[The Crown Reef] Help, Kelp and Coral (Baylin)

Coral manipulation was not done by magic as had been told by many an elderly charoda to their offspring over the ages. It was a beautiful skill, vital to their survival, that was unique to the great ocean dwelling race they belonged to. A gift from Laviku and Caiyha directly to each of them marking them as part of the circles of nature and the life of the water. True, it involved Djed like magic did but not in the same way. The Djed didn't move or do anything fancy, it simply gave what could be compared to an expectant if pointed look towards the Djed of the coral, hinting that maybe the coral should be doing something right now. The skill of the user, the temperment of the coral and it's health, along with the nature of the metaphoric look shared between the two sources of Djed all determined how far, how quickly and where the coral moved.

As was the nature of expectant looks; either the recipient was baying to your every beck and call or more likely they were awkwardly wandering if they were being told to do something, if so why couldn't the person have just ask them. Charodae had never bother to ask as they did not speak coral. Nobody spoke coral. As fas as it was known coral did not speak. This did not stop M'Wanii from cursing it out as her Djed aggressively hinted that it would feed the coral's grandmother to the sharks least it move it's hard prickly form swiftly out the vicinity of her hands. The coral obviously did not care for the safety of it's grand mother as it smugly stayed put.

Growling, M'Wanii flopped against the outside of the crown reef. It really was quite pretty here, a mix match of corals from all over the sea growing into a glorious reef that attracted fish and aquatic creatures from all over. At it centre stood a small unmaned charodae fort, it was free use to those passing through the area. Providing any tired underwater traveller protection for the night, the maintenance of the structure was left to whom ever was using it currently. With the coral constantly growing, it was no wonder that it had over grown. The gap provided was just large enough that M'Wanii would have possibly been able to squeeze through but with the two large sacks of fresh kelp for the Charbosi market; she would be no doubt looking for another place to stay least the bone like creature decided to shift in the next few chimes.

Trying once again, this time taking a less vicious approach, the coral respond slightly better shifting about a finger width in the wrong direction before refusing to move again. Well, she had got it to move, it was better than her normal attempts. The woman really had no talent at the craft, funny thing was it might have been a direct to her social skills as socializing tended to go just about as well as this. Beginning to feel the familiar ache in her arms from over using her race's gift, M'Wanii figured she was finding somewhere else to sleep. Accepting that fact dully, a reluctant kicks of her webbed feet sent her down to the huge sacks of fresh kelp resting on the sea floor.

Unfortunately small group of Blennys had already identified the sacks' contents as edible and had been furiously trying to break into the bag before she gently slapped them away. Frowning at the hole they had left, the charoda hauled the bag over one shoulder. They weren't light but overall it was their size that annoyed her the most, not their weight. Rolling her neck to get it comfortable before she grabbed the other sack, a shadow in the water up head caught her attention. It was too big to be one of the reefs normal visitors and sharks didn't normally look like that from a distance. What the bubbles was that?

[The Crown Reef] Help, Kelp and Coral (Baylin)

There were random moments in time in which family members ignored logic. For Baylin and his sister May'lin, now was one such time. He allowed her to latch herself onto his back like a starfish, wrapping her legs around his torso and her arms around his chest under his arms to avoid hindering his ability to swim. For the piggy back ride to work he made her wear his own backpack. Baylin didn't complain about the situation. He only warned her to not hurt herself on his trident which was also holstered and slung across his back.

He rode atop his trusted seahorse named Anyalsi, gripping the reins with both hands. He tugged at them lightly. In response the seahorses fins flapped with a graceful patience while huffing out bubbles of air from her snout to empty her gas bladder. They began to sink deeper into the water as they approached the reef. He pressed his feet down against the stirrup to keep himself from floating upward as they sunk.

"Enough." He spoke in perfect Char, his deep melodic voice humming through the water, commanding the horse to float idly within the ocean. To get her to move again he pushed his arms and body weight forward while giving the command. "Forward girl." Anyalsi's eyes focused ahead, slowly uncurling her tail to propel forward at a speed comparable to brisk walk. "May, you can find room to rest within the reef now. Whe..."

His sister had a random need to release her grip from him with one arm or leg to point out anything that caught her interest, and M'Wanii appeared to be one of them. In her excitement her forearm hit the side of his head when she point at the woman. "Look!"

Baylin rubbed his head impatiently, looking up a little to see someone carrying a bag down below. "Kelp rot." It was a term spoken out of annoyance which roughly compared to the humans use of 'Shyke'. Faintly, he reconsidered his decision on allowing her to cling to him. As he thought about this, the the horses pace decreased, now that they were fully at their destination, and stopped in front of her. To keep Anyalsi from pulling at the reins, he nudged the horse on the back of its neck with his webbed hand.

“You do realize that you are being attacked by Blennies? ” he said with a faint smile, lifting his hand at woman who's bag seemed to attract fish.
