The morning sun had risen fully, its bottom arc now completely separate from the world's horizon. The camp was already busy, with the women beginning their daily chores, men either coming in from a hunt or preparing to go out. Amid the Amethyst clan, there was a new flurry as the bright red headed new Drykas stumbles out of a tent. Uncertainty is something that reigns on her face, unsure of her place, unsure of her role in this new and strange people, Taylani carefully looks out over the area. In her hand she holds a water canteen, and she is obviously searching for something as she scans the area biting her lower lip.

She looks back over her shoulder at the tent, then moves away from the opening quickly putting space between her and it. A heavy sigh, and her free hand patting at her skirt to get it to lay down somewhat decently though after so long in not having any where to hang it properly the wrinkles seem to have set in permanently. Though the state of her dress was really nothing more then an empty idle thought, one that allowed her to shy away from the more confusing, dark, and frightening thoughts that tried to press in. Thoughts about her situation, her lack of control, or her complete and utter subjugation..at least for now. Already thoughts are forming in the former Dancer's mind, not wise thoughts, but thoughts, that only get stronger the longer she is trapped within. Thoughts of the open grassland, thoughts of freedom.

Rue was taking a day to make peace with the city once again. walking through areas both new and old, some little more than rubble and others standing proud once again. Her own home pavilion suffered only a few tears that were being repaired as quickly as able in hopes of the repairs being done before the cold really set in.

All the same Rue was feeling a little lost within her home, and hoping to make peace with it. Her walk seemed to leave her feeling no better and the question remained of how to come to terms with the new age of Drykas that was beginning.

She had no clue really, so her aimless path took direction once again this time towards work, a place where everything still made sense.

It was as she made her way through Amethyst pavilions that she saw the girl. The one who's features so closely mirrored her own. She stumbled out of a pavilion, looking rumpled and confused among the morning bustle.

Rue almost passed the girl, ignoring her would have been far easier, but so easily their roles could have been reversed... She stopped instead, signing a greeting to the woman as she spoke in common, "Hello."

Beginning a new Life

Taylani no longer jumps when someone speaks to her, a testament that she was slowly becoming used to not having walls surrounding and thus people were apt to walk where they will with no structure to keep them in certain areas. Not that Taylani felt as if outside of the tent of ..of Fallan there was need of privacy, but she was used to the structure of a city and not of a fluid camp. So when the girl speaks it is with a simple turn toward her, and a startled widening of eyes.

She had seen, of course, different colorings among the Drykas proof of their ever attracting and 'acquiring' new blood to their peoples. But the red coloring with fair skin seemed to stand out, if not because of the bright color but for the liability of such burn-prone skin in the open lands. Thoughts buzzed in Taylani's mind as she raises her own hand in greeting, the first of course wondering if this girl was considered Drykas, or if she was merely a captive. Even still, she shied away from the word slave. "Good Morning." She murmurs, blue eyes sweeping the other from head to toe.

Raising the other, the one with the water skin, Taylani motions around the camp. "I am looking to fill my water.." She stops, biting her lip as a flush raises again to color the already burned pinked skin there. "I stayed in a new tent..and I think I have gotten turned around.."

The girl looked surprised when she first caught sight of Rue, and for whatever the reason, she seemed to quickly dismiss it. She returned a greeting, 'good morning' and Rue recalled, too late, that it was a more appropriate common phrase for meeting early.

The woman's hand moved in a general way, gesturing out to the city with her wetskin, the common that accompanied the motion all but lost on the Drykas woman. A wetskin, however was an obvious indication of the other woman's want, and she recognized the common word for water as well.

"My common is... dirty." Rue finally spoke, searching for the right words and realizing that she had let her knowledge drift away on the winds by abandoning the language for speaking Pavi in her home. "But I can still-" No that was useless, she had no words to follow. She shook her head, chasing away the words. "Water." She spoke the word in Common, then again in Pavi adding the sign for it as well.

Frustrated she ran a hand through her hair, causing the silver charms to clink together at the motion. Slowly she signed the word for wetskin, pointing to her own at her hip and spoke the word aloud in Pavi, unsure of the Common word for it and again she spoke water in both languages.

Biting her lower lip, that looked a little puffy from perhaps a nervous habit of biting, Taylani looks hard at the other girl her brow furrowed. It was almost as if she thought that if she stared hard enough at the young woman that she would magically be able to understand her perfectly. However the gestures, and the Pavi word for water was familiar to her. She remembered only after the other spoke that it was one of the words that the older man who had received Fallan's money yesterday had offered to her. That memory caused a dark cloud over her face but she pushed it back.

Nodding eagerly, she too repeats the Pavi for water "Water... Water.. yes!" again faltering and hesitant, then repeats in common as well "Water!" A now-rare smile graces her lips only to be chased away quickly with a glance around. She nods again, moving the water skin in a general path in front of her, hoping to give the idea that she would follow. "Um, follow you? Can you show me?"

She moves further from the tent opening, toward the east and the rising sun though she is not sure if that is the direction or not. To this end she does not move far but only enough to indicate readiness to follow somewhere. Her body moves fluidly, one muscle after another that one can only find in skilled swordsmen ...or in dancers -often times both though this was not the case with Taylani who only held a knowledge of Dance.

Rue's face brightened, losing some of the tightness that had marred it only moments ago. A small laugh bubbled from her lips at the other's sudden animation, waving the waterskin in demonstration of a common word that Rue did recognize 'follow'.

She mimicked the motion, "Follow." The common word was followed again by it's Pavi counterpart "Follow." She made the girl's sign again, and then the Pavi sign meaning the same. "Show you. Yes I think- I can show you." She repeated the words of the other, unfamiliar common sounding awkward but clear enough from her lips.

The girl started to move away and Rue stopped her with a hand on her arm, "Follow" She told her in Pavi, a soft smile on her face as she turned to lead the girl in the opposite direction.

"My name is Rue." She told the girl in common, her hands signing the words as well, but she did not take time to explain them as she walked.

As they moved it became apparent the other girl moved with more grace than Rue, but she was not used to the flow of the tent city, and did not navigate as well as Rue did. It would take practice, she knew, and she wondered how long it would be before the girl moved like a Drykas. That thought made her frown. How long would it take her to learn a new home? A new culture? As much as the Drykas needed these people, it was not something that Rue would have adjusted to quickly, and she could not help the pity that she felt for the girl.

"Here." Pavi this time, she gestured to the spot, "Water." She signed the word too, although the girl surely would have recognized the place for what it was. It was a process to learn a new language, repetition was important.

Beginning a new Life

Taylani already knew that it would take her a long time to become accustomed to Pavi and the sound of the language. It would take even longer to figure out all the crow-begotten signs that everyone in camp seemed to throw around. But her life had become a one moment at a time type of life, instead of looking at the end goal -ultimately leaving these people and being returned to Syliras- but at the goal at the moment. And at the moment that goal was simply to fill her water canteen, and to get through each day sane.

She smiles, even if she does stiffen slightly when the other touched her arm, but she does not pull away and instead she obediently moves with her. Years of training kept her from walking heel-to toe, instead she walked as most dancers do Toe to heel, creating a sway of the hips and body. She didn't even realize she was doing it, though that did not help that it seemed the tents jutted out randomly. She was sure that there was probably some order, but being used to streets with clear definition of walls and sidewalks, this was insanity. Though there was very little about this culture that she didn't think was insane.

"I am called Taylani." She returns the name, her eyes once more sliding to the other's red hair and slightly different coloring. It was difficult, not speaking much Pavi, and this young girl not speaking much Common but for some reason Taylani found it liberating. After the day she had yesterday and the evening, verbally fencing with the man who had for all intent and purposes bought her, she was happy to struggle to communicate without having to be on guard.

Stopping, Taylani repeats the pavi words "Here, Water...Here, Water." a few times, adjusting the sounds each time until they were passable. She then repeats the same words in common, for the other girl's benefit.

"Taylani." She repeated, hoping that saying the name would help it stick in her mind. Rue nodded at the girl's effort with the Pavi words, it was a good start, and the words sounded good.

Rue found herself at a loss for words to follow once the girl had filled her waterskin, wanting to offer the girl more, to help introduce her to Endrykas, but failing to find what she needed.

The girl, Taylani, seemed so uncomfortable here, and there was a look of wanting in her eyes. What would she want if she was alone in a new city?

The answer for Rue was of course, a friend, and she knew just the one to introduce. "I have a-" She paused and ended up switching to Pavi for the next word, "Strider" Was there a word for that in Common? She didn't know, and didn't have a way to explain to the girl without showing her, but she continued speaking again anyway, in Common once more. "A horse but... more. Many Drykas have. I show you?" She accompanied the question with Pavi sign unconsciously adding 'if you would like' and the sign of welcoming.

Maybe meeting Wildfire would let the girl see that there was more to being here than hard work, that not all of the things here were bad, regardless of circumstances that had brought the other here.

Beginning a new Life

Taylani quickly filled the water skin, wanting to ensure that she would have enough for whatever happened. Nothing in her life any more seemed certain to her, so she had an almost desperate need for some planning. Standing again, securing the cap once more so that the water could not dribble out, she tilts her head as she once more regards Rue.

The girl seemed to want to show her something, and she could not help the immediate suspicion that seemed to leap to the front of her mind. Why would this girl go out of her way to show her anything? However, Taylani recognized this reaction for what it was, and tried to push it down. She did not want her experiences to color her perceptions of others with hate. She forced a smile, "I am not sure..." She started to say in common, but she looks back in the direction of the tent that she had emerged from. With a sudden decision made, she lifts her chin and gave a real smile -albeit one that was hard and dangerous-. "Never mind. Yes. I would love to go with you...to see this horse.."

Taylani studied her for a moment canting her head to the side like a wolf who is unsure if you are friend of foe. Her eyes were dark with suspicion, and Rue could not blame her for that, but she wondered if maybe she had tread too far in her attempt to make the girl feel at home. She was not a dog to be led around, Rue chided herself.

So when the uncertain tone of the girls voice reached her she was already starting to sign her acceptance of the rejection. Taylani turned then, looking back towards the pavilion she had emerged from looking confused and alone, and when she faced Rue once more it was with a wolfish grin.

The excitement that Rue felt upon her acceptance of the invitation had less to do with the girl and more to do with her partner. She loved to show Wildfire off, and he enjoyed the attention as well, butt was more than vanity that caused her elation. It was pride. Both of being Drykas and of being chosen by such a strider. Young and strong with more personality than most humans possessed, Wildfire was truly remarkable, and he had chosen Rue.

She grinned at the other woman, not missing the fierceness in her eyes that spoke of mischief in the making, and forgetting that the woman across from her was not a Drykas, that Rue could be getting the other woman into trouble.

"Come with me." She spoke slowly in Pavi, making the sign for follow only, softened by request. They would head towards her own home, closer than usual to the other pavilions of her clan after the recent attacks on the city. While the threat seemed to have passed, the Drykas had not given up caution. All the same it only meant that she would see Wildfire sooner, something no circumstance could dampen.
