When her name left the woman’s lips, Vinn allowed a small smirk creep up onto her lips once more. It was pretty and as she tested the letters inside her mind, she was in awe. She hadn’t heard a name similar to that in a long while. In a way it somewhat reminded her of a friend she had back in Alvadas.
She inwardly shook her head vehemently from side to side. She would not think about her past and her mother’s savage ways of seduction. She was on her own, living of life by her standards, all of which she desired. She had control over what she did and she was not going to become her mother. She was better than that.
The mixed blood took the woman’s hand, flickering her eyes over her face. She was a plain lady without much appeal besides her caramel skin tone, but she was ordinarily beautiful either way.
Vinn never really appreciated people when they went all out with their appearance. She wasn’t overly fond of the peer pressure females had in trying to find a mate. She was different and not in the fact that she didn’t swoon over men. She just didn’t have the need to flaunt her body like it was a toy.
“My name is Vinn,” she said openly.
She had used a false name, an alias before, but Lorettana seemed friendly enough and even more so after she had gracefully offered to buy Vinn a drink.
She nodded her head saying, “I’d love one. Been guzzlin’ down this shyke for a while now. Need somet’in’ new, ya know?”
She didn’t bother with any more formalities. The two seemed evenly acquainted as they stood, one buying the other a drink. Sure, she never thanked her or showed her much gratitude, but a spark of inspiration had ignited within her mind, her spirit flourishing with imagination.
She took out her sketch book again, flipping open to a blank page with caution. She scanned her surroundings. There weren’t any more flying drinks around where there? She didn’t want to get the pages wet. She had priceless art work in here, or so she thought she did.
Vinn set her flask to the side, the contents already almost half empty. She had more back in her apartment, however, so she didn’t fret too much.
She focused her attention more prominently on Lorettana’s figure. It was hard to see from the wide dress she had on. Obscene images played in her mind then, some of which weren’t very appropriate, but they would suite to fix the problem. Why not just take her dress off? It was logical, and everyone had to assume to agree, didn’t they?
Either way, she started with her face, bringing one of her ink sticks to the side before picking it up so that it was held firmly in between both index finger and thumb. She started to sketch her face inconspicuously, using a conversation as a form of distraction.
“So why is someone like you out ‘ere?”
For some strange reason Vinn thought ‘someone like her’ should be back at the house caring for her young sister, cooking large meals for groups of people and reading stories by the fire place. Other thoughts of the woman doing tedious tasks like grooming horses or caring for pets came to mind, but she pushed them aside.
It wasn’t that she was very feminine, but not that exuberant as many other women were. She appeared more as the stay at home kind and watch over the children rather than the go out and party and show your stuff kind.
As she waited for an answer, and her drink to arrive, she outlined her face, increasing the pressure of her hand over parts that shaded her cheeks. She cut into the portion of her cheek bones, showing the elaborate maze of physicality.
Then, she started to shade, using the side of the ink stick to made a more faded and smudged appeal. She used the inside of her other thumb to caress the paper and deliver a silhouetted look.
This was going to be one of her best works yet, but she only hoped the lady didn’t mind.
