While Sylira is by far the most civilized region of Mizahar, countless surprises and encounters await the traveler in its rural wilderness. Called the Wildlands, Syliran's wilderness is comprised of gradual rolling hills in the south that become deep wilderness in the north. Ruins abound throughout the wildlands, and only the well-marked roads are safe.

The sound of the waves lapping on the beach before her was soothing to the ears of the tall wizard as she strode through the sand, her gaze staring far into the horizon. It was a day like any other and yet it was entirely different. It seemed more calm than usual and she herself felt oddly at ease with the world around her, her normally troubled thoughts quelled by the calm of the day and the rhythmic waves. Anna considered this to be the perfect spot for todays exercise so she carefully unclasped her cloak and slipped off her boots, her bare feet tickled slightly by the warm sand.

The wizard placed the weathered cloak down on the sand, creating a form of mat for her to sit on. She carefully sat down upon it, her breath escaping her in a slight sigh. These trips out of the city always had ways of leaving her drained from bells of travelling from the city. It was all worth it off course, to be away from the prying eyes of others and possessing privacy to use her reimancy. It was also a fair bit safer for using the full extent of her power, allowing her to utilize fire and lava along with earth. Perfection really.

The wizard decided to differ from her usual routine, at least for the moment. She did not glyph up her body, nor did she enter into meditation. That was because today was going to be very different in regards of how she was going to experiment. It would be as much an internal exercise as it would be external. The past few days had revealed an ugly truth to her, and that was how very little she actually knew in regards to her own powers. Certainly she knew the basics and some advanced concepts, but it had been a long while since last she had actually sat down and reflected upon her own power.

The tall woman sat cross legged, with both hands out stretched. Slow verses of the ancient tongue spilled from her lips as she focused the energy within her to both of her hands. Djed was forced from her very body and slowly began to generate around both of her hands, sheathing them in clear translucent liquid.

Res is the life blood of a reimancer, more important than air or water. It is the essence of who the wizard is, a piece of their very being. Through shaping this substance a reimancer gains power over the natural elements and mastery of the physical world.

Her mind was going through the aspects of reimancy as they existed, everything she knew and had learned over her years of practicing the powerful discipline. The woman's eyes were fixed upon the res, admiring the warm liquid as it shifted over her hands and caressed the flesh from whence it had come. It looked like a deceptively simple thing, but the power she could wield through it was beyond the scope of most mortal imagination.

Of course, the urge was always there, edging her on to expel more of the substance from her body. Euphoric visions of unspeakable chaos and destruction flashed through her mind, thoughts that couldn't help but bring a slight grin to her face. Those visions would be fulfilled one day, she would see to that. One day, she would pull the wool from the eyes of the fools of this world and show them the truth, that the truth of Rhysol could not be denied.

The woman pushed aside the visions and focused upon the res adorning both of her hand, her chanting still low. This was merely the precursor of the rest of the day to come.

Anna willed the res from her hands upwards, separating the glove of liquid from her flesh easily. She knew that control was absolutely paramount when it came to manipulating res, her own control was certainly not perfect but it was indeed formidable. It was not something easily acquired, it had been quite recently actually after her rather traumatic stint with overgiving and her view into the emptiness of the Void itself. Anna had no desire to hurry that end just yet, not before she had a chance to spread the end to others in Rhysol's name. So she needed control, as well as a discipline that guarded her mind from the temptations of overgiving.

The elements are a powerful force, they can give one near god like powers if manipulated the right way. If used poorly they can lead to the demise of the wizard fool enough to abuse them. The caster is not immune from the dangers of the elements merely because they can manipulate them. Giving too much Djed can and will result in your own destruction, or a fate that makes one wish for such an end.

Anna focused on the small ball hovering to her right, willing the res on the outer layer to ignite. Brilliant flames responded to the strength of her will and danced in the air before her, the heat noticeable. Fire had been her first element, her birth element and the one she more easily controlled. She aligned with it quite easily.

Fire. Fire is both life and death. It is capably of great healing but also great destruction. It is one of the most potent forces one can wield, wild, hungry, and devastating. To control fire is to flirt with Dira herself but also to stand with the Lifebringer.

Anna held her gaze upon the flame for a moment longer, before transmuting the inner layers and casting it out into the waves. Her attention then fell upon the ball of res to her left. Anna willed the outer layer to harden and condense until a ball of smooth stone hovered before her. This was her most recent element and the one that she had been struggling to understand for nearly a season, though no longer.

Earth. Earth is unyielding stagnation. It is a force of order at its finest, predicable, sturdy, set in its ways. To control the earth is to move mountains and to play with the body of Semele herself. Once moved to action, earth can both defend and destroy. A Geomancer can create marvels or tear them asunder with the right amount of skill.

Anna gazed at the smooth orb of earth a moment longer before willing its inner layers to begin to transmute, casting it into the waves as she did. The tall wizard, breathed in through her nose and out through her mouth after the task was done. She needed to calm her mind before attempting to manipulate more res without the aid of her focus runes. Meditation on the concepts was wise before continuing onwards in her training today.

The euphoria of casting made achieving calm slightly more difficult, but she had not used much and her reserves were still very much ready for use. The visions of destruction and carnage faded from her immediate thoughts, quickly becoming a mere dull throb in the back of her mind as the chimes moved on. The wizard closed her grey eyes and moved her calming mind to the concepts she knew to be true in regards to reimancy.

Res can attract elements one is attuned with, allowing for greater casting potential for less res production. The availability of the element can vary wildly depending on the location, it is wise for a reimancer to always know their surroundings before casting. The speed in which the reimancer can attack is also increased as the time spent on transmutation is taken from the equation entirely.

Res itself is a very flexible substance and can be exuded from anywhere on the body in virtually any form. Gaseous res possesses more stealthy uses and can be used to quickly incapacitate an enemy by transmuting the element from within the body. Liquid res allows for longer maintenance of control over the element by transmuting the substance in layers, mostly for projectile uses.

One must be careful with speedy casting as they run the severe risk of using too much res and going into overgiving. Knowing your limits is of paramount importance, careful casting is advised. In the event of combat one should always find a means of maintaining focus, either though incantations or glyphs if possible.

Anna's reflections allowed for better organization of the information she had discovered to be true over the course of her experience. It was certainly not every scrap of knowledge but it was an outline that formed the whole of what reimancy was about.

Anna stood from her meditation and stretched slightly, her mind set upon the idea of what a reimancer was supposed to be and what reimancy could do. Reimancy was, at the end of the day, a tool like a sword or a bow. It had its limitations and it had uses in certain situations, it was a dangerous tool and even a deadly one when abused. It was just a tool, a means to an end of what the reimancer wanted, whether it was creation or destruction. The limits were only what the caster was limited by their own Djed, learning how to do more with what one had was how the reimancer progressed. That was the true sign that one was learning, it was how one separated a true wizard from one who merely dabbled.

The young wizard brought her hands out before her, her chanting in the ancient tongue much more audible this time as she willed Res to exude in a liquid form from every inch of her body below the neck. The waves of euphoria slammed into her, visions of broken homes and corpses swimming in her brain. With some effort Anna pushed back the intense urge to exude more res and instead focused her liquid wrapping to detach itself from her body and move outwards. The wizard had never created so much res at one time, but it was needed for this exercise. The final force she could control.

The woman willed the res far from her body, allowing it to crawl upon the ground until it was between her and the lapping waves of the bay. The large pool of translucent liquid shifted and moved as her will set it to begin heating up to unimaginably high temperatures. The essence of both fire and earth was placed into the outer layer and slowly molten liquid bubbled into existence. The heat was blazingly intense but Anna had ensured a good distance between her and the substance would exist.

Lava. Lava is earth and fire evolved, the ultimate force of devastation and destruction incarnate. It is the fury of Ivak and the death of thousands, its power is not to be trifled with by any lest they fall to their own power. The pure destructive force of lava can destroy a city if used correctly and is one of the most difficult elements to contain.

Anna curled her fingers upwards and moved her arms up with them, playing conductor to the lava before her as she willed it to shift upwards and flow to her direction. She gathered her remaining willpower and pushed outward with her hands, sending a wave of molten liquid speeding down the beach. The wizard transmuted the remaining res within it and watched the wave connect with the waters of the bay.

Hissing steam rose from the water and the lava bubbled violently as it was quickly be cool by the waves of the bay. Anna loved the amount of power lava possessed, truly it reflected her desires perfectly. Had any foes stood in the path of the attack they would have quickly found themselves dead. The ingenious thing about the nature of its use was that it could be formed under the feet of enemies and then sent out against others so long as she possessed control over the res within. It was the perfect weapon.

Anna wondered however if the lava could be further refined to reach higher temperatures and possess more fluid flow. It would be inadvisable to attempt such experimentations at least until she possessed more control over res itself as well as a longer range. Besides, her efforts had left her tired and with a splitting headache, though that was nothing new. Anna had not intended to test limits today, however she felt that she had indeed tired herself out. She needed to rest a bit before attempting to return to the city later.
