[Anthonius Fighter Pits] Eye of the Tiger {Sei Tendo}

Ethan found that he had won his step forward at the awful price of another bruise to his shin. Ser Titus Maximus had taught Ethan that the short brutal attacks were often the deciding factor in fights. Ethan knew that if this was a street brawl, then he would probably had tried to kick Sei in the groin several times, or even tried to gorge an eye out by now, because the truth of the matter was that if you didn’t win your fight in the first few chimes then you were losing the fight. Real fighting and he had been practicing with Lucas to better understand his own limitations, was about the most pain you could inflict on another person as quickly as possible. Lucas had told him that those who believed in honor and fairness had no business stepping into Sunberth or fighting a dagger fight in the back alleys of Zeltiva. Death was a distinct possibility in both situations and only the animal raw power that came from a live and death situation could save you. So instead Ethan learned how to fight with his head and asked about the dirty tricks to better prepare him for his own brawls in the future.

Ethan saw the lazy punch that Sei threw, it was strange, up till this point Sei seemed to be moving faster and striking harder. In fact, it was the tilt of Sei shoulders that told Ethan it was a bluff. In the past, Ethan wouldn’t have seen the subtle difference between a small roll in the shoulder to allow the arm to snap back versus any other punch, but pain had been his teacher here in the pits. Lucas had taught Ethan to be aware of his opponent and for the first time Ethan felt like the lessons were begging to real show themselves. So Ethan bought into the lazy punch bringing up his arm in the classic forearm deflection, but it was the roll of Sei shoulders that told him the real blow was coming from Sei’s right. Ethan took his left arm and swung it downward, he had chosen to protect his ribs with a hard elbow throw that might contact with Sei’s fist. Ethan wasn’t sure about the timing, but what he was sure about was if the blow had been timed right it had the potential to break fingers and some of the other small bones in Sei’s hand. Otherwise, Ethan expected the blow to land on his arm and began another dot of bruising.

After Sei’s counter strike had come, Ethan decided to use on of his own tricks. Having closed the distance Ethan stomped down hard with his right foot, in the general area of Sei’s own right foot. Lucas had shown Ethan the trick that had come with it. Unless his opponent had metal foot greaves, Sei was likely to feel the hard contact of Ethan’s heel on the top of his foot. Ethan made sure that the stomp was with the a twist from his hips keeping the blow to Sei’s foot painful, but not to the point of cracking bones. It was then that Ethan threw his left elbow at the same time his foot came down and planted itself. The elbow was there to keep his balance and provide more force to knock Sei over if he could.

[Anthonius Fighter Pits] Eye of the Tiger {Sei Tendo}

Sei felt a sharp pain on the back off his hand, and quickly withdrew his fist. He growled, but was quickly silenced when Ethan smashed the heel of his foot on his own. Sei nearly yelped, but he bit his lip instead drawning blood. He narrowly dodged his opponents last attack. He was officially angry. He was sick of Ethan's tricks. If he got any angrier he'd explode. He shut down and threw a fast, hard punch for Ethan's stomach. Although it was unstable and clumsy, it wasn't weak. He withdrew his fist afterward, and followed-up with his other hand. Make a fool of me, will you? I don't think so! Sei growled and raised he knee swiftly, hopefully landing in Ethan's gut.

Sei couldn't care less if he was injuring his opponent at the moment. He was just venting his anger of something. He had taught himself almost everything he knew, but he couldn't help but feel like Ethan was toying with him. If that was the case, he'd just do what he had to. His hand still stung, but at the time he wasn't paying attention. To finish it all off Sei made a rough punch at his targets face.

[Anthonius Fighter Pits] Eye of the Tiger {Sei Tendo}

Postby Ethan Ironhorse on February 3rd, 2014, 2:07 pm

Ethan felt his elbow strike a deflecting blow across Sei’s fist. Normally the strike was suppose to hit the back of the hand, striking the bones hard enough to crack them. Instead Ethan had mistimed the strike feeling the knuckles connect with his elbow. Granted it made Sei, probably feel pain in his hand, but Ethan knew he would have to work on his timing to get the max benefit from such a strike. However, it was the cheap shot of Ethan’s foot coming down on Sei’s that made him briefly smile. Normally, Ethan believed in honor and fairness, but sending so much time with Lucas had taught him that those ideals didn’t belong in a fight. You practice like you were in the real thing, and that meant cheap shots weren’t just expected but were the norm. So Ethan had learned a great deal of cheap shots from punching someone in the neck to kicking joints, the more dangerous ones like gorging out an eye or biting a chunk of ear off, wasn’t demonstrated.

Ethan had started to learn how to gauge his power in a punch or kick. Lucas had started to show Ethan that the real damage occurred when a fighter put his whole body into a blow. A kick was a nuisance if it just came from the thighs, but if one began to put in their body by snapping their hips with their torso. Power seemed to flow through one body into their leg. At times Ethan thought about Flux and wondered if that was how the magic had started. A perfect kick or punch, one could almost feel the bodies power flow into their knuckles or foot. Ethan’s elbow throw had missed but Ethan had done his damage and that was all he needed. However, Sei had his own surprises, he quickly came up with his fast hard punch and hit him in the stomach. Ethan flexed his stomach muscle as the punch hit. Pain radiated from the hit, shockwaves came from the blow and Ethan’s muscles tried to keep it from crumbling him down.

Ethan quickly slammed his hands downward in a cross pattern to stop Sei’s knee. The shock came up his arms and a grunt of extersion came from Ethan as the blow was stopped. Sadly the blow had numbed his arms and Ethan wasn’t ready to deflect the rough punch to his face. The blow landed slightly lower than his left cheek bone. The inside of his cheek glanced acrossed Ethan’s teeth cutting them open and slipping blood throughout his mouth, as his head and body forced Ethan to stumble several steps. Blood pouring from his mouth onto the sand and gravel of the yard, a bruise was starting up on Ethan’s cheekbone. Ethan spat out the blood in his mouth and quickly went back to a guard position.

“Not bad Sei, but raw power doesn’t mean control. Loss of control will make you lose a fight faster then lack of power.” Ethan taunted his opponent with bloody teeth. He was ready for a charge or wild swing, a charge would cause Ethan to kick Sei’s face possibly breaking the man’s nose if the hit was timed well. A wild swing Ethan, would just continue to dodge again and again wearing down Sei.

[Anthonius Fighter Pits] Eye of the Tiger {Sei Tendo}

Postby Sei Tendo on February 6th, 2014, 10:55 pm

Sei nearly growled at the man. He's really starting to piss me off. He stood there studying Ethan's face as he began to speak. Was that--yup, that was a growl.

"Excuse me? I don't need your insight jackass." He said coldly, stepping up with a wild swing of his fist toward his opponents chest. He hated being tuanted, worser still he hated when he was tuanted and the person was right. Like with this know-it-all. This time the Kelvic stepped forward with his fist drawn back, and tried to slam his fist into Ethan's stomach. It wasn't personal, but he hated the fact Ethan was so.. cocky? Whatever it was, it bothered the Kelvic to no end.

Sei took a quick moment to step in, and threw his head forward in Ethans face. He took a step back, and slipped into a defensive stance. "I couldn't care less about control."

[Anthonius Fighter Pits] Eye of the Tiger {Sei Tendo}

Postby Ethan Ironhorse on February 9th, 2014, 9:32 pm

Ethan heard the growl and realized that he had finally made his sparring partner mad. In a way it was a good thing, and in another way it was bad. Ethan wasn’t so sure of himself that he believed he could take on Sei without any effort. In fact, he was pretty proud of the fact that he had been able to fight this long without giving up. Lucas, the old brawler, that taught him most of his moves would usually have him on the ground in an arm lock by now. Ethan stepped back quickly, as Sei’s wild swing to his stomach came. Ethan could feel the power behind the punch as Sei’s knuckles snapped at Ethan’s shirt. Sei’s punch had missed by a fingers breath, and Ethan was doing his best to back peddle as fast as he could.

Ethan could feel the sand and gravel below his boots help dig the hard leather sole into the ground as he turned to avoid the follow up head butt. The sound of Ethan’s hard breathe blew into Sei’s ear as it passed and for a moment Ethan almost wanted to reach out and chew the man’s ear off. This was getting out of hand and Ethan had a choice to make. Either he could take the beating that Sei was going to dish out, or by Myri he was going to fight till someone was down. Ethan settled back in his defensive stance, the cut in his mouth teasing him with pain, the copper taste of blood focusing his mind. He had started to get tired of being the new kid in the yard, and though he had been taking some decent hits, he wanted to dish out a couple here and there. So Ethan thought about Sei’s response before he smiled his red tinted smile, as he watched the man for his next move. “Yeah, no control, all raw power. The ladies must love you for the 5 chimes your with them. Or was your plan to blow me over with the wind from your punches.”

And Ethan waited for what came next, because it didn’t matter what Sei would come after him with, Ethan had turned his right back leg sideways, waiting for Sei to step forward with a punch, kick, or some attack. As soon as he did, Ethan threw his weight back down into the heel of his foot and began to snap his hips and shoulders with the full swing of his leg. It was a kick to break bones that Ethan was going after, up until know Ethan had kept his kicks to small jabs or ones that would be defected by the armor that Sei had on. This one however was to deal the kind of damage that a real fighter would go after. Lucas had told Ethan that such attacks were to be used sparingly, and only when an opening was presented. Instead Ethan was hoping that Sei’s anger would blind him to Ethan’s attack, therefore Ethan went full power on it, hoping to sweep Sei’s leg out from under him, or hurt it so bad that Ethan could get back into a defensive stance in time to fend off the next round of attacks.

[Anthonius Fighter Pits] Eye of the Tiger {Sei Tendo}

Postby Sei Tendo on February 9th, 2014, 10:01 pm

"You're a slippery one, ain'tcha?" He said while turning to face Ethan. Sei had to admit, his opponet was pretty petching fast. He felt his eye twitch when Ethan began to speak. Now he'd done it. The Kelvic had busted a nerve this time. He charged Ethan, and began to move his fist foward. He didn't even know what had happened until he was looking at the sky. What the hell? He blinked a few times before looking around to locate Ethan. By now his rage was gone, and he was exhausted.

Ethan hovered above him, which made him lift up to a sitting position. "Don't bother saying it, I know I lost." He said, standing up and dusting himself off. He walked over to Ethan and extended his hand to him. "Uhm.. Thanks for the match. I actually ejoyed it.. A little. I'll beat you next time you cunning bastard." He annouced with a slight smile before starting to grab his gear. He could tell his leg was definitely going to bruise, as he was limping slightly. Thanks a lot. He grumbled something to himself and walked away.

OOCI just thought we should finish since this was from awhile ago. If you want to continue, or there are specific grades you want pm me! Thanks for the thread! :D

[Anthonius Fighter Pits] Eye of the Tiger {Sei Tendo}

Postby Ethan Ironhorse on February 10th, 2014, 7:29 pm

Ethan saw Sei move forward and his right leg began to make its turn. Ethan felt the power that came with the twist of hips and movement of his shoulders. It was a strange sensation as the power began to almost float throughout his body and down through his leg. Then Ethan made contact and felt his shin dig hard into Sei calf. The resistence was there and for a moment Ethan thought that the hit wouldn’t accomplish tripping his opponent. Then he began to feel his leg and Sei’s continue to move, as such his opponent began to turn sideways as Ethan felt his leg go through the final pass and settle down. Surprise came over Ethan’s face as he quickly looked back towards Sei. The man was crumpling on the ground and Ethan began to move forward to check if he was ok.

Ethan offered his hand to Sei as the man dusted himself off and got up. It was strange to win a fight, especially since he had just committed to it mentally, but like all victories it wasn’t without cost. Ethan’s cheek and bleeding mouth, coupled with the new bruises would stand out for a few days even with treatment of the salves. Taking Sei’s hand he shook it and smiled, over the couple of practices Ethan knew that he didn’t need to gloat or lord his win over Sei. “I am sure you will Sei, there isn’t a doubt in my mind.” As he walked away Ethan felt sorry for hurting the man, but he had also worn armor to a fist fight, and the only way for Ethan to win was to use some of the dirty tricks he had been taught, and so that is what Ethan did.

Ethan went back to the yard to run a few more laps. Lucas and a few others had told him that no matter how badly you are beaten but you should always get back up and push yourself. The reason why was that after a long journey you might be hurt or put in a fight, and if you win, you still need to find a way to walk that extra distance to a safe place.

Notes :
Sei, try to put more details in your actions and make your replies longer. It'll net you more XPs and in higher levels, required to gain further XPs.

Ethan, he has little experience in both Teaching and Unarmed Combat, in fact, his Unarmed Combat is noticeably lower than Sei's, so I'd appreciate if he took more hits than matching him blow for blow, especially since he's not exactly at peak physical shape in this thread.

I'm cutting a little of both of your XPs for the aforementioned reasons. Sei, more details and description, and Ethan, try to not overplay his skills and knowledge. An early Novice Unarmed Combatant would stumble more than he did in this thread.

On a side note, I think Ethan should go to the Soothing Waters to get gnosis treatment from the healers. It would cure his bruises in an instant. :)

That aside, good job, you two. :)
