasn’t quite sure what she had said that set him off. He was at a loss of words… and that was quite the feat for her if she left him that speechless. Only when he started to assure her that she was not a pet did she realized what he was so upset about in the first place. But she should have known that his anger wouldn’t last long. He was laughing shortly afterwards and Rinya felt a little lost as to his mood swings.

"Why don't you just transform and fly home? If you tell me where you live, I'll take your things and deliver them to you. You must be tired; I don't want you to have to walk so far home. It's the least I could do to thank you for such a wonderful day." Glancing around, Rinya noticed that it was quite dark. She had two choices, take the chance to try and fly in the dark, hoping there was enough light to just get her by to the refuge, or she could simply walk it.

It was a hard choice really; she could be wasting so much energy on the change and trying to stay low enough to the ground to see. But the walk would take nearly three times as long, and she would be leaving Jorin to take care of not only himself, but her clothing. It took her a moment, but she shook her head and smiled at him softly.

”I appreciate the thought Jorin. And the words… it’s not all that unusual to hear me thought as such. But flying in the dark would be too dangerous.” She pointed to one of her golden eyes before shrugging lightly. ”They are not meant for this kind of light. It’s one of the fortunate perks of being Kelvic. I can see as well as my bird form, however it leaves much to be desired in the dark.”

Before she could lose her courage, Rinya stepped up next to Jorin. Placing one hand on his shoulder, and the other right over his heart, she leaned up and pressed a quick but firm kiss to his cheek. Blushing brightly, she withdrew slowly, and started the walk down the street that would lead her back towards home.

Looking Up From Underneath (Jorin Ertihan)

Jorin's hand crept up to where Rinya had kissed him. In truth, he'd not had the best of luck with the opposite gender. Many of both genders found him tiresome, and those who didn't just found ways to ignore him. A part of him wondered if he didn't become an actor to get people to notice him more, even if it wasn't always the true Jorin they saw.

Jorin stood there, watching Rinya's retreating back, and remembering the feeling of her lips against his cheek. It had certainly been an interesting day. Then he sighed. She was probably just saying thank you in her way, and for lack of words decided to do so by action. He'd learned long ago not to read too deeply into other people's actions. Nevertheless, he had a strange feeling, as Rinya's figure disappeared into the night.

For some reason, he was absolutely sure they would meet again.

Chuckling at himself, Jorin took one last look at the night sky. The stars glittered, almost laughing with him. He smiled back.

Time to go home.
