The Fall Hunt: Honourable Pursuits 41st of Fall 510AV Summer fades into the earth like the insects that retreat from the biting cold; signifying that Fall had begun to settle in. Grains turned a brilliant golden colour in their stalks, swinging in the wind. Berries blushed and fell from their branches, marking the dirt with shades of purple, blue and red. Indescribable smells hung in the air during this time of season when the heat of summer baked the edible plants. Fall consequently brings a chill that brushes Cyphrus clean of its scorch, making this an excellent time of season to track and hunt without the hot temperature carrying the hunter’s scent. The wild temperament of the Sea of Grass meets the vigilant spirit of the Drykas, swelling the population of Endrykas up to 15,000. The Fall Hunt is an important time for Drykas to come together and bond as a race before braving the winter season ahead; referred to as a ‘Trimming of the Drykas Web”. A metaphorical act that brings all Drykas to a place where they can share information with kin they don’t normally see throughout the seasons. Performing the webbing skill during this time is a true wonder to experience because of the intensity of the Drykas presence - a beating heart that unites all Drykas under a law of magic and spirit. As well as a law of Nature - of Caiyha. Fall may seem like a time only geared towards hunters but alas there is much that those from other pavilions can contribute. Those of the Amethyst Clan are born and bred survivalists that tough against the treacherous elements of the land. Their innate connection with the native Cyphrus strider sets them apart from other Drykas. Amethyst navigators are a popular pick in hunting parties as they know the land more intimately than other Drykas clans. Skinners find themselves especially busy during this time, taking the honoured kills of hunters all across Endrykas and preserving their stories in the hides of the beasts. Ruby Clan Crafters display their works of art all throughout the city, on the clothes of the people and their weapons, their yvas and even on the tiny leather straps that hold it to the strider. The totem poles, chalices, furniture, jewelry. Everywhere imaginable is some token of The Ruby Clan, etched into the culture with their art and tradition. Likewise, the streets boom with life; Sapphire Clan Dancers moving their bodies in shaking motions that represent the shedding of excess from the dramatic summer. Drummers accompany them, along with lutes, guitars, fiddles, and other instruments that colour Endrykas with spiritual music. Small theatre troupes take to the roads and concentrate around the Emerald Clan Pavilion, rein-acting infamous kills from the past that inspire the new Drykas hunters to achieve their own goals. There is a great deal of respect that goes into the depicting of conquered beasts from the past; Drykas Actors will adorn their costumed bodies with the skin of the beast and an ornately designed mask. Even those of the Opal Clan who heal are welcomed into the hunting parties - their role seems obvious to heal hunters who become wounded on their journies, but they also play an important role in taming the wound up spirits of the hunters - who are sometimes too zealous for their own goods. For the Emerald Clan, The Fall Hunt is a time to prove one’s worth through the act of tracking and hunting beasts. Also considered in the judging of a Hunter’s worth is his level of maturity to make decisions and lead hunting parties. What makes a born hunter is not only how fast his arrow glides or the skill in his movements, but his constitution and ability to feel compassion from the heart. Beasts that are hunted are not merely done so for sport. These beasts are true testaments of challenge and adversity worth overcoming - making the activity of hunting for Drykas much more spiritual than just performing the act of killing. Hunt Challenge - Scheduled for 41st of Fall 510AV: Band together a group of hunters (5-7) to take down a great beast (or beasts) of considerable strength, working together as a team to outsmart and honourably kill it. Any weapon of choice is acceptable depending on the wielder. Cruelty or unnecessary violence towards the beast will result in a harsh physical punishment and disbandment from the hunting party. Hunters must be more clever than to just bring the beast down with brute force. Great beasts that roam Cyphrus can sometimes be intelligent and tricky. Drykas Hunters must be creative and resourceful in their pursuit of these extraordinary creatures. Once grouped in a party, the hunters will be given specific details as to the beast they will be pursuing and the rewards involved. You spelled it wrong, Canuck! Sam's in if you want a bumbling hunter wannabe trying to make a name for himself...

His primary skill is Riding, but he's also working on Horsemanship, Short Bow, and Scimitar. So he can help ride it down, tend to the horses while others do their business, and shoot and slash and whatnot. And be awkward if anyone talks to him...

Count Dymphna in, too! Her primary skill is herbalism, but she's got a little riding, medicine, and sickle.

Aiken's good with his teeth in Unarmed, and a bit in Hunting and Tracking.

He's a wolf. It's what he was born to do.

Vanator is in! His forte is the battle ax, not the choicest hunting weapon, but he also has some skill in short bow, riding and webbing.

[Ryjaoka Windia]

Ryjaoka is game. Her primary skill is riding but knows her way around a sword or knife. She could help to lure the beast somewhere or drive him there with her riding skills. If it helps the team.

[Kayiri]

Kayiri shall join the hunt, to make a name for his Pavilion!

His primary skills are Riding (33), Longsword (19) and Composite Shortbow (15). ^^
