[Training] The art of bows. (Torr)

Postby Markus Andres on October 13th, 2010, 6:21 pm

Fall 44th - 510 AV.

Markus K. Andres was making sure he had everything on him as he prepared to leave. He had a quiver with sufficient arrows. He had his bow, short bow, composite. Borrowed from the Knights for practice purposes. He was wearing his regular clothes, a black shirt, black trousers. He considered if he should ask for some leather armor, to reduce the risk of being slain by a random shot from some fool. He shrugged the feeling away, Knights usually didn't miss their targets and it was even rarer that he had seen them even be close to hitting a fellow knight by mistake. Markus checked his quiver to make sure he hadn't forgotten the arrows. He counted them quickly, 21 arrows. Weird number of arrows to be given. He shrugged.

He strapped the quiver to his back. Picked up the bow and walked out into the city. People gave him some room to move, considering he was armed with a bow and arrows. Not that they gave him a lot of space, just enough so he didn't brush against people constantly. If he was only wearing his plate armor or had his bastard sword strapped to his back instead of a quiver, then people would give him more space. But it was better than nothing, he supposed. He flashed his usual jovial smile as he walked and whistled lowly to himself. Markus loved to train.

He would be walking in his own thoughts as he walked in the crowd. It was quite obvious that he was going to train, if anyone paid any special attention to him.

[Training] The art of bows. (Torr)

Postby Torr on October 13th, 2010, 6:45 pm

"Goddamnit!" Torr cursed out loud , Trying to remember the directions one of the guards gave him. "Left then the second street right,.... But then what?"
Chief looked up towards his boss in confusion he really didn't get why he was so freaked out. Torr looked towards Chief with a defeated look in his eyes. " I guess you don't know it either eh buddy?" Chief continued to look towards his boss. "I guessed so." Suddenly Torr noticed a man walking through the crowd, From the way he was dressed and the long bow on his his back. It was quite obvious he knew where the Training grounds where.

Torr pushed himself through the Crowds trying to reach him. After a few seconds pushing and shoving other people out of the way he was close enough to the guy to be able to tap on his shoulder. Torr gave the man a hard slap on it to be sure he cougth his attention.
"Do you know where the training grounds are?" He said in a blunt manner.

Markus felt something touch his shoulder, figuring it was just an accidental brush, but then the touch continued into a slap, and Markus became aware that someone was trying to get his attention. Someone who didn't know not the slap random people on the street. He almost turned and slapped the guy back in the face, but somehow managed to keep a cool head on his shoulders. But he didn't look happy and then he turned to look at the guy.

He was too surprised by the mask to actively register what he was being asked. He stared at him for several seconds before shaking out of his trance-like state of mind. What had been the question? Oh yes. The training grounds.

"I do and you can just tag along with me, I am heading there myself."

Markus said and turned to walk again. Knowing that he was being rude, but so had the guy been when approaching Markus and his blunt tone of voice didn't cling well in the young Squire's ears.

Torr gritted his teeth when the man before him just stared at him for a few seconds before answering his question.Really was it that hard not to stare at his mask?

"I do and you can just tag along with me, I am heading there myself."

Torr nodded and called Chief to follow him, before walking after the man.

OOCYou can delete posts in the edit screen :) Right above the post, if I remember correctly.

Markus walked for half a chime or so, before he even thought of striking up a conversation. He turned his head to the masked man. Of course, he assumed he was a man from the voice. He could be wrong.

"My name is Markus, by the way. Are you new to the town, or just never been to the training grounds?" He asked. The man might have irritated Markus with his manners, but in those surroundings, with the crowd and such, he couldn't really hold a grudge because of something like that. Besides, Markus hating walking in complete silence with a stranger. It unnerved him, like that mask unnerved him.

"If you don't mind me asking, what are you going to train?" Markus asked, referring to any weapon or skill the man wanted to train.

[Training] The art of bows. (Torr)

Torr had been walking behind the stranger for almost an entire chime, contend in walking in silence, or at least as silent as you could have in the midle of a crowded street, it reminded him of the woods.

"My name is Markus, by the way. Are you new to the town, or just never been to the training grounds? and if you don't mind me asking, what are you going to train?"

Torr raised his eyebrow underneath his mask, not sure why the stranger ,Markus as he called himself, wanted to talk now but it couldn't hurt to answer his questions.
"My name is Torr," He pointed towards chief who was walking besides him."And that is my dog Chief. We are new to Syliras, only arived a few day's ago and I was searching for the training grounds to train with my crossbow, so that I don't shoot Chief instead of the deer I am aiming at. Speaking of the training grounds, how far is it?"

OOC: well the delete button wasn't there anymore so I just posted beneath it.

Markus almost turned to shake Torr's hand, but figured that would be a strange thing to do on the street. Even stranger since he would have to turn around to do it, he figured that it wasn't so important. Besides, that mask might be for health reasons. So he didn't infect people. But Markus supposed that the guards wouldn't have let him in if that had been the reason.

"Pleased to make your acquaintance Torr and Chief. The training place is just up those stairs over there." This was one of the entrances to the archery range. There were other training places in the city, some for other purposes. "Ah, the crossbow, lethal weapon." Markus noted. "So, you're a hunter, then?" Markus asked as he stepped into the archery range. Looking around for a couple of free targets he could be unloading his arrows on.

"The crossbow is a very good weapon way better in a lot of things then the common bow,its more accurate, more lethal and a lot easyer to learn. Especialy handy for hunters who need a lot of time training and caring for the dog, Like me." Torr said as he followed Markus on the range.
"So what is your occupation anyway. I gave mine so you should give yours."

[Training] The art of bows. (Torr)

Postby Markus Andres on October 17th, 2010, 1:56 am

Torr talked about the crossbow, saying it was more accurate, lethality was higher and easier to learn. All true. But it had the disadvantage of being a lot slower than the short bow.

"But the fire of rate, is lower than that of my short bow." Markus replied. Not wanting to turn it into an argument, but still wasn't satisfied with listening to him saying the crossbow was better than his short bow. He had put some pride in learning to wield the weapon. Once again, Torr talked in a way that made Markus cringe on the inside. Demanding to know his occupation, because he gave away his own.

"I am a squire in the Syliran Knights. Hopefully soon, I will become a knight." Markus said with a neutral tone of voice. He found a pair of free targets he and Torr could practice upon. Markus pulled an arrow out from his quiver. Looked at Torr before putting it on the string.

"So, what brought you to Syliras?" Markus said before pulling back the string, took a second or two to take aim. Already feeling his arm tire a little from that. He let go of the string. Saw the arrow fly off into the distance. Hit the target. Which gave him a great feeling in the guts. But then he realized that he had been outside the area Markus called "the real target" Within the area where a human would have been hit, should he have been aiming at a person. At the target was only some 40 yards away. He had heard rumors of people shooting arrows at least five times that length.

He took another arrow from his quiver - and repeated the action.
