Closed Of Pretty Things And Necessity (Rosela)

[Rinya]

Day 63, Season Summer, 513 AV

"Oh, everyone needs a fancy dress or two. You never know when you might need to look nice for that special someone..."

It actually took Rinya some effort not to snort at that idea. Granted, Rinya was getting closer to her bondmate—and Rhys was as persistent as ever, the idea of actually buying something nice to impress someone just never really occurred to her. But at the moment it didn’t really matter. She wanted the dress more for herself than anything else. Though if she had it her way, Rhys was never going to lay eyes on her in a dress.

”Only 1 gold miza? That is most certainly reasonable to me. I can’t imagine how long some of these dresses took you.” Rinya stepped away from the mirrors, smiling brightly at Rosela. ”I’ll take both of them.” Tilting her head slightly, Rinya glanced at the young Akalak still looking rather uncomfortable.

”Cute? Well… I guess he is. But he’s got a thick head. He’s nice enough, but the word no is simply not in his vocabulary. I’ve told him no pretty much every day since I got here. I think he’d take just about anyone for his first Nakivak actually.” Rinya stated dryly. Sliding back into the changing room, Rinya gently took the dress off and redressed in her original clothing.

”Hall of Stones?” Rinya blinked as she exited the dressing room with both dresses. ”I don’t think so. But I am fairly new to Riverfall, I only arrived earlier this season.” There were a great number of places Rinya had yet to see. ”Is that one of the science facilities… or something like that?” Rinya flushed slightly, a sheepish grin returning to her face. Her free hand reached into a pouch on her side. ”So… 2 gold miza then right?”

From Rinya's expression, Rosela guessed she was one of the many women in the city who didn't care to dress up for her man. In a way, it was understandable; with so few women in the city, no one seemed to need much help getting noticed. Show an ankle and they'd come drooling.

There was always a reason to dress up though.

Placing a hand to her chest, Rosela waved a hand modestly and soaked in the praise. "Thank you! I really just want everyone to look fabulous. So many people just throw on any old thing, and don't even think of the face they're presenting. People will walk in all, 'I'm not superficial; I don't care what I look like; da-da-da...'" She rolled her eyes and sighed dramatically. "But you can't deny a good first impression is important!"

"Rosela! You sure that shirt was linen?" Liana yelled out again, sounding very put-upon.

"I just thought since, you know, it was soft-" The young Akalak seemed reluctant to argue his point.

Leaning slightly to look around Rinya, Rosela called back. "I promise it was linen. Tell you what, if I'm wrong, I'll tailor it back in for free." Liana pinched her son hard and Rosela turned back to Rinya with a meaningful look. "Anyway, yeah, it's some kind of science hall. They display gems and fossils and...stuff." Leaning forward to lower her voice, she murmured, "I hear the gems are just gorgeous, but the rest of it's not my cup of tea. 2gm for the pair," Her voice returned to normal and she straightened, giving the shorter woman a smile. "Shall I wrap these up for you today, or do you want to just carry them home?"

Day 63, Season Summer, 513 AV

It was almost difficult for Rinya to keep a straight face as Rosela began to describe how most people didn’t care how they looked. For the most part Rinya fell into that category. But then she supposed if she had a reason to dress up it would probably look less like a chore and might even be fun. Though in Riverfall attention was one of the last things she really wanted. At least until she got herself somewhat established. If one could even call it that considering her status anyways. ”Well, first impressions are not exactly my strong suite honestly.” She couldn’t help the slight sarcasm in her voice. But it was true—she was known for snapping at men before they even got the chance to say anything.

Rinya tilted her head again to look back at Liana. The poor Akalak boy next to her just seemed so—uncomfortable wasn’t even a term to use. She bit her bottom lip slightly to keep her grin from spreading too much. Apparently she wasn’t the only one to make men around here squirm. ”Science huh? Well I do rather like shiny things…” Granted, her ‘shiny’ things tended to be glittery fish beneath the water, but Rinya could certainly appreciate the pretty stones as well. Though she wasn’t quite willing to admit that she wouldn’t be able to read anything on them. It would have to be a observation only kind of tour unfortunately.

”I’ll carry them. This was my last stop before home, and it’s not much of a walk. “ Rinya shifted the dresses over onto her right arm carefully and dug into the pouch at her waist with her left for a moment. In the back of her mind she counted out two Mizas in the palm of her hand and held them out to Rosela, before smiling gratefully. ”Thank you so much. I would have been lost without you. You’ll be seeing me again for sure.” Rinya knew she would have to stop by for more than dresses next time, given she would eventually need new work clothing as well.

With a small nod, Rinya adjusted the dresses in her arms and headed out the door. Deep down she was rather excited—she would most certainly have to ensure that she found a reason to wear the beautiful dresses. It was a must now.

Liana had apparently subdued her son as they moved through she shop, and Rosela kept half an eye on them as she totaled Rinya's purchase. They didn't appear to have many items yet, but Rosela was praying for a good amount of impulse buys. They didn't appear to happen often, but occasionally she got lucky with the pregnant ones.

Rosela made a small noise of disbelief and put two hands on her hips. "I think you were just wonderful at your first impression here? Trust me, I've seen a lot worse walk through my door." Catching herself before she could start babbling about what she'd seen this far, she reached out and took the offered mizas. "Yeah, check it out. Worth a look at least. It'd make a nice date..." She winked secretively, but didn't pursue the subject. The transaction was coming to an end, and Liana would be up shortly to make her purchase as well.

Making sure the dresses were well folded, she passed them over the counter. "Well, you have a good day then. If you get home and it doesn't fit quite right, you just come right back and we'll get it adjusted. Bye..." She waggled her fingers at the young woman as she turned and exited the shop. She was a cute one, and hopefully would see the light of looking pretty every day and not just on special occasions. She'd make a good repeat customer.

Liana appeared to have finished making her selections and her son held what appeared to be only a couple shirts and his mother's arm as she waddled up to the counter.

"Will this be it then?"
