Dra Kalinor

There was so much that needed to be done, her foot was in the door now. Sahana had found herself up to her neck in expectations, these responsibilities were milked to there fullest potential taking as much as she possibly could be given in order to proceed into the fabrication process.

What she needed was the right tools for the job, charge hammers of varying size.

Her selection off the wall was one of medium size, followed by three progressively smaller hammers the smallest for delicate corrective procedures and for fine tuning.

As a Mage Crafter the isur saw the potential in the essence of things, naturally the craft was more of an art blending and shaping these into the structure of any given item.

Those were always the terms that dictated success or failure of a project. It was a rudimentary science, much like mixing a drink. One shot of the wrong liquor could ruin the drink, while of course the right measurements of the right alcoholic elements made something fantastic.

The Isur viewed herself as something of a mixologist of essences while the two disciplines were radically different they were in principal alone very much the same.

A knight had given her a commission, a long sword. There was an inherit request that could become a problem, this person wanted a sword that glowed like a lantern in the dark.

There were many ways to go about this but what she sought was a glowing crystal, something from the cavernous reaches. And while it was expensive it was the most cost effective. An item with one property that was behavioral, and yet it would still cost a small fortune.

But first things first, Sahana needed to apply a brush to paint. It was a costly reagent required to form the mage craft circle. The metallic paint in and of itself was horribly expensive being a derivative of mage wire, it acted as a pathway to funnel the essence into a focal point.

As the brush stroked across the table, she made one large circle where the sword would be placed and one smaller one where the crystal would be placed then one line to connect the two circles together.

As she placed the long sword and crystal in there places she felt enough had been done for the evening.

She would continue where she left off during the next day.

6th Of Winter 513 AV

The next day Sahana fiddled with the crystal itself, going over its structure. Like a gem cutter she appraised the edges of the glowing cluster, mapping out where she would hit it and how she would move it before actually setting it in motion.

The rock found itself on the table, as the sword quickly found itself in its own spot.

The next step was to start moving the lenses into position. She needed to pay close attention, they were her eyes as she had no Auristics. It was best to move these into places that had a wide span of view to properly assess her work.

After she was finished she started going over her work and realized she had a decision to make. Sahana could either leave the sword within the circle or move the handle out of the circle leaving just the blade within.

Something so minor would make a very large difference in the outcome of the project. Did she want the entire sword to glow or did she just want it's blade to glow?

There were brief moments of contemplation as she decided that she was going to in fact make only the blade illuminate so she promptly moved to the sword it's handle and cross guard out of the circle.

After that final decision she picked up a hammer out of her selection.

She heaved it up then swung down towards the sword as it collided sparks flew capriciously in the air as she began opening up the swords Djed. Up and down she pounded furiously stopping and checking the lense to see her progress, it looked akin to shattered glass the tapestry of spiderweb crackling adorned areas where her charge hammer had been working.

It was about striking a balance opening up the item just enough to allow a foreign essence to pass into it.

The tongs swept up from the table and she clasped the sword twisting it over. On the other side of the sword dim markings could be seen through the aid of the lense, she now needed to work this side in order to fully open the item. What was dimly showing on this side was fully opened on the other, it meant that following what she was seeing would allow her with some accuracy to follow the work she had done on the other half.

As the hammer collided into metal more sparks flew as she followed dim path to open the swords blade from both sides. It was feverish work, an hour or two had passed until she felt that she adequately prepared the item.

The next step in her process was time consuming, she took a smaller hammer and followed the path opening these larger veins to the edges and tip of the sword. These openings would be the transfer points for the essence that would be drawn in.

When complete her hand went from hammer to brush as she took the paint and connected the veins to the circle.

The next step would be to continue onto the crystal, the smallest hammer came into play as it clattered across the rock, tongs twisted and turned as delicate taps opened up its Djed pathways. When finished paint found its way onto the crystal as the Isur used the lense to carefully watch what was happening.

When this was completed and the item was properly harnessed, this circle began to glow as the essence siphoned from the crystal began to flow from the outer circle to the primary circle, the crystals natural glow began to flicker out of existence as the process began to take effect.

She then went back to the sword and watched the veins, where the connection points were placed the veins began to glow a different hue as the item was injected with foreign essence.

The major veins were now infused, but there was a minor problem. The major veins were not transferring to the smaller webbings properly it required delicate work.

It's just went to show that even in the smaller projects problems could arise even if she was at a competent level, The difference was that she knew how to handle these problematic encounters as they came up during the project. The more advanced the project the more complex the problems could arise the more dangerous it became to the inexperienced.

It was tireless work that came from a minor misjudgment, she had to better connect the the webbing of broken djed to the main veins by opening them up a little better.

This kind of correction costed her time, and kept her up through the evening into the next day.

The smaller hammer cascaded sparks while she watched behind the lense making the smaller webbings connect better allowing the proper flow of essence the property of the crystal through the sword.

A large central vein ran from the tip to the handle, with medium lengths of tendrils that branched out into crackled webbing across the entirety of the sword to evenly disperse the new djed source of the item.

By now the crystal that once glowed a blue hue was no more then just another chunk of ordinary rock.

The transition successful, the last thing that was needed was for the item to be placed into a charge basin to cool down for the next few days.

Sahana was pleased with herself, as the sword gripped by two tongs sizzled and hissed as it was placed in charged water to heal its wounds.

With much anticipation after the two days had passed she was ready to see the progress of her handiwork the item when it was removed from the charge basin the blade glowed with an errie bluelight when it was was exposed to darkness.

The illumination was most intense as it ran down the center of the blade but as it spand out towards the edges the glow grew dimmer.

The cascading light spanned out with as much intensity as a lantern.

Sahana was pleased with her work, it was an interesting piece and she wondered if she should do more to it. She was eager to place in isurian language her technique and findings.

The Isur looked at the item one more time going over the work she had done it was a bit of back patting, and self admiration.

She then took her journal and started to write down words that she had learned in Isurian then translated into common.

Sword Of The Blue Star

But with so much work was the project really finished? Or was there an obligation to her faith to make it that much better? She had to think about this, the person did not pay for any extras. Was it a matter of faith or was it a matter of monetary gain, perhaps of pride maybe to show the city the prowess of the Terras Clan.

Sahana Carefully placed the enchanted item on the table. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath and extended her anethyst arm towards the item as the isur l emptied her thoughts as she focused drawing power from her gnosis.

The tattoo that was veiled under the amethyst began to glow as the magic within herself pronounce its presence.

It was a swirling vortex of color of varying hues and shades some bright some dim as it amassed itself at her palm. The Isur was drawing what was within and focused it into her newly created item

As her gnosis screamed with power it was slowly but surely sapping her of her strength, endurance and her fortitude. As the gnosis was leeching her attributes from herself, so that she may channel them into the item.

Some time had passed and the once strong and hardy smith found her self struggling to stay awake as the more she focused and channeled the more her gnosis took from her to put within the item.

When it was over her left hand gave out where she collapsed and simply passed out.

What was left was an enchanted blade that had been blessed by the gnosis of Izentor. Cold Iron that rivaled Isurian steel in durability but not in weight, a sword that glowed in blue illuminesent light within the darkness.

It was her triumph, her first completed commission in dra kalinor.

Hey Sahana, we have a problem here. I'm not sure if you realize this or not, forgot, what have you, but I told you in PM that you had to first impress Devandil Nightshade for him to hire you. I haven't seen any threads where this is done yet and if you have them pm them to me so that I can see. Unless this is true, you can't use his lab for your work, you will have to pay out of your coin for items until then.

Should I run a thread with you?

I'm not sure where or how to begin with her attempting to gain the Magecrafters favor, or should I just run job threads assisting him?

You can NPC a Knight (leave out the leaders of Syliras and NPC Patrons.) You can also NPC Nobles, they would have coin to cover the charges where many wouldn't.

Yea I see what your saying.

So when I'm doing my job threads, who should we say is commissioning her work? I'd love to do some enchantments for knights, and establish myself that way.

Do you have any ideas of members in the order that would want to commission an item, and if so what kind of item. Maybe a shield, piece of armor or jewelry, a weapon.
At this level I can do a whole lot.

Well I would likely say that if you did perhaps smaller jobs on your own to prove that you can handle the more experienced items, then that would be enough to catch his attention. I say that because most in the city don't have magecrafted items and it's a rare thing not easily picked up on if that makes sense.

I don't remember using the Master only complying with what you said I could do, to accomplish job threads within Dra Kalinor work shop

http://www.mizahar.com/forums/topic35359.html

I was even sent to Dra Kalinor workshop from the job thread I did with you.
