Aka's Cave, Residential Wing, 20th of Bell, 40th of Summer 513 A.V
The Viper sat there on a chair facing a table, playing around with a stand of her hair. A book, brush, and a box in front of her. A frowned, serious, and not to mention, confused expression on her face. She picked up the book and skimmed through it again, mumbling words like "Glyphing", "Focus", and "Runes", an experienced wizard would know that she was reading something that was related to Glyphing, a branch of World Magic. With a groan, she put down the book again. "Why isss it soooo complicated?! Arrrgh!" She basicallly pulled at both of her twintails, frustrated.
Unlike Reimancy, glyphing requires "theory" in the same measure as "practice", one couldn't just throw res around here and there with Glyphing. One must learn to carefully construct a rune and determine what it was for. Aka had heard of Glyphing from Galbern before, but never bothered to actually listen to his lessons, she didn't thought she would need this "boring" magic, but now... with her current life in a Nest surrounded by Myrians, she needed every help she could get to boost her powers. She asked Sister Senescaaspia, her Boss, about what was the easiest (and safest) way to make her cast res faster and easier, Aspia gave a simple answer "Glyphing"... Oh by Siku, why it must be Glyphing?
Still, she better swallow her laziness and accepted Aspia's advice, so there she went to the Fence, asking for a book and essential items to draw her first rune. To her shock, this dusty old book about Glyphing costed fifty gold mizas! Aka almost face-palmed. Stil, she had no choice, it was a take-it-or-leave-it deal. The Fence's giant muscular Dhani body sure didn't help her poor excuse of a haggling attempt. Saying good bye to her poor mizas, she bought the book, along with a tiny brush and a pot of inscribing paint. Good thing this book was written in Common... probably a copy of the original written in Ancient Tongue.
Back to Aka's room. After some temple rubbing, Aka picked up the book and skimmed through it again, before settling herself to the beginning, containing the very basics of Glyphing.
"Glyphing is a discipline of world magic that allows the user to draw mystic runes and symbols, forming sigils and pictures. These runes have no power of their own, but can manipulate magic from another discipline, for example storing, releasing, channeling, deflecting or confining a spell."
Fair enough, Aka knew about that, her eyes skipped over the unnecessary history about it and found another interesting paragraph.
"Because it does nothing but affect other magic, it is not advised to take Glyphing as one's first discipline. It is better to learn something else first, and then take Glyphing to interact with it."
Now this is what she was looking for. She had her Reimancy and she would use this world magic mainly for hasting the process of exhuming res from her palms. Perhaps she would paint them over her eye-shaped scar marks, making them more pretty in the process. Blinking twice, Aka opened another page... intent on making her first basic glyph by tonight.
