13th of Spring 514 | Speech | Thoughts
Without light, without reference, time does not exist. One second, one day, one year? They are all the same. In the darkness there was just her. In this void time did not exist, nor did up, nor did down. Am I sitting? The thought meandered slowly through her brain, but to her was like a flash of light feeling the room. Vainly she clung to the thought as it flowed like water thought her grasping fingers and faded back into nothingness before an answer could be found. Am I even awake? No, it does not matter. She did not even grasp for the second question. It required too much energy.
Inhaling, a cough wrecked her entire body, followed by a shiver. However fire did not follow in the cold’s wake. The heat was gone and just a cold remained seeking its way into her very bones. I don’t want to become one with you Darting from corner to corner, her eyes sought something in the darkness “Am I alone now? Has it taken you all?” Words barely escaped her throat and they felt foreign to her tongue. Still they echoed like the footsteps of giants in such a void. no nightmarish figures did not appear. No twisted forms of darkness and light hovered at the edge of her vision. A held breath escaped the girl’s lips as they turned into a half smile. At the same the same time a sadness rose in her chest. They have left me
Thunder ripped through the void, making even the darkness quiver. The girl’s heart lept through her chest. In her world the darkness was absolute. What could possibly make it tremble Thunder blasted through the darkness again. Leggings trembling, she rose and swayed awkwardly. Thunder beckoned her forward, but her legs would not move. Again the thunder called, but her strength failed. Swaying on her feet, she tried to regain her balance. One last call of thunder sounded, but she fell back unable to reach it.
Then there was silence. The darkness returned stronger than ever and with it the cold. She felt it in her bones, pulling her back down. An icy chill passed over her body like she was slipping below the surface of a lack. All her body wanted to was give in. Yet a small guttering spark held the night at bay No, don’t let it consume me It called out for her, to the thunder. A burning sensation grew around her eyes, as her body convulsed under another cough.
A crack formed, flooded with light, and burst forth into the void. The void shattered and faded revealing not an endless expanse of nothing, but a small messy room. A girl, half naked sat at the edge of a bed squinting against the light that now burned her eyes. Spidery arms still shook as they tried to push her back to standing. Her ribs pushed out from pale skin, and Oily hair plastered her slightly hollow checks. She smelled of sickness, but she was still there, still alive. Slowly, her eyes squinted against the light revealing the silhouette of a man.
