Lorettana entered the Obsidian club. Her plain brown eyes soaked everything in with a nervous heart. Tonight must be a blue moon for the ethaefal is actually out in public in her earthbound form. She didn't even have her cloak on to hide her fragile human body. She folded her hands together to stop them from shaking. No one would think this woman was 180 years old. In fact they would assume that she's sweet 20-something gal. A plain-jane type with some beauty.

Lorettana quickly step up to the bar. Her heart beating a million miles. She felt as if people were looking at her - judging her. Anytime someone giggled or laughed she felt as if it was towards her. I must look silly in my dress. She hadn't have chance to buy a new one that properly fits her. Her white dress was made for her true form. Right now it loosely clung to her body and gave her no shape. The affect caused her to appear as a tiny teenaged child-like girl. It was easy to say that the gal looked out of placed.

"Excuse me, can I have a Liquid Garden,"
Lorettana requested holding two Kina between her fingers. The bartender forwards his eyebrows a bit at the strange accent but, he confusion quickly disappeared. He soon nodded with a handsome smile. Then quickly as possible prepared the drink. Before gently handing it to Lorettana. The woman immediately took a sip. Seriously tasting the burning flavor of raspberry and apple juice. "Amazing," She said, no longer bothering to speak in common.

Still when Lorettana examines her hands. They were shaking. Why am I so nervous? Why does Leth rule make me so nervous? I'm acting like a nervous school girl. The woman laughed at her own thoughts. "I'm so silly,".

Lorettana re-adjust herself on the stool. One foot gets caught somehow causing Lorettana to stumble towards the left. Her drink slips from her hand and spilled over to whoever is sitting next to her. "Oh my! I'm so sorry! Please forgive!" Her cheeks got warm ,her plain eyes went wide, she smashed her hands against her lips. Like it's the most shocking thing ever happen. "So sorry."

A Night out (Vinn)

Vinn had had enough. She was talking to a man to the right of her, arguing over something daft and unimportant. She knew she was clearly right in her allegations upon the man, yet he wouldn’t drop the subject.

“I jus’ don’t see why yer disagreein’ with me,” she sneered before turning her head in the opposite direction. She set one foot on the floor of the tavern and proceeded to find another empty seat by the bar.

She had been lonely the past few nights, wandering aimlessly through the town, looking and searching for anything that seemed fun or creative. She had wound up at this club, though she forgot the name, and here she was with her flask in hand and her blank book and ink stick in the other, trying to find somewhere to sit.

Her line of sight quickly landed on an open seat and she shuffled over to claim it as her own. She sat next to a woman of whom she paid little attention to. She had meant to come here for laughs and maybe some inspiration for her artistic side, but she wasn’t prevailing in attaining either desires.

She took a sip from her flask, feeling the acidic rum flowing down her throat and into her stomach. She wiped the corner of her upper lip with the back of her sleeve before leaning over the bar counter.

She was about to open her sketch book in terms to start drawing someone or something when a liquid substance plummeted onto her like a heavy rainfall.

Vinn cried out, cursing thousands of vulgar words in response to the suddenness of the attack. “What the petch you petcher?”

And then she looked over at the person who assaulted her with her drink. It was a woman with skin the colour of chocolate and eyes that gave off dull radiance of brunette shades. Her hair was curly and short, hugging her cheeks with large amounts of authority. She was rather short, but not much shorter than Vinn, herself. She was stunning in a type of normalcy.

When the woman pleaded for forgiveness, Vinn decided to lower her aggression to a mere degree as she widened her eyes as she readjusted her clothes. She tried to get the wet splotches of her shirt and pants to neglect touching her flesh. She cleared her throat, but kept a somber growl hidden for fear of manipulation as an outcome.

“’s fine,” she muttered, as she let her eyes trail over the woman’s body. “Can’t hold yer drink much, can ye?” she said, chuckling light heartedly although she was still fuming inwardly.

When the blonde woman turned around. Lorettana swore that a fight or an agrument would break out. I would be upset if someone spilled something on my dress. However the lady soften her expression when she met the ethaefal's eyes.

When all was well, Lorettana quickly observed the blonde woman's boyish features. Or perhaps the woman was just a girly man? One does not truly know these days. Nah, her voice is too high to be a man. Plus she is too pretty. A thin string of envy spirals around Lorettana a bit. Urgh, I really hate this form. I feel uglier than a wrench with a million warts on her face.

The unnamed woman had short choppy hair. There were a few strands of hairs that were white rather than blonde. But, the random spot fit well with the pale woman. Like her hair, the woman's eyes were stunning. Different shades of purple and red. Reminded her of this eathaefal she once met.

Lorettana bit on her right cheek to hold in some laughter. The story of that eathaefal is crazy. Like literally crazy, something was really wrong with that man. Because of him, she can never eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. However that's a different story for a different moment.

"Can't hold yer drink much can ye," the unnamed woman spoke after she looked Lorettana up and down. Not that the ethaefal minded. She was doing the same just a moment ago. When the blonde chuckled, Lorettana had a feeling not all was forgiven.

"In a way yes. I'm a little clumsy at times. I really should get a tighter dress," she responded with a genuine smile. Then she extends her hand for the lady to shake. "I'm Lorettana. Please let me buy you drink." She reached into her small dress pocket, pulled out some money, and waved for a bartender.

I just hope she doesn't ask for anything for anything too expensive. I don't have that much money. Lorettana never carries all her money with her. The majority of it is in her room. Where, hopefully, Winona. Honestly who is going to carry over 500 Kina in there pocket. So at the moment Lorettana was only carrying around 30. She was planning on spending no more than 10 kina for her drinks. Then perhaps do some late night shopping. Though she was not sure what shops would be open.

Now, Lorettana is not cheap. There has been days where she would spend 100 mizas in one night. She loves buying presents for children, or people she considers children. Yet, at the same time Lorettana is not stupid.

A Night out (Vinn)

The Obsidian Club

When her name left the woman’s lips, Vinn allowed a small smirk creep up onto her lips once more. It was pretty and as she tested the letters inside her mind, she was in awe. She hadn’t heard a name similar to that in a long while. In a way it somewhat reminded her of a friend she had back in Alvadas.

She inwardly shook her head vehemently from side to side. She would not think about her past and her mother’s savage ways of seduction. She was on her own, living of life by her standards, all of which she desired. She had control over what she did and she was not going to become her mother. She was better than that.

The mixed blood took the woman’s hand, flickering her eyes over her face. She was a plain lady without much appeal besides her caramel skin tone, but she was ordinarily beautiful either way.

Vinn never really appreciated people when they went all out with their appearance. She wasn’t overly fond of the peer pressure females had in trying to find a mate. She was different and not in the fact that she didn’t swoon over men. She just didn’t have the need to flaunt her body like it was a toy.

“My name is Vinn,” she said openly.

She had used a false name, an alias before, but Lorettana seemed friendly enough and even more so after she had gracefully offered to buy Vinn a drink.

She nodded her head saying, “I’d love one. Been guzzlin’ down this shyke for a while now. Need somet’in’ new, ya know?”

She didn’t bother with any more formalities. The two seemed evenly acquainted as they stood, one buying the other a drink. Sure, she never thanked her or showed her much gratitude, but a spark of inspiration had ignited within her mind, her spirit flourishing with imagination.

She took out her sketch book again, flipping open to a blank page with caution. She scanned her surroundings. There weren’t any more flying drinks around where there? She didn’t want to get the pages wet. She had priceless art work in here, or so she thought she did.

Vinn set her flask to the side, the contents already almost half empty. She had more back in her apartment, however, so she didn’t fret too much.

She focused her attention more prominently on Lorettana’s figure. It was hard to see from the wide dress she had on. Obscene images played in her mind then, some of which weren’t very appropriate, but they would suite to fix the problem. Why not just take her dress off? It was logical, and everyone had to assume to agree, didn’t they?

Either way, she started with her face, bringing one of her ink sticks to the side before picking it up so that it was held firmly in between both index finger and thumb. She started to sketch her face inconspicuously, using a conversation as a form of distraction.

“So why is someone like you out ‘ere?”

For some strange reason Vinn thought ‘someone like her’ should be back at the house caring for her young sister, cooking large meals for groups of people and reading stories by the fire place. Other thoughts of the woman doing tedious tasks like grooming horses or caring for pets came to mind, but she pushed them aside.

It wasn’t that she was very feminine, but not that exuberant as many other women were. She appeared more as the stay at home kind and watch over the children rather than the go out and party and show your stuff kind.

As she waited for an answer, and her drink to arrive, she outlined her face, increasing the pressure of her hand over parts that shaded her cheeks. She cut into the portion of her cheek bones, showing the elaborate maze of physicality.

Then, she started to shade, using the side of the ink stick to made a more faded and smudged appeal. She used the inside of her other thumb to caress the paper and deliver a silhouetted look.

This was going to be one of her best works yet, but she only hoped the lady didn’t mind.

Lorettana ordered two Liquid Gardens. She carefully slid one glass in front of Vinn. The woman noticed Vinn never said thank you or anything like that. But, it didn't bother the "mother" one bit. She was too busy enjoying the burning sensation slipping down her throat. Then warming her belly like the sun. It's strange how the liquid goes down to one's stomach yet, clouds the brain. Already her cheeks and ears felt warm. And her nerves started to drift to sleep. And her lady like manners thinking of wondering toward the streets.

In the silence of the two newly met girls. Lorettana comfortably stared at Vinn. Watching the blonde take out a sketch book. She's an artist, the storyteller made a note. She suspected much anyway. Anyone could tell that Vinn was not your traditional girl. A rebel, trendsetter, an artist, outspoken woman, and perhaps a troublemaker. Just plain different. And as an entertainer of sorts. Different was the most exciting thing.

What stories does this lady have? Will she inspire me in someway? Would she make an interesting story? Would she fit better in an adventure or a drama? What is her mother like? Where does this person come from? Why is she here? What kind of lovers does she like? Does she even believe love? Does she like cookies and tea? Because I could for some cook -

"So why is someone like you out 'ere?"

Lorettana snapped back to the real world at sound Vinn's voice. How would I describe Vinn;s voice? Country? Husky? Tough? Strong yet sweet. Yes. That's it. "Oh just looking for inspiration that all. And plus Winona been getting on my nerves. I love that girl more than anything. I would sacrifice my heart in chime for her. However she is annoying. Being around her all day and all night is exhuasting. Especially when you are teaching her speak/sign common, and how to write in regular size font. It's hard because I'm not a master writer myself. Which is strange when I think about it...

Anyway, do you come here often?"
Seem like the type to do that. Lorettana finished her drink and went, "aaaaaaaah." She loved the painful burning and the warmness engulfing her. The woman laced her fingers together and cracked them while rolling her shoulders. She closed her eyes tight as her tiny grin grew. Wow, alcohol hits me faster when I'm earthbound.

The storyteller had to blink a few times. Her vision started to blurr. She eyed Vinn's sketch book. "Are you an artist," Lorettana asked. Turning completely toward the blonde lady, placing her elbow on the counter, and resting her cheek on her palm.

For a quick moment, while waiting for Vinn response. Lorettana eyes traveled around the club. The middle of the room was wide open space. Well perhaps not open at the moment. Filled with all kinds of people dancing closely to each other. Men occasionally grabbing a pretty woman's hand then whispering in her ear. Whispering vulgar sweet nothings. So woman slip out of the men's arms and go elsewhere. Other slap the fellows for such a comment. Some just blush while drunkenly giggled.

A few people were talking loudly. Lorettana suspected an argument was going on. One which will eventually break out into a fight. As long the chocolate colored woman does not see. She simply doesn't care. Off to side are the private rooms. Lorettana can faintly hear what's going on. Part of her doesn't want to know. (Another part of wishes she could be apart of what's going on.)

The Obisidian club was crowded. Her precious "daughter" could walk in and Lorettana would never even noticed.

The woman instantly went off on a tangent of sorts as soon as the questions had left Vinn’s lips. Questions riled her senses at the mention of some other woman. Who was this Winona exactly? Was she her sister? Or perhaps a cousin? She couldn’t possibly be her daughter seeing as how young and beautiful the woman was.

She was about to ask, and put her mind at ease when she was asked a question instead.

“Nope,” she said heavily before taking a drink from what Lorettana had ordered for her. The taste was invigorating and unique, unlike anything she had ever tasted before. It was lighter and more vivid, the colours eliciting inside her mind like colourful bubbles popping inside her mouth. Unlike the rum and ale she was used to drinking, this seemed much finer in a multitude of ways. She would forever loath the regular stuff she had in her flask now, and that was a promised guarantee.

“I jus’ arrived in this city ‘few days ‘go now. Gotta check out the bars first, right?”

She hastily swallowed another large gulp, feeling the fire in her stomach burning, feeding off of the alcohol as it swarmed in her soul and erupted from the base of her nose. Her eyes stung slightly, but she did not permit tears to fall. She leant back and stifled a belch before answering yet another inquiry from her new acquaintance.

“I like ta think of m’self as an artist,” she said rather curtly before rectifying her tone of voice. “’Though I don’t think myself as much good. Ya see, I like ta sketch and doodle, but when my mind’s right… I can draw things n’ne can ever b’able ta see.”

She flipped open to a page she had drawn a few days ago. Displayed on the paper was a creature with horns coming from its head and wings coming from out its back. Feathers and diamonds encrusted themselves upon its hide and more jewels dangled from his antlers by spindly wires or strings of widow’s yarn. More decadent art was plastered on other sections of the beast, and it was all coloured with the vivid ink she had succumbed to collecting whilst on a stroll through the town one day.

“That’s only one of my drawin’s,” she concluded before flipping to a blank page again.

She noticed a swirling sensation bubbling in the pit of her stomach. It was nausea, for it had more of a tickling feeling to it. She knew instantly that she was becoming tipsy. What with the rum she had been drinking from her flask and the fresh drink she had just been handed by the bartender, it shouldn’t have posed any bewilderment on her part.

The sorrowful thing and rather embarrassing thing, however, is that Vinn often became loud and rowdy whenever she drank to the full extent of drunkenness. She despised the after effects of the events she often displayed and therefore only liked to drink in secluded places.

This was one of the times where she didn’t get her wish.

Vinn gazed around, her eyes locking and observing various people. She conjured up crazy thoughts in her head already, wondering how they would play out had she the chance to find out.

She took another large gulp from the beverage in front of her before an idea popped into her head.

“I could draw you ya know,” she said suddenly, bringing the woman’s attention back to her. “Only on one condition,” she continued, plotting to create a gamble of sorts. “I get’a draw ya, and you get’a keep the sketch only if I get’a ask ya some questi’ns.”

The wager was made. Didn’t that seem relatively fair?

A Night out (Vinn)

The drawing was obviously carefully made. There were no noticeable smudges or shading going outside the outlines of the creature for Lorettana's drunken eyes to see. Though the drawing wasn't the most amazing picture she ever seen. Her eyes has viewed better artist but, everyone must start somewhere. However the art with it's vivid inking demanded the woman's attention. Lorettana usually would be thinking about what inspired this image. Any smart storyteller would acquire the story behind the art, behind the artist.

Then again a pool of liquor is starting to form in her head. Her eyesight is blurred and Vinn seems surprisingly even more handsome then before. She can't really sit up straight so she must use her arm for support. As Lorettana sips on her second drink, she ponders on stopping. Then decides against because... why should she? These all signs that Lorettana is tispy.

The ethaefal gives Vinn a smile and said, "It's beautif'l." While Vinn takes her moment to look around. Lorettana focused on taking a few gulps, finishing the Liquid Garden then ordering a Lava Peach. Once the drink was in her hands so took two sips and basically purred. Loving the sweet taste of fruit contradicting the strange flavor of whiskey.

"I could draw you ya know," Vinn said suddenly. Lorettana's boring brown eyes light up with a unnecessary burst of joy. For whatever reason she loved the idea of someone drawing her right now. It's like a little girl drawing her mommy!! Aww. But, it's professional so I don't have to pretend to like it. Oh how she could see it now. Lorettana, Winona, and Vinn. Vinn, Lorettana, Winona? Winona, Vinn and Lorettana? Doesn't matter now; they'll decide the order lately.

Only on one condition,Vinn continued, causing the storyteller to raise an eyebrow. I get’a draw ya, and you get’a keep the sketch only if I get’a ask ya some questi’ns.

Lorettana narrowed her eyes at the blonde. Of course the "mother" is not a criminal or that important of a person. Yet, giving out too much personal information can hurt the strongest man. What's the worse she could ask? If I think I shouldn't answer. I'll avoid the questions with ease.

The brown woman changes her expression to a pleasant one. " Ask away, my comrade."

Her eyes were saucers of chestnut, boring into Vinn’s purple gaze. The woman’s pupils dilated which in turn made the hybrid smirk.

Oh how she fathomed bars and taverns alike. The fights, the arguments, the woman and the men. Everything that occurred was bound to cause turmoil of one sort or the other. She was joyous to start the first sentence, crafting a wager, a bet of sorts. It was childish and held no true meaning as to what the stakes were or what the outcome would potentially present itself as, but it was a gamble nonetheless. When the woman accepted, it only caused the ignition point in her heart to set aflame.

Vinn flipped to an open page and crossed her left leg over her right, shifting her body so that she was directing facing Lorettana. She groaned, a wisp of air leaving her lips like a leaf fluttering from a limb of a tree. The wind carried it away, the alcohol that had tainted her breath striking the surrounding air.

She grabbed at the beverage on the counter and chugged down the remaining liquid, feeling a buzz bite the front of her head and then gently caress the tip of her tongue.

What questions would she ask her? It was a whim, the heat of the moment, a splurge that had counteracted with the drunkenness that was threatening to take over her form. She would become a blob of nothingness is a few moments, and that much she knew for certain.

She reached over and replaced the empty glass with her ink stick and carried it in between her index finger and thumb in a delicate fashion. She allowed her wrist to fluctuate until it had regained the proper posture. Her lower arm hovered over the canvas as she inhaled deeply, clearing her mind and centering in on more important focuses.

She brought the utensil down onto the paper, hard enough to cause small sparks of black ink to shatter off. She merely blew there particles of debris away before creating a border, an outline of which she used her thumb to mar. She smudged the line, creating a shadow on one side of the woman’s figure. She highlighted the other by creating a solid, thick line. She included her shoulders, curving the origin until it appeared satisfactory.

She worked on the basis of the image for a few more moment before finally having the strength to muster up something to ask. She had conjured up memories, something Lorettana had spoken of a few conversations before. What was the child’s name again? Winilla? Winroa? Winona? Her mind was starting to defy her.

She would ask her about her. And so she did.

“Who’s Winona?” she inquired, taking a split second to glance up to witness her reaction to the name that trickled off Vinn’s lips. “Is she yer fr’nd? Yer cousin? A child ya care for?”

And then she went back to drawing.

Lorettana giggled at see Vinn be so passionate about her drawing. The blonde was now completely facing the storyteller. Though for a few chimes she didn't speak. Rather focused on the white sheet of paper; making gentle yet stern wrist movements with her ink stick. The ethaefal couldn't quite see the work in progress. Neither should she, really. Art should only be viewed, read, or listened to once it is finished. It'll ruin the surprise.

Oh how Lorettana loves surprises. The brown woman nurses the Lava Peach waiting to be asked some questions. Hope I'm not too drunk to inappropriately answer these questions. Or say something too embarrassing or something to give me a negative connotation. Mani did always say to be cautious when speaking and drinking. The woman wasn't too concern about Vinn's drawing abilities while being drunk. Surely Vinn is skilled enough to create a masterpiece while liquor spoiled her mind.

Who’s Winona?Vinn inquired, finally glancing up at the guardian. It was a very predictable question. But Winona was one her favorite topics. So naturally Lorettana's eyes glazed over with sweet affection. "Is she yer fr’nd? Yer cousin? A child ya care for?

"I guess you can she my cherrrild," Lorettana slurrs at the end. "I did not b'rth her. She's a chaktawe and I'm etheafal. However I have taken the role of her guardian. I pay for her needs and... and.." Lorettana trails at the end. Forgetting how to say something in common for a moment. "Oh! I pay for her neeeeds and teach all she kn'ws. I even taught her how to speak common, though 'm afraid I didn't do a ssplendid job. I love her more than anything. Sometimes I wish she would call me mother."

A said glint shines her eyes. She never confessed that out loud before. For whatever reason, Lorettana was proud for getting it off her chest. Now only if she could say that in Common and in front of her daughter.

A Night out (Vinn)

Vinn listened to every word the woman said and each sentence that rolled off her tongue, she took a sip from her flask, her beverage now empty.

Her mind buzzed and her feet tingled. Her tongue felt like it was on fire and her brain was spinning and spinning as if it had lost the bolt and nut to its axis. She sighed before continuing with her sketch.

She thickened the outline before proceeding to add detail to the face. She traced the eyes, traversing over the eyelid before adding flecks of “colour” to her eye ball. She made the waterline thicker as if her model was wearing eyeliner.

She then moved on to the eyebrow. She spattered lead and ink over the foundation of the shape, making sure to add texture to her work. She continued to draw, sketching before describing with better words. The words were those of art and Vinn was telling the story with her hands rather than her mouth.

She sort of blanked out when Lorettana was speaking about the child Winona. She recalled some letters forming words and some words formulating sentences. She was her child, but not of blood relation. A guardian more or less.

An’ the way she’s so passionate n’ protective over her… it’s eerie, bu’ somewhat ‘spected and accept’ble, she thought quietly, without drawing any attention to any facial expressions she would have possessed had she not been careful.

“Where’s she at right now?” she asked without thinking. Who cares where she’s at right now? She’s not three. Yet, the thought wavered in the air, before Vinn mustered up the courage.

The woman was so enticingly beautiful and her face was ordinary, but unique and told genuine tales of emotion, unlike those plastic, phony women the hybrid ran into every now and then. She was someone special because she was original and bland.

Instead of letting the questions waft in the air like a foul smell, she waved the stagnant smell away with the back of her hand, a latent gesture, but one obvious all the same. She carried on, avoiding the answer if she were to receive any.
