Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

OOCCaelum may pop in at any point. I also obtained permission to both use the location and Elise to be our bartender :)

29th of Spring, 514 AV, Early evening.

Caelum seemed to be doing well for himself, at least this evening. Nearly every seat was taken and many more were standing about socializing. The young courier had spent the day helping Caelum clean up and get ready for the evening's influx of patronage. Thus he was relaxing with a mug of ale. Ale wasn't typically what he drank, he was partial to wine if he needed to take the edge off or tea if he was thirsty, but Elise insisted. She claimed that it was different than other ale, that what she added should clear the mind rather than cloud it.

He shifted in his chair at the bar and smiled at the bartender. She was a pretty thing. He took a sip of the drink and winced a moment. He was so unused to drinking that the bitter flavor smarted. It was unusual and had a pleasant aftertaste for all the bitter alcohol it had. As he sipped at his drink he watched a pair of Akalaks arm wrestling, a small crowd watching, cheering, boasting and so on. Men being men.

The Akalak were a fascinating race. When he was told of a race of all men, he scoffed and called the man who told him a fool. But here he was, in the home city of the Akalak and there was not one blue woman to be seen. They were like the flip side of the Konti. The two races embodied gender stereotypes very well. One was delicate, aloof and full of feminine charm, the other sturdy, dedicated and contained a roguish masculinity that was all so attractive to women.

Just as Elise promised, his head remained clear headed despite the warm feeling the suffused his body. The ale was growing on him too, each sip sampled more of the malty barley flavor and the strange foreign spirit. Xira was enjoying himself, just as he enjoyed being a guest of Riverfall. He smirked good naturedly as one of the burly blue men beat the other and the loser bought another round for the group.

His thoughts turned to the Sanctuary and its residents. Particularly Kavala and Vanator. He wasn't sure their relation, but they seemed very close. He knew Vanator's type though, if he were in Syliras, he might even be a knights. He was a natural leader. Such things were obvious to even an unobservant stranger like himself. He could not help but admit to himself that he wanted to like the man. In many ways Vanator reminded Xira of his old mentor, Temur. It probably helped they both came from the travelling clans of Endrykas.

Xira was jostled out of his thoughts by a tall blue man blundering past who bumped into the courier. He smiled politely, not taking any offense to the interruption even though the man took no notice. He was far too gone into his drink. The distraction was enough to turn his attention to the door just in time to see a new arrival. He smiled and waved.
