“Xen sighs.
Another stranger would go about the world, knowing his name while he would not know theirs. Well, at least this stranger was sociable and normal… in a good way! Oryani, in this vast and strange world called Falyndar, did not try to eat him or spit venom at him. Xen was thankful for this and Oryani’s normality . Well, if he took her eyes into consideration then he couldn’t call her entirely normal, could he? They were pretty cool, if only he could have eyes like those. Wait a second… he could morph his eyes to the likeness of Oryani’s eyes! She would probably find his act interesting, fascinating and or terrifying but either way he would have results.
Xen changes the way he sat to be able to assume a cross-legged sitting posture. The way he fixed his legs beneath him was as though he was about to undertake a session in meditation. Xen sets his full attention onto Oryani’s form, his silent, analyzing gaze met with her eyes. He empties his mind to allow the color and image of Oryani’s eyes to settle within his thoughts. Xen uses the emotions he felt when he first witnessed Oryani’s eyes to fuel his djed, as it flows through his eyes. The visage of two black eyes levitates within his mind, resembling two black holes in the expanse of his consciousness.
Xen then commands the djed within his eyes while saying the word ‘change’ in the ancient-tongue. The silent command he gave seems to echo from his mind into and throughout his entire body, as a chill runs down his spine. The process started slowly, as Xen anticipated. The djed tasked with changing these eyes was his after all; his lax nature and inexperience showed during transformations. Xen could feel the corners of his eyes tingling and sensation of change coming over them. Upon feeling this, he deepens his concentration and in-tunes his mind to the flow of his djed.
In these short ticks the corners of both Xen’s eyes had blackened. The blackness that occupies his eyes could be seen spreading, branching across the whites of his sclera. Xen was trying his hardest to avoid blinking but the many chimes going without so made his decision difficult to fulfill. He could feel his eyelids wanting to close and relieve his eyes of the stinging. Xen ends up blinking in the end but continues to concentrate on his djed. He keeps the flow of djed he maintained calm, as overgiving was one of his many do-not-wants . The very thought of overgiving gave him the chills and was one of the many reasons why he limited the use of his magic.
Xen casts the thought of overgiving in the back of his mind, he needed to remain unperturbed. In the five chimes that passed, his eyes were almost entirely black. Xen inhales and then exhales calmly to keep himself in self-possession. The process was almost done, he could sense it and all that was needed was patience and time. The Gecko that had flown into his face just minutes ago had eaten and was now ready to go. The Gecko that had appeared from nowhere, jumps from his hair, glides through the air and lands onto the trunk of a nearby tree. Xen heard a little squeaky-chirp from the Gecko and smiles, it was like the little reptile was saying thanks .
Xen then closes his eyes, believing it was safe to do so and raises both of his hands to massage them. He rubs the thin layer of flesh with his fingers to try to alleviate the stress. Xen stops and removes his hands from over his eyes. He didn’t feel different but kept the djed flowing into his eyes. Xen wasn’t entirely sure but he believed his eyes were entirely black now.
“Okay, you’re sstaying in Taloba because you were a sslave on a Ssvefra boat but then the myrian’ss helped you by killing the sslaverss?”
Xen uses more of his precious brainpower to decipher Oryani’s story. He figures the full details were to be expected some other time, believing that if Oryani lived with the myrian’s then her distrust towards dhani was probably the same. Xen’s suspicions return, his mind back at unease. He hoped that his guest’s hatred towards the dhani did not rival the myrian’s or was equal to theirs. This would sadden him; he was beginning to like Oryani and believed they could have become friends.”
