A Zulaca Tailoring Business.

This lazy agricultural settlement rests on the swampy shores of the Middle Suvan at the delta of The Kenash River. The River's slow moving bayou waters have bred a different sort of people - rugged, cultured, and somewhat violent. Sprawling plantations of tobacco and cotton grow on the outskirts of the swamp in the rich Cyphrus soils, while the city itself curls around the bayou and spawns decadence and sins of all sorts. Life is slower in Kenash, but the lack of pace is made up for in the excesses of food and flesh in a city where drinking, debauchery, gambling, slavery, and overbearing plantation families dominate the landscape.

Located on the East Bank of Kenash is what on the outside appears to be a smaller building of little consequence. While not being run down by any stretch of the imagination, it is certainly less than ornate. But despite its quaint appearance, the wealthiest citizens of Kenash have come to revere the man who makes his 'living' within those walls. Entering the building, one will find oneself in the main office. This includes a sizable desk with tailoring equipment behind it, and usually some mannequins holding newly finished articles of clothing, always in keeping with the current styles and always of the highest quality, of course. The desk is almost always unmanned, a small bell sitting on it. Upon ringing it, Zoroaster will appear to do business, rapidly taking measurements and asking intuitive questions to find just what it is you want- often leading to deciding on something you didn't know you wanted.

While the office and exterior are quaint and unpolished, the backroom is a downright mess, though none would ever see it- save for the occasional slave and Zoroaster himself. Fabrics of every size, color, and variety are strewn about in piles, waiting for the master tailor to make them into something grand. Zoroaster works all day, every day, taking full advantage of his traits as a Nuit in order to get as much done as he can. Even with so much skill and time, no one piece is done in haste. Zoroaster's custom garments are the stuff of legends, and he makes sure it stays that way by doing his pieces one at a time, and with great care. No detail is overlooked, and no cost is spared in the making of any single garment, and it shows. Zoroaster's is not known for producing great numbers of garments, nor for any 'everyday' wear. But for the biggest events, when only the very best will do, the Dynasties and the wealthiest Freeborn all know where to turn.

Additional Info: Zoroaster was born to slave parents on the Zulaca plantation, established but unremarkable field hands. He was raised to be a field hand for his first 12 years, but proved to have quite delicate hands and a knack for detailed work. Showcasing some of the characteristic Zulaca wisdom Carthrys is known for, he decided to have the boy trained to work with fabrics for one year, to determine if he ought to be kept on as a house slave or perhaps elevated to something more. It was an opportunity that even young Zoroaster was smart enough to not take lightly. Working night and day to grow his skills, young Zoroaster knew little of rest and much of failure. But as days turned to weeks and months, the failures lessened and his work began to show signs of being truly good. At the end of that year, his best works were presented to Carthrys, and it was decided that the boy would be trained.

For the next several years, Zoroaster was trained by tutors and by skilled artisans within the family. Working day and night to prove his value, he hoped to eventually be admitted into the ranks of the family. He proved to be a natural at the work, and quickly became acceptable as a good tailor, enough so that he was allowed to do basic work for the family. But that was not good enough for the young slave. He worked tirelessly for almost 20 more years, waking early, retiring late. His work gradually advanced from just 'good enough' to great, to incredible. By the time of his 35th birthday he had become a man that lived and breathed for two reasons: To ply his craft, and to bring honor to the Zulaca family. Carthrys recognized the devotion in the man, and appreciated his years of service and practice so much that he was offered a spot in the family, which was taken with much gratitude.

In the years from then until now, Zoroaster has not relented an iota in his rigorous discipline. To this day, those slaves and family members who demonstrate rigorous discipline are lovingly referred to as 'Zoroasters' by their siblings and overseers. Becoming a true master of working with the trademark colored cottons of the Zulaca plantation, as well as many fine cloths and fabrics from abroad, he was a natural choice when Carthrys fulfilled his long standing plans to open the foremost custom tailor shop of Kenash, a role he takes to gladly and skillfully.

Goods and Services
Zoroaster's is a custom garment tailor, meaning there really isn't a set list of specific goods offered. The clothing prices listed in the lore apply here. Simply pick and choose what kind of fabric(s) you'd like and what you want made, and it will be made. Expect each modified garment to take anywhere from 3-7+ days to craft, depending on extent of your description of the garment you desire, and number of customizations. For example, it wouldn't take long at all to create a simple white silk dress with no major customizations, but if you wanted a purple-dyed dress with lace, brocade, and you wanted it damasked, it might take a little while.

Unmodified garments can be expected to be finished the very next day, at the latest. Garments that are unfashionable, such as those made from linen or garments that are unsuited for the season's trends, will not be sold.
