Nilika walked down the stairs to Soothing Waters. A headache rang through her delicate state of mind. Today wasn’t really her day at all. Her hair refused to be tamed so now it was fuzzy and tangled. She let out a sigh and continues to go to her spot to work. On the way there she threw her hand up to wave at Ivis. He waved back in return. She slid into a chair and huffed. Tatsuwaa was at the counter concocting a salve for burns.

“Oh my, what happened to your hair,” Tatsuwaa said as she looked over at the Konti. Nilika looked up through her to Tatsuwaa. “I couldn’t get to be down,” she knew her common wasn’t quite right but, at the moment she really didn’t care.

She blew little strands of hair above her head. They floated up then fell on her forehead like fall leaves. She missed the warmth in the air. Even though winter almost already started, she didn’t like the cold anymore. Nilika looked up after noticing Tatsuwaa heading out the door and blinked.
Where is she off to? She didn’t have enough time to think about it before something else caught her attention.

A little knock on the door frame resonated in the quiet room. Nilika looked up and saw the man that helped her so many days ago. His hair was no longer curly but was sticking out in odd places. “Hi there,” he kind of smiled as he walked in. Nilika tilted her head slightly in interest. He has pretty eyes, she thought. She stood up and gestured to the now empty chair. The man turned the chair to her and sat in it. Nilika just started, waiting for him to explain why he was here. He’s probably here because of an injury stupid.

Lately a voice has been answering her questions in her head. The voice comes and goes but never truly stays. It started about a month ago. It’s not something that was a norm but she hasn’t thought about. She was more worried about how she was going to eat and survive this winter. She was running low and started to skip some meals.

The man let out a little cough to get the girl’s attention. She looked paler than she did last time he saw her. There was a throbbing in his forearm to remind him why he was here. The pain had dimmed down but it was still there. Seeing that he finally got her away from her musing he grinned a little. She looked at him with a blank stare that showed a little of interest. It kind of unnerved him a little. Out of all the expression she could have why do she always look stoic. It was so not cute.

Nilika looked at the man silently. She put her hand quickly on his forehead and felt his forehead, she had to be quick unless he had some type of sorrow. He had a fever that was slightly high; his face looked flushed and red which didn’t seem like a good sign to her. She rushed to a pail of water that was in the corner and dipped a rag in it. Wringing it out shortly, she placed it on his forehead. Hopefully this will bring the fever down just a bit if possible. “Please hold it here for me,” she instructed, “what is the problem.”

The blonde looked up under the rag, “I kind of cut myself on my arm while sparring.” The word cut was an understatement. It wasn’t just a cut but a deep gash. Plus it seemed that the bleeding hasn’t quite stopped bleeding. Nilika was slowly freaking out. It wasn’t that she hasn’t seen blood before, but that this was just wasn’t what she was expecting. The blood was practically running down his arm. She took the rag from hand and started to wipe the red substance away. He winced by the roughness, but all else stayed quite.

She needed to see where the wound was at but all the blood was making it hard to see it. Hearing the man’s wince, she dabbed it gently. So it has to be around this area. Slowly she washed the wound in a circular motion. The rag started to stain red; she got up and went to bring the pail back to the chair. Dipping the rad in the warm water, the red elixir washed away but still left a stain. She wringed it out and placed it on the wound. The bleeding had stopped, but she still needed to clean it.

“Could you hold this please,” she pointed to the rag that was on his arm. He took it from her hands and nodded. Nilika signed placed it back on the arm, “hold it on the wound sir.” The blonde sheepishly nodded. The teenager walked to a cabinet that had different types of plants for healing and other medical needs. She looked through the plants and barley new any of the plants that were in there. One name caught her name, however; it was useless to her in this situation.

Jile

It could help with the cleaning but she didn’t know how to make it into a salve. She huffed in annoyance then looked more in tall cabinet. There it is, she thought, there was an herb labelled as Vyfox; it was a whole cluster. Its white flowers seemed almost dried. Nilika smiled and pulled it out. She placed it on the counter and brought out a small wooden bowl and a pestal. Taking two of the many white flowers off the herb, she put them in the bowl.

The patient looked over at the girl and watched her. He looked under the rag and saw that the wound stopped bleeding but was inflamed and reddish. He winced from the sheer look of it, then back at the girl at work. She short but not too short. Her hair did look awfully messy and like his observation from before, she was skinner.

He winced from the sheer look of it, then back at the girl who was staring at him intensely. She short but not too short. Her hair did look awfully messy and like his observation from before, she was skinner.

Refocusing, Nilika put the pestal at an angle above the bowl and started to grind the two flowers together. She moved her wrists in a circular motion as the snowy blossoms crushed under the pressure and movement. The pestal crushed the flowers into an almost dusty substance. She continued the process until they were fully crushed in a powdery substance. She pause her movement; she didn’t know how to do the rest of it. Stopping immediately, she heard footsteps coming into the now silent room.

Tatsuwaa walked in with a rag to wipe her hands and a bucket. “Oh we have someone here,” she smiled. Nilika only nodded her head, “Ms.Tatsuwaa, do you know how to make a poultice by any chance,” Nilika asked hopefully. The woman said yes as her response. She walked over to the younger of the two females. “Good, looks like you found the Vyfox. It’ll help with the pain as well,” she took the bowl from Nilika and set it on the counter. “Go get that bucket over there,” she pointed to the entryway of the door. Following the task quickly she made haste to fetch the bucket. She brought it back and set next to the counter in the floor. “Go get the ladle in the draw,” the healer asked. Nilika went and retrieved it.

The woman used the ladle into the hot water and poured just a little, three to five drops into the powder filled bowl. “After you have crushed the herb into a powder, you put just a little water or else it’ll be watery and we don’t want that, do we,” she asked. Nilika shook her head no and continued to watch, but every so often looked at the patient to make sure that he was alright. “After that is done,” she reached for a spoon, “then you stir it together. Go give me a strip of gauze in the bottom drawer of the medicine cabinet.”

Nilika followed her instructions and returned with the item and placed it next to the wooden bowl. “Okay, now spread the mixture onto the gauze with the spoon,” Tatsuwaa said as she walked to the man and looked at his wound. “It’s not too deep, but still might need stitches.” Nilika dipped into the poultice a little and took some out. She gently slathered it onto the strip and repeated the process until almost all of the gauze was covered.

The older woman motioned over the Konti and told her to lay the gauze on the man’s gash. She did it slowly as not to let it slip. Tatsuwaa went to go get bandages as Nilika held the gauze in place. Tatsuwaa wrapped the bandage around his arm and tied it into a knot. After she was done, she went back to the counter to clean up the mess. “It would be wise of you to come back here to get a check-up,” Nilika said as she tightened the knot further. The man only nodded and smiled with thankfulness. “Also don’t strain that arm so much or else the wound will widen,” she said as her went to help with cleaning before another person comes in.

A short, but sweet thread, Nilika. :)

One thing though, you accidentally copied two of your paragraphs in the 3rd and 4th post. A blunder, perhaps?

Enjoy your grades.
