This task, while not exactly stimulating in many regards and was repetitive in many others was simple all things considered. If anything it was interesting to note the wide variety of bodies placed here, their differences myriad and rather interesting to note all things considered. Thankfully the woman had not encountered another body that she'd recognized though in the time she had a disturbing line of thought had occurred to her.

The ship she had been on, it had seemed as though the run had been somewhat normal and planned out. That meant that there was indeed the possibility that the Sailor's Guild knew about a trade of corpses, and either partook in it or looked the other way. Either possibility gave her cause to reevaluate some thoughts as to the Guild.

When the doors opened and two rather malnourished slaves entered she had leveled them a look of expectancy, being disturbed during a task set forth by her mistress was certainly not something she regarded kindly. However any annoyance she felt evaporated when Amaryllis follower, her robes looking a fair bit different from her normal staple and the fluid on them not exactly leaving much to the imagination. It was a little jarring to see the Nuit in such a light.

She ordered the slaves to remove a corpse and Anna watched as they removed it. She couldn't see exactly what was done, but the end result fascinated her beyond the norm. Whatever the slave had done had resulted in the ice shattering, breaking open and freeing the corpse within. That shouldn't have been possible normally, so obviously her theory about the ice possessing some magical properties was true. The question was what magic and how was it activated? Amaryllis wasn't telling that much was for sure.

At Amaryllis' next words Anna allowed herself a slight chuckle, knowing that there was one of several way's to interpret that particular statement. She could mean pulsers, in which case Anna would wisely refrain from pointing out the hopeless fragility of the Nuit. She could mean slaves, in which case Anna was unsure of what to think as slavery was a rather new concept to her coming from Zeltiva. Perhaps even men in general, in which case the sorceress agreed though they had some uses beyond just labor. Uses that Anna preferred females for, but she wasn't exactly picky.

"I could think of a few other uses for them, target practice and pleasure come to mind." She said as she followed the Embalmer.

The room they arrived at was barren and rather plain compared to the rest of the Palsa Hydrasa. The body lay on the slab and various assortments of knives and the like were arranged on a nearby table. Amaryllis washed herself and bid Anna to do the same. The sorceress raised an eyebrow at that, rolling up her sleeves and repeating the Embalmer's motions. What secret could be so important that involved... this?

As the Embalmer spoke Anna detected a change in the Nuit, something different than normal. There wasn't any arrogance and it didn't seem like she was trying to impress her, rather the Nuit appeared more... like a person. Anna felt her eyebrow rise a few inches, the reality of the matter settling in.

The Nuit of the Island needed Amaryllis, she was a necessity and was essentially responsible for the Wizard's gaining new bodies. Earning her disfavor as one of the unliving seemed rather fatal now that she regarded it like that, indeed the Nuit held a monopoly on the body trade. Any respect she had previously held for the Nuit increased, truly, in her own way the Nuit was as powerful as a member of the Council.

She asked the question, there were no traps or tricks in her voice or hidden pitfalls waiting for her. The Embalmer was offering this to her, the chance to learn how she did as she did. To have that kind of power, offered from master to apprentice. It was no great lesson in the Arcane or no great stratagem of politics, rather a means to power without even needing to cast a spell. Really, it barely required thought at all to answer, her grey eyes lit in that curious chaotic light.

"Yes. I wish to know this art, to learn this grand secret." The Chaon answered.

Amaryllis smiled slowly, "Then pay close attention to the art of an Embalmer." Taking a scalpel from the tray the Nuit positioned herself over the bodies left arm, pressing the razor blade against the flesh about two finger widths from the crook of the elbow on the underneath side, "Most times when a nuit comes searching for a body they simply request one from the stocks, with no care of what or who it was in life. For others, however, bodies are chosen for their significance." She began a long cut dow to about three finger widths from the wrist, the blade cutting through flesh like a knife through butter. The skin parted easily, revealing what fat beneath. Retracting the cut in the opposite direction the Woman's expert hand quickly pierced this layer of fat as well, the pink of muscle beneath Begining to be revealed, "Still others have additional requests, for modifications to be placed within their bodies. Concealed weapons, hidden compartments, and other such devices. This one in particular requested a forearm holster, as he always does." Expert hands hooked fingers beneath the skin and fat, pulling up with a ripping sound and she pressed her other hand underneath the skin, clearing away thin white threads that held the bottom of the fatty layer to the muscles themselves. Then on either end of the cut Amaryllis added horizontal cuts down either side of the forearm, stopping less than half way to the other side of the arm. Leveraging her elbow on the table she tugged at the newly created skin flaps, pulling them carefully from muscle so that they flopped on either side.

Pausing a moment to wipe her hands on her robes she looked at Anna, "Those who wish for such devices often have a very good reason to request them. It is always good to note who has what modification, as it may very well become a bargaining chip in the future." Looking back at the body the nuit took a small pair of tweezers, pinching at a translucent layer of facia that overlaid the muscles. With the scalpel she made a cut in this layer, once more hooking a finger in this new opening to begin tearing off this layer to reveal redish muscle beneath, "There is a long rectangular device, like a cylinder, on the table on the far side of the room. Retrieve it for me." She would say without looking up, eyes locked on her work as she cleaned the exposed muscle to perfection.

OOCAmaryllis will be open to questions :)

Anna followed the Nuit's progress in this artform, her scalpel moving with practiced ease that certainly denoted an expert of their craft. The Sorceress allowed herself to wonder exactly what Amaryllis had been long ago when Alahea still stood proud and strong against the world, an undertaker perhaps? She certainly didn't carry herself like one, she carried herself like some upper crust noble or high class merchant even. Zeltiva had possessed all types, a center for trade as it was and so a life long citizen experienced much there.

Modifications... those types of modifications certainly sounded like something an undead could make use of. She wondered if the living attempted to receive such things, though it sounded particularly deadly to the pulser involved. The tall woman kept the line of thought open, a slight smile creasing her features as he imagined Darren under the knife as he screamed for mercy. Oh, how she would take especial pleasure in killing him for all the pain he'd caused her.

It was something of a fuel really, whenever she felt something was hopeless she remembered what she had to do and why. She wanted to kill him more than she had anyone else in her short life, so she fantasized about it and waited for the time to be right. Once it was, once she reversed their roles she was not going to make the mistake he made with her. He let her live, she was not so foolish.

The Sorceress wordlessly went about the task, finding the desired item fairly easily and returning to her previous position. She actually had a question ruminating in her mind now, it had more to do about this so called Riyanna Sterder. Celeste had named her as her mistress, so it might very well to know more about the woman in advance. She opted not to inquire after Kierra Doma, it seemed to frustrate Amaryllis to no end for some reason whenever the woman was mentioned.

"So I met someone interesting the other day, a girl by the name of Celeste Arumen. Nice enough type, I was wondering if you know anything about either her or her mistress Riyanna Sterder." Anna said.

It felt rather like she was spying on Celeste here, she had offered her assistance and friendship though Anna was quite the monster. She wanted to trust her but she was a Chaon, trust wasn't natural to her anymore because she of all people knew how easy it was to betray someone. Now the girl knew that she was a Chaon, from her own lips, so that meant whether or not she liked it she had vital information regarding Anna. So she needed to know something more about her.

"Also, these modifications... who makes them? Forgive me if it sounds impertinent but you don't seem like the type interested in making little gadgets like these." Anna inquired carefully, keeping levity from her voice or any trace of mocking.

Amaryllis was certainly very connected, it went without saying and was implied in the way she carried herself. Anna was a powerful sorceress to be certain, near the heights of reimancy and her Glyphing made her even more deadly. However the Embalmer was more powerful in that she knew people and had connections to them. Anna knew a few people that were good for possible favors, Kouri and now possibly Celeste, but Amaryllis seemed to have contacts everywhere. Even the Council itself didn't seem beyond her influence.
