Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

7th of Spring, 514

The sunlight burned at the Tempest's eyes as he ambled about on his casinor, fingers gripped at the gunwale of his ship as he realized how poorly this would go. Tydus knew that the shakes were a poison, but he had no idea they were capable of ruining his eyes like they did. They burned with each exposure to the light, he struggled to see from afar. By the Gods, he had attempted to divine the lettering upon his flask from less than three feet away and found that he lacked the ability to do so. Driven to the brink by the uselessness in his eyes, Tydus Tempest was low. He, at the very least, had earned money in the endeavor, and the dagger that was his bounty was held at his side rather than his cutlass, which he deigned too heavy and dangerous to carry around at all times.

Plus, it was Tatianna's damn cutlass. He had collected it to preserve her memory, but found it to be nothing but spiteful, a self-deprecating, self-destructive memento of the past that he decided was better left to a time when he wished to remember and not forget the nightmarish occurrence that was the decimation of the Tempest pod. He set the dagger aside as he reached to the sash that kept the weapon to his waist, raising it over his eyes and tying a knot with them, deciding that if his eyes were useless, he was better off navigating by sound and staying on the ship until he was better suited to survival. At the very least, he had his tavan, Vesh, who would surely act as his guide until he recovered. The ship was a cage, he had to get off. A quick change of heart spurred him to call out to the tavan.

"Vesh! I need yer help again. Can't see for shyke... Blurry sons of shykes be mocking me, I swear..."

He referred to the people walking the docks, who Tydus perceived to be staring at him, laughing at his weakness, despite the very present and much more likely assumption that they likely didn't care or notice him at all. He growled at his powerlessness, cursed himself for his inability to see. He had, obviously, pushed far too far with his Hypnotism on the older man, who had resisted it to the extent that Tydus had needed to push his boundaries.

It's so much easier when they just go with it...

Tydus made sure he remembered that before deciding to manipulate the mind again. For the moment, he simply grumbled in his frustration, casting one foot in front of the other as he, for the first time, used the plank to get off of his casinor instead of simply jumping off and swimming about. Vesh guided the Svefra forward by gripping at his leg, knocking once when the Svefra approached a coil of hemp or something he could trip on, twice when he was about to collide into a barrel, and the pattern continued until the Svefra crossed the plank and made his way onto solid land.

"Can't stand this... Vesh, where should we go?"

Vesh looked up at the blinded Svefra, flapping his wings about before using one to point back to the casinor, though Tydus would see none of it. He progressed forward, and the penguin followed, waddling forward to the best of his ability to catch the Svefra he was bonded to, Tydus' pace slow to ensure that he could use his ears to navigate.

And of course, he failed. The Svefra collided into someone, presumably a young man, who quickly pushed him to the floor before walking away with a scoff. Tydus landed on his rump, absolute confusion festering upon his features.

"Damn it, Vesh! You're supposed to be helping!

Desolation (S'Essy)

This day was perfect for S'Essy. She just got up with a good mood and everything was going the way she wanted to go. It rarely happened and she was always thankful for these times. She was quite energetic and felt she had a lucky day. Syna was shining bright, even the weather reflected her mood. It couldn't be better day to go the coast, to visit Laviku's seas, maybe even swim a little, who knows?

She gladly headed down to the coast, took off her sandals and was walking on the sand with naked feet. She went close the sea, where the sea could touch her feet. A pleasent feeling. She was walking slowly, on that border towards the docks. Everywave of the sea which she could feel with her feet was making her feel good. Perfect day. Perfect. "Just the matter of chimes and I will start singing and dancing here!" A smile grow on her face.

She was close to the docks, many ships were there. She was wondering if she should go for a little sailing once. She loved the sea, and travelling on it, being on Laviku's seas it would be the best feeling. She wanted to feel it again. She also looked at the busy people, sailors on the dock. Minding their own business but one man got her attention. He was with a penguin who was guiding him. Or it seemed so. His walking was strange.

Then it happened, somebody bumped into him and the man fell. S'Essy didn't wait, she take back on her sandals and hurried up to the dock to help him. She was thinking to push that man into the sea, but she quickly swept away that thought from her mind. She went to the man and at that moment she could see the problem. There was something unnormal with his eyes. It was covered by sash. Not everybody had a lucky day.

She kneeled down to the man and finally introduced herself. Maybe he didn't even notice her. "Hello, I saw you need some help, so please allow me to do that. I'm healer, just hold on a second!" And with that she placed right hand on his eyes. By that touch she felt the Tavan bond, he had. He must be a svefra then, and that penguin must be his Tavan. But she didn't pay attention to that because she was focusing on Rak'keli's power to heal that man's eyes.

She felt the warmth of her power and she knew she was succesful. She took away her hand. His eyes looked more than fine now, she could remove the sash. She liked his eyes, it's like looking at the Laviku's domain. "Hope you can see now, you have pretty sea blue eyes. It would be a waste if you couldn't use them." She said and she was smiling at him warmly. He finally could see that. "I'm S'Essy! Do you need assistance with anything else?"

Desolation (S'Essy)

The Tempest scion heard a voice before anything else, the soothing sounds of a woman's voice as she approached him. Curiosity materialized upon his features, still hidden beneath the sash as she expressed her intention to help. She labeled herself as a Healer before without any sort of permission, she pressed her hand to the Tempest's still-covered eyes. The sensation that accompanied the invasion of his personal space was by far the most curious one he had ever felt. There was a vibration in his eyes, a soothing, gentle wave. He felt it swell within his eyes, the orbs blinking twice beneath the sash just before the garment was removed.

Eyes stayed closed after blinking for several ticks before they opened and with their opening there was... light. He felt it burn his eyes for several moments before they flickered open completely. A giddy laugh escaped his lips as he noted the woman's form in the entirety of its clarity. She was a beautiful woman, to be sure, hints of scales visible on her body, though the first and foremost thing of interest was the tattoo upon her forehead. It was strange, to say the least, and he passed it over several times before he reached forward to pull the Healer lass into a hug.

The Tempest's right arm ached with the dull pains of his cuts, his hand, as well, but he didn't care. He ignored it completely, instead focusing on the Healer and his gratitude for her. The tavan seemed to feel his joy, as well, waddling forward to join the Tempest in thanking the Konti lass for her assistance, wings placing themselves around the woman's waist in an effort to hug her as Tydus withdrew, a thoughtful expression set upon his features as he looked to her.

"Anyting else? Yeh mean, ye'd just do up any healing for a stranger, lass? Well, t'is so nice of ye to do so... I've got a few cuts on me arm that could use some treatment. But... there's something else, too."

Tydus had no idea whether or not it was capable of being healed, or if the woman was capable of it, but with no way of knowing the limitations of her ability, he decided to put it on the table. Tydus raised up his arms, allowing the woman to see the tremors in them triggered by the adrenal response of falling to the floor. They shook unconscious of his will for them to do so, a correlation he took to mean it too was a consequence of overgiving. He wondered if the woman could treat overgiving for a moment before realizing the sharpness of his vision answered the question for him.

"T'is a rather minor thing, too, but a've been noticin' that me hands have been shaking as of late. T'is... irritating, to say the least? Think ye could help me out with that?"

The Tempest scion considered ways he could repay the woman for assisting him, uncertainty rising in his mind. Tydus wasn't very good with debt.

She was a bit suprised first. Not a lot patient hugged her right away after the healing. But she was happy, and was proud of herself. Made somebody's day just as perfect as hers. Her arms also wrapped around the Svefra's and embraced him. But also, not able to see must have been terrifying for him. Still... she could get used to get this kind of thanking.

What even suprised her more when his Tavan came. S'Essy looked down to her waist as the little penguin tried to wrap his wings around her, also hugging. S'Essy's smile just became wilder and wilder. As Tydus withdrew, S'Essy sat down and picked up carefully the penguin, placing him on her lap. She could feel the deep bond between the Tavan and the Svefra. She was patting him. And paid attention to the man.

She chuckled at his question. "Those who call themselves Healers and don't offer their power even to a stranger, should be ashamed!" She was still smiling, but her voice was serious. They were dedicated to do this, and S'Essy took her duty seriously. She also paid attention to his arms now. Yes she saw both the cuts and the tremors. This could be a bit tiring but she could help it.

"Not a problem. Sorry little fellow, work to do!" She said to the Tavan and carefully placed him next to her. Then she went closer to him, placed her hands on both of his arms. First with her power she made the shakings stop. The warm power of Rak'keli went through her to mend him. Then both of her hands was on his right arm now, to close the cuts he got. It was simple, a bit tiring for her, but simple. She took away her hands again and gladly acknowlegded that every of his problem is gone. Or it seemed so. "And now you are healthier than ever."

Then her eyes fixed on his right shoulder. There was a tattoo on there. Although it only looked like a tattoo, it was different. It was like the sea with animals. They were moving, like they were alive. Could it be... "Is that Laviku's mark?" She asked as she slowly placed her hand on the mark, maybe it was like touching the sea. But it wasn't the case. She had never seen it, she could just guess it was.

The warmth returned when the woman placed her hands upon his arm, a surge of pleasure filling the Svefra's body as he felt his wounds close up, as if miraculously sutured together, though once the Konti was finished with her treatment, there was naught a sign left that she had even done anything. Where a deep cut had existed before, there was a faint, white scar, his arm healed completely without any sort of trace. The Tempest marveled as he noted that the tremors faded with the woman's power in practise. And it made him consider something as she asked about his gnosis. Was she too marked by a divine being? Did her power stem not from a magic that mortals wrested from the realm of djed and practiced themselves? But from a divine being?

Tydus had no way of knowing for sure, and the need to ask her was washed away by her own question. She pointed at the Oceanus upon Tydus' right shoulder, the mark breathing in response to her touch. The water rippled, bubbles forming in the vicinity of her hand as the whale moved from underneath, the Oceanus stretching and shifting to go away from her hand, moving upwards along his shoulder and sweeping onto his back. The sea twisted and shaped as it moved upon the Svefra's shoulder, sweeping currents moving the anemone that welled within the gnosis mark and pushing it, the fish following suit as the whale swam in the tide. It was, certainly, a remarkable event for someone to experience for the first time, but Tydus was used to it. There was not a single moment in Tydus' entire life that he had not had the mark. He had spent years toying with the way it moved and brushed along his body, but by now, the novelty of it was by and far over.

Instead, he allowed a smile to grace his features as he nodded slowly, tapping at the ground in calling of Vesh. The penguin answered his call, nuzzling into the Healer one last time before he moved to Tydus, the Tempest scion holding the penguin close to his body. The penguin noted the strength in the Tempest's actions, visibly celebrating as he nestled into his arms, flapping its wings excitedly against the Svefra's body. The young man smiled before he replied to the Healer,

"T'is so, lovely lady. Laviku's mar' on me body. T'is called Oceanus, it is. What about ye?"

Now that he had answered her question, he in turn had one, curiosity coursing through his mind as he looked to the woman's forehead,

"How'd ye do that? And... that tattoo... T'is a strange mark for a bead, isn' it? T'is a lovely tattoo, and yer lovely, too. But t'is strange, at the vury least."

Then she noticed, it was like the sea, she was wrong. Her eyey widened as she was watching what was happening. Bubbles appeared, the water was moving away with the whale which was escaping from her hand. Wonderful, she was amazed. Then her hand slid to his back, following his mark. Like a child she was toying with it and she enjoyed it. The mark again changed place, going to his right shoulder. S'Ess was about to slide her hand again but quickly stopped and got a little scared.

She was really close to the svefra now as she ws touching his body all over. She pulled away her hand, she was embarassed, she felt she was childish. "Sorry..." she murmured. she looked into his eyes. It was like the sea was in there.
Her guess was right. That beautiful mark of his was Oceanus. "Not everyone can understand our God....more like Father. I don't understand him completely either, but he blessed me as well to explore his water's beauty.

She chuckled about his Tavan. They indeed had a strong bond, a bond which could not be broken easily. She was flattered by the man she couldn't lie. She felt herself closer to him than anyone. "That is my other gift, Healing. Mark of Rak'keli the goddess of health and healing" She poked her mark with her finger twice. It wasn't moving.

Then she stood up and looked down at him. Why should she leave so sooon? She could spend a little time with him. She already liked him. Maybe because his connection to Laviku, at least one of the reason was this. She was offering her hand to him. "How about I join to you a bit? Unless I'm disturbing. Maybe you can also share your name and not only your pretty eyes."

The Konti's touch was rather playful, completely innocent regarding location and pressure, but the Tempest didn't seem to mind. He couldn't remember the last time Oceanus had become such a novelty, and in truth, it was amusing. The mark leapt from his back when she touched it, bubbles surfacing at the pressure as it trans-located to his ribcage at the right side, then to his chest and finally back to his right shoulder when the woman finally realized she had been touching him in a way that she perceived to be inappropriate. Tydus didn't care, personally. It was the culture of the Svefra to be amorous, wrestling games between sixteen year old Svefra male and females quickly turning to impassioned intercourse about the bedrooms of the ship. Parties were rife with the sounds of drinks pounding onto the table and moans crashing in rhythm of the ocean's tide. It was a natural and normal thing to do to explore the human body.

After all, survival depended depended on it. Intercourse was an extension of the human lifecycle, a reason why Svefra women were so revered in the culture, for with them they brought creation, just as with Laviku, there was sustenance. The Svefra race survived by the wealth of females that populated their ranks, raised above the status of men and revered both as leaders and lifegivers. They were not superior, but deserved their position of leadership.

The thoughts flooded the Svefra's mind for a moment, distracting him until the woman began to speak again, with regards to their father, Laviku, God of the Seas and Oceans. She spoke of having his blessing, yet she lacked the familiar swelling and ebbing of the tides that he felt in one blessed with Oceanus. Was she lying to him? Claiming to be blessed but not having the mark of Laviku? Or... was she something else? There were several races that the Tempest scion had learned about in stories and tales, though his understanding of them and his knowledge of their names was woefully incomplete. Bedtime stories told at a young age were forgotten in the midst of the chaos that was the live of Tydus Tempest.

The Tempest scion simply nodded before allowing his gaze to, again, flicker to the scales on her hands and neck. She seemed like a mixture, a delicate mixture of fish and man, the legends stirring in his mind once again, but he could not pin the name of the people he was thinking of for the life of him. His brow creased in frustration before she skipped ahead to her other 'blessing.'

Rak'keli? Health and Healing?

The Goddess' name was unfamiliar to him, though the ability to heal that the woman before him just expressed clearly labeled it as magic. Divine Magic, it seemed. His suspicions were confirmed, though by no means did he see it as a threat, particularly when the woman who had performed the magic was so friendly and asked him if he needed more assistance. Gratitude made its way into the Svefra's mind once again as he listened to her request. She desired company? The Svefra was by no means intent on refusing the company of such a lovely, useful lass. Tydus smiled at the woman before taking her hand. He made his way to his feet, slowly pulling the woman to hers as well before looking around,

"Teh name's Tydus, lass. Tydus Tempest, and it'd be me pleasure to keep yeh some company forra while. I dun know much about teh city, though. Tend to keep to teh docks and teh ship."

The Tempest pointed to the ship he shared with Kel, the Laviku's Wrath, but did not invite her on board just yet.

"Would yeh like to go into town? I could treat yeh to a drink for savin' me eyes."

Her day became better and better by every chime. Her smile widened as he accepted her offer. Did Laviku send him to her? Or was she sent by Laviku to him? Either way, she was glad that she met with him. Tydus Tempest. She got his name at last. And he was real a svefra, spending most of the time near the sea. She looked at the ship he was pointing. Interesting as it was.

She couldn't imagine what could it be, sailing all the time, just let the winds bring you wherever it blows. Also wandering around Mizahar and the cities near Laviku's domain. Getting know new cultures, new people. Charming life it was. She looked back at him and she was smilling. A drink. She hadn't had a drink with someone for a long time. Just once in a while couldn't hurt.

"So Tydus! And don't worry about the healing, it's my pleasure to help. But I would gladly accept a drink. Actually I don't know any good place for that, haven't done that really." She said and with that she was following him wherever he would lead her. But she nearly forgot about something, she looked down at his Tavan. "Would this little fellow follow as well?"

Desolation (S'Essy)

It was a conundrum for the Tempest scion to decide exactly which bar to go into. Just in the past week or so, he had been thrown out of two bars and had enacted shady deals and gambling in another. His habits of drinking to the excess were beginning to turn to disastrous exploits about the city of Riverfall, but Tydus was enjoying himself. He remembered the night he had convened with Kel, and the resulting flirtation and Hypnosis he had enacted, a learning lesson and a failure, really.

The night with Adi came next. Then he recalled brawling with Stefan, Adney and Kel two nights after. Then the night in the Rat Hole. All three left their traces upon him, the last more than the other two, and none of the three had ended in anything but bad tidings for business dealings in the taverns of Riverfall. Of course, that could all be rectified by a simple wave of his hand and a charming word or so, but the Tempest neglected to do so. For the moment, all he cared about was his own personal enjoyment.

And of course, to show the lass that had healed him so effectively a good time.

The thought was present in his mind, and the Svefra decided that the bar that had been the setting for his reunion with Kel was perhaps the safest bet for the Svefra and his lovely Konti companion to enjoy themselves, uninterrupted by the chaos that was the Tempest pod's actions. He led the Konti through the streets of Riverfall, ascending and descending through the place at a leisurely pace as he held the Konti's hand tightly,

"Course Vesh'll follow. He's me bes' friend, ye know."

And as expected, the penguin trailed behind Tydus and the Konti, waddling his way along the rising hills of the city, rolling on his stomach at the dips the place offered. It was an interesting place to walk, for sure, but for Vesh, it was likely a paradise save for the weather. The Tempest looked back to see his penguin tavan rolling down the hill like an avalanche, a chuckle escaping his lips as he decided to treat the Konti lass with a tale of his and Vesh's shared past,

"Vesh was born in me arms, ye know. His mudder was teh tavan of a Svefra woman in me Pod. Saved me life, that lovely penguin did, bless its soul. The lil' one ere is all thas' left o' her. She passed a coupla years back. Left me to raise this little un here. Named him me tavan and him and me 'ave been soul mates e'er since."

The story was kept rather vague, for it recalled Tydus of the Pod, and the Tempests. Specifically, it reminded him of Lia Tatianna, a face that haunted his memories via nightmare. He didn't need to recall her in the daylight. He pursed his lips for a moment before attempting to recall which direction they were going, making a wrong turn as he attempted to navigate the city of Riverfall to no avail.

The pair ended up having to turn around and eventually, they found their way to the Blue Bull tavern. Ty let go of the woman's hand and allowed her to enter first. So early in the day, the bar was rather empty, the isolated tables left with none to sit at them as the more present drunkards of the day pressed to the bar.

"Pick yer seat. Teh saviour gets ta' choose teh table."

She was curious which place he would lead her. She knew a few inn but never really visited any. Somehow she wasn't brave enough to go there alone. She also felt a bit strange how he was holding her hand while walking to their destination. Not like she would refuse it, but he was being that grateful? Well he invited her to a drink. Not every of her patient was that grateful, some just took it as a natural thing, which was true, though S'Essy liked to get only at least a little thanks.

She looked back with Tydus as he said he would follow. Such a bond they had, they would follow each other everywhere. S'Essy liked to get know people's bond, because of her gift. She could understand the nature of it more. She was smiling at the Tavan how he was following them. She was in Riverfall but the atmosphere was so different around her now. Like she was walking in another world.

She looked back at Tydus as he was telling the tale of Vesh to her. So Tavans were more than just bondmates to them. They were part of the family, they were their best friends. They even save lifes of the svefras. Amazing, Laviku's world was more amazing than she imagined. She looked back at the Tavan. Thinking back a bit, he was the one who was leading Tydus while he was blind. "I felt your bond strong for the first time. Now I know why." She said, not even thinking that he might be confused about this.

After a few turning, they arrived to the Blue Bull tavern. A stone building, she had never been in there. She entered first and looked around. Not much people in there. She didn't mind though, probably better that way. She was looking around where to sit. "Saviour. Dear, you are flattering me." She said back to him, while she found a table near the hearth. Small and quiet place where they could just be and enjoy themselves.

"There!" She pointed and went there to take a seat. She also picked up the Tavan and placed on her lap. She just couldn't stop herself, she adored the penguin. "Wanna be me lil' friend, Vesh? " She asked him, trying to copy the way Tydus was speaking. She didn't meant to offend him with it of course.
