Shaped by Knowledge
Above all else, Xira venerates knowledge, secrets and the dreams they bring. It is why he does what he does and insures his customer's privacy.


Standing at the average height of 5 foot and 11 inches, he has a peculiar olive, tanned skin more common to the desert rather than his home in Syliras. He also has deep blue eyes common to the folk of the inner sea and dark hair that might be common to those from the land of ice. Of course his hair is merely black and does not shimmer like the lights of the north. He weighs a modest 160 lbs and is averagely built; neither overly muscular, thin or portly. His face is well proportioned and perhaps could be considered handsome to some. In the winter he often has a well maintained goatee and in the summer he keeps his hair short and facial hair shaven due to the heat.

Xira enjoys fine, elegant clothes and would wear them if he had the money to do so. Otherwise he keeps his appearance neat and clean, even when travel-stained and weary. He has a habit of wearing hats, for the practicality and for the sense of style they bring.

Concept


Xira is generally a positive, upbeat fellow. Almost desperately so. It takes a lot to get him down and crack open his optimistic shell and get into the deep emotional issues that all who call themselves human contend with. To an Azenth, he would be a bright beacon of emotional turmoil. He maintains a strong internal discipline; this is something that was always a natural inclination to him, but has since been augmented by his introduction to magic.

If his upbringing had been of the more scholarly tener he would have been a scribe, a priest or a wizard. He values knowledge and secrets enjoys the chance to exercise his mind with innovation and change. As it happened, he did not stray far, but was indoctrinated with the overly formal styles of Sylirian upper class culture instead. He is somewhat morally neutral, not taking to heart the religious teachings of his youth. He believes in a moral relativism which makes it easy to work with, show respect for and gain/give trust to anyone regardless of background. Be it Sunberthian, Ravokian, knight or myrian, he will harbor only surface prejudices from his upbringing. This does mean that he is susceptible to the soul's inner darkness, given the right influence.

In terms of religious he is largely ignorant of most gods. The more famous gods he obviously know about: Syna, Leth, Akajia, Ivak, Rhysol, Caiyha, Dira, Cheva, the gods of seasons, rain and crops. As well those that are largely worshipped in Syliras: Yahal, Tyveth, Laviku, Eyris.

Xira currently worships the wounded god Aquiras, god of Travel though he isn't completely aware of him being wounded. Nysel, God of dreams, and Eyris the goddess of wisdom.

At creation


Xira started his life on the road to Syliras. Born on the long trip, but he was left in the care of another woman when his mother died. When the harrowing journey was over the child had no next of kin to go to so he lived with his the woman who would become his adopted mother until she died of lung fever one winter before his 16th birthday.

An exiled Drykas took him under his wing when he was 14 and showed him how to ride a horse. With his mother's permission he was allowed to follow the Drykas around while the horseman plied his chosen trade: Couriering. While Xira never went on the intercity trips, he did learn a lot from the older man. He learned a tiny bit of pavi, nothing passable, and how to survive out in the wild. Which Xira used to to prove that he could. The horseman let the child take some packages and letters to people while in the city.

After his mother died he stayed with his mentor for a time. However, the Drykas got itchy feet and picked up everything he owned and went away. He was never seen again. With only his skills in delivering things, Xira used them to support himself as best he can in the city.

The story thus far...


Discovering one's passion

Growing up Xira was a child of flighty fancy. Eager to get him into a trade and be useful to the cause of Syliras, Xira's mother first attempted to get him into an apprenticeship for an Architect. From which he learned much about the craft and trade of wood and masonry. But soon the youth grew tired of the man's mannerisms and insisted on trying something else. Since the Ironworks could always use a new, skilled hand, the Isur there saw a chance to mold a youngling into a tool to create new works. Such that when Xira's mother approached him, the Isur agreed and began teaching the youth right away.

This time it wasn't the man who made him leave, but the constant and monotonous work. Seeking something altogether different he went on to learn from a glassworker, a jewler and then he apprenticed under an apothecary. The young man could not seem to find something that he truly desired, even working under a gadgeteer was no enough, despite the mechanical wonders he helped shape. His was to travel to far and exotic places and learn new things, have grandiose adventures like in the stories he read.

That was when he met Temur the drykas courier.

Adventures in Riverfall Winter 513 -Summer 514

It began with a summons in a tavern. A courier from afar had gone ill, but he still required his package to be sent. He was nearly half way, after all. The destination was Riverfall and he could not deny that he had yearned to leave the city but lackd the excuse necessary to push himself on. So he agreed and took on the mission. Interestingly the package itself was a sapling of a Vian tree, one of those magical things from beyond the outer sea. Luckily the voyage was uneventful and the tree thrived under the courier's ministrations. Upon arrival Xira struck out to find the mysterious Kavala whom the Vian sapling was destined. The person in question was a beautiful konti, though at the time she was thin and gaunt do to extraordinary circumstances, whom he became quick friends with. He learned of a past life from her and she taught him the secrets of Reimancy. He met her friends such as an Ethefal named Caelum and her family. Despite himself, he had found a home despite his restless nature.

Heirloom: A signet ring designed to be pressed into hot wax. It is made from silver and has the shape of stylized spiral starting from the bottom and moving counter clockwise to the center cut into the press surface. There is a story behind the ring and one day Xira hopes to uncover it.

NPC type: Stationary.

Name: Temur Pathseeker
Race: Drykas
Gender: Male

Birthplace: Endrykas

Current location: STs are free to set this at their discretion, hopefully to aid in plot-ness.

Appearance: To be worked out at a later date.


NPC Concept
The character is meant to be a father figure for the character. He is to teach him to ride a horse and survive in the wild and fill the character's head with dreams of other places and cities. He is not bonded to a strider, instead owns a Kavinka Paintedmount(Calxisetseg, means wind flower, Calxi or Cali for short). He is gruff, blunt and no-nonsense. He Has commitment and authority issues which leads to him leaving.

NPC History

He was exiled from Endrykas at the age of 20. Moved to Syliras, worked as a courier for that region. Took Xira under his wing so to speak, taught him a little before he packed up his things and left.

General Information :
1. What is your Name?
Xira Hezmek
2. Do you go by a nickname or pet name?
No, but someone called me XiXi one time.
3. How old are you?
23 running on 24
4. What is your height?

Aesthetics :
1. Describe yourself as you see yourself.
I am just an ordinary man trying to make a living.
2. Describe yourself as others typically see you.
Typically I am seen as nothing more than a messenger. A polite one, but nothing to think twice about. Some of the ladies like that I am a bit different looking than many of the local men in Syliras. Though nothing ends up happening.
3. What is your favorite body feature?
My beard.
4. How physically fit are you?
I keep in shape, I suppose, but I've always been naturally fit.
5. How do you typically dress and what is your style?
If I had the money I would love to dress myself in a nice coat, shirt and vest. I typically wear fairly nice clothes and I keep them nice. I also wear a hat and during the winter and chill days I wear a pair of furlined gloves.


Family :
1. Who are your parents and what are they like?
I never knew my real mother or father. Mother died when I was very young and she never told anyone about my father. My adoptive mother was a bit overbearing and brought home many men. I still loved her, despite her faults, and she took good care of me. I just wish she was still around...
2. Do you have any brothers or sisters?
Not that I know of.
3. What is your extended family like?
Temur is like a father or a brother to me. He taught me so much and cared for me for a little while. Other than that, I don't have much extended family to speak of.
4. Do you consider close friends as important or more/less important than family?
Close friends are very important, especially if you lose all your family like I did. I just need some more!
5. Do you treat animals like family?
Of course. I love animals. I never had a pet myself, but I got to take care of a neighbor's dog one time and we had a lot of fun.

1. Where were you born?
I was born in Syliras.
2. Where do you live now?
I live wherever my work takes me, but Riverfall and Syliras are two places that I live on a regular basis.
3. If you could live anywhere in Mizahar where would that be?
I would love to live in the fabled city of Lhavit for awhile. I also hear Mura is beautiful.
4. Do you have a favorite place to vacation or spend leisure time?
Mithryn is a great place to spend time during the spring!
5. Where do you fear to be?
Ravok. Sunberth is a close second.


Traits :
1. Do you have any physical weaknesses (disease, scars, and missing limbs?)
Not yet!
2. Are you right handed or left handed?
Left handed, but I write with my right hand.
3. What languages do you speak? What do you sound like? Do you have an accent?
I speak Common and Fratava and some words in Pavi. The sailors say I have an noticable Sylirian accent and Temur says I butcher Pavi. I've also been told I have a pleasantly deep voice.

4. Do you have any odd mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics?
I tend to bow a lot. People consider me overly formal, though the wealthy and upper class like that. And I find myself staring at people... a lot and it unnerves them.
5. Do you have (or want to get) any tattoos or piercing? Why do you have them (or will get them) ?
I don't have any tattoos or piercings, I might get a tattoo but probably not a piercing. I am still kind of on the fence about it.

1. What is your occupation?
I am a courier.
2. Do you like/dislike your work? Why?
I love my work! I bring people such happiness with my letters. Though, delivering bad news is not very enjoyable.
3. If you could be anything you wanted to, what would you be?
I would be a priest or mage or teacher!
4. What occupation do you admire the most? Why?
Magi are so mystical, watching them at festivals is so mesmerizing.
5. What occupation do you lest like? Why?
Beggars. Poverty is understandable, but get a job! Even peasants have a better lot in life then you do, and they work in the fields day in and day out.


Childhood :
1. What sort of child were you?
I was a sarcastic know it all.
2. What is your favorite memory from childhood?
The first day I rode a horse, mother was so proud.
3. What is your worst memory from childhood?
When my mother died.
4. What sort of relationship did you have with your parents?
Mother was the smothering sort, always wanted to know what I was doing and quick to give "advice".
5. Who was your most influential rolemodel?
Temur was my most influential role model, mother always called him my father figure.


Education :
1. What sort of education do you have?
I had a fairly basic education. My teacher wanted me to expand it into a scholarly setting, but I had to start working young
2. Do you like/dislike learning?
I love learning new things, new facts and bits of information. Used to be a bad habit when I was young to go "Did you know?"
3. Where or how did you learn most of your skills/abilities?
I learned many of my skills from my role model and mentor, Temur.
4. How do you learn best?
I learn best through example, either by my teacher doing it it, or being guided by the teacher
5. What are your educational goals for the future?
As far as education goals, learning about how to survive in the places I intend on travelling is the most important part. Everything else is just a habit from when I was young.


Relationships :
1. Do you form close bonds with people? Why? Why not?
When I make friends, I grow very attached and close to them. Whether this is reciprocated... well that is out of my hands. I just fear that they might disappear like my family and mentor has. This makes me hesitant to form close bonds.
2. Do you trust people easily? If not, why not?
I have a general trust in strangers, but not in individuals. I do not think strangers are going to harm me, but if I let an individual in as a close friend they can hurt me
3. Do you consider yourself straight, gay, bi, or something else?
Straight, but Caelum makes me wonder sometimes.
4. Have you ever been kissed? If so, describe the first time.
Recently, yes. Here
5. Have you ever had sex? If so, describe the first time.
Recently, yes. It was... intense.

Once. Never again if I can help it.

I'll drink a mug of ale or a glass of wine every now and then.

Wine is a bit tastier and is supposed to be better for you

I hate the feeling of losing control of myself, so I'll drink enough to get that warm feeling. Since I've never had any drugs, I can't say for sure, but if it makes me feel like I lose control of myself I can say that I won't like it very much

I enjoy reading, horseback riding and recently I have taken up gardening!* (need to do some thread work with Lyn'nice about this)

I love stories about adventures and far away places.

Getting myself or my clothes dirty after I just cleaned them/bathed.

My best memory was the time I finally mustered the courage to go out and be a courier. My worst was coming home and finding Temur gone.

I wish I could change how I treated my friends after my mother died. I was very depressed.

I hate lying to others about my thoughts, but my feelings? Those get tucked away so that I often end up lying to myself.

I am prejudice against Ravokains and Sunberthians, but even then I'll give anyone a fair chance to prove me wrong.

My work. Eating fine food and wearing nice clothes.

I do my best to treat others with respect and honor. Ideally I would also be kind and generous but this doesn't always happen as I'd like it.

Temur, he was a positive influence in my life. Which is why I was heart broken when he left without saying good bye.

An ideal lover is one who will take my flaws and still love me, someone who I can open up to and not fear that I will drive them off.

I trust the Sylirian knights to protect myself and any law abiding citizen from harm. Similarly, any official of any city would have my trust.
