Summer, AV 510

'...That will teach him! The little bastard...' Skaii could hear faint voices as he began to come to. He opened his eyes to see who or what it was yet his vision was blurred. He tried to move yet, the muscles all along his body ached from head to toe. He tried to say something but, nothing could escape his lips. How had he gotten in to this situation?

Twenty minutes ago...

It was roughly around the eleventh bell and the market area had been thriving with livelyness. The scent of fresh and well baked food drew in all sorts of people around the booths however, this also drew in the unwanted. One particular unwanted went by the name of Skaii Kelarin, waiting, lurking in the shadows for a chance to steal some of the precious food.

The delicious aroma of baked bread from a nearby booth was beginning to make him feel extremely dizzy. An old lady was manning the store, it would be an easy victory for the young thief. As soon as the the old bag had turned her attention toward a customer the boys hand would shoot up and snatch the large loaf of bread in the course of about half a second. With a wide grin across his features and the smell of victory at hand he prepared to launch himself back in to the shadows from which he came only to crash in to another boy.

Skaii stared bluntly at the boy, dazed from the impact. He looked roughly around his age and looked just as shocked as Skaii did. 'Th-th-th-THIEF!!!' The boy cried as Skaii stood up, stumbled and darted toward a dark alleyway. His mind swirled and he felt sick with fear as he paced through the narrow street. Today was an unlucky day for the young thief however, it just so happened that security was particularly tight today and so Skaii found himself running straight in to an armoured fist.

The guardsmen had left the boy a bloody pulp within the alley, threatening him with death if ever he was caught stealing again. Writhing in pain the young thief curled up in to a ball and cursed his damned luck.

Intervention!

I'm going to have to intervene here. The Syliran Knights, the Law of Syliras, are men of honor and justice. Where they would not allow even a simple stealing go unpunished, something along the lines of beating a boy nearly to death would be more than just frowned upon. So, instead of that final short paragraph you wrote about Skaii getting brutalized by a Knight, I will intervene as said Knight, and the outcome of this thread will depend mostly on your character's actions, or partially on anybody's that joins in. The thread will remain open.

In such situations, it would be wise not to straight up fight or attack the law, since they are well trained in combat, and though they may be chivalrous, they are not foolish, and will kill if it means to spare an innocent life, which would be theirs. Though, since Skaii is so young, exile, death, or even torture would not be likely unless he provoked it.

Security was tight, not just today however. The Syliran Knights were known for always being on duty, always on guard, always ready to stop injustice and serve the law set down. Today was no different than any other day. Thieves in the Great Bazaar, it was common, very much so in fact. The Man that had witnessed first hand the theft attempt was cunning. With ease this elder of the law not only predicted Skaii's route to escape, but was able to place himself in able position to grab him by the collar of his clothing and pin him against the wall.

"Whoa whoa there! Where we off to in such'a hurry?" The man smiled gently as he released the boy once he was quite confident the boy was going to be compliant, which he sure hoped was the case. His back was feeling a little worn this morning. "Boy, please don't run. I had to chase down a kid twice your size just the previous day and my back simply cannot stand another such assault." The Syliran knight chuckled heartily, Skaii was probably able to notice that the entire crowd, which was glaring down upon him only moments ago, began to dissipate and return to their own matters. The Knights had it under control after all.

"Talk to me child. What's your name?" The man extended his hand, offering it to shake, the common greeting amongst many humanoid races, and a gesture of kindness and civility. This knight had no intentions, or at least gave no obvious signs or desiring to beat down Skaii.
Bad News Everybody. School is picking up, Exams are beginning to happen, homework is growing time consuming, I may soon be evicted from my apartment, I'm dealing with severe and physical fights among several of my best friends, and I can't seem to find a time to get much needed sleep. I'm terribly sorry, but don't expect to see much of me for a long while.
