"Mirrors & Tresses" is Kenash's only Boutique Hair Salon, owned by Ivan Sitai and operated as much as an experience or entertainment than as a business selling a product. After all, the product sold here is a little different to the usual fare and there is more emphasis on customer loyalty than in your average shop. "Mirrors and Tresses" does not have a large shop front to draw in the crowds - it doesn't need to. Rather, one may find it after stumbling along the street and arriving in front of an oddly shaped blue door to the side of a stone building. Once inside, whoever is on reception will take down your name with a smile and sign it into a pretty blue register. Usually, appointments have to be booked a dozen days in advance, but "Mirrors and Tresses" will always do their best to accommodate an impromptu customer as soon as is humanly possible. There are four large rooms - The Reception where payment is made, appointments are booked and hair products are sold, two rooms which each cater for two hairdressers and their clients and, finally, the Bar where companions, husbands and wives may wait for their spouse to finish with their hair, or where customers may wait for their appointment. The first drink is free but, afterwards, they are sold at competitive prices. These rooms are all decorated with incredible precision in order to convey the feelings that Ivan felt desirable to engender in his customers. Thus, the interior design feels modern but also quite relaxed and soft. As a child, he was wrapped up pretty much in cotton wool because his Mother - wrongly - believed him to suffer from haemophilia just as his brother did. Therefore, he was quite introverted and ready to amuse himself. It was when his technical niece, Adelaide, asked him to cut her hair (after he had just turned eleven) that he discovered his true calling. While his brother spent his teen years chasing after girls, Ivan started to cultivate his talent and, finally, opened his first Salon when he was eighteen, before moving up to his current, larger premises not long after he turned twenty-two. Ivan cuts hair, styles it and sends happy customers on their way with a boyish half-smile because if there's something he understands intrinsically, it's hair. For him, it's both an Art and a Science. Something creative through which he can express himself, but also something meticulous which has to be done exactly right. After a happy childhood, her parents engaged both her and her sister, Louisa, to a pair of brothers, with whom they wanted a trading alliance. Both sisters refused and left Syliras before their parents could react, taking only a small bag with. Eventually Alexandra arrived in Kenash with her Louisa just as Ivan closed his first salon and bought bigger premises. After a few days in which they were having trouble finding work, Alexandra accidentally bumped into Ivan. After they immediately got on together and he discovered her talent for design, he employed Alexandra to decorate, not realising that she was actually trained as a hairdresser. The decorating over and that detail revealed he then employed her and her sister, Louisa, to work at the Salon, which was growing in popularity. Although technically the older of the two sisters, she has always been quite submissive to her winsome younger sister - which someone who met her by herself might not believe. When being met on her own, Louisa is talkative, flirtatious, stubborn and good-humoured, but when with her sister, she tends to fade into the background. Indeed, the decision to run away to Kenash had been entirely Alexandra's, Louisa only following out of loyalty and adoration of her sister. Louisa has never resented the fact that she's always overlooked in favour of her sister and that her sister is technically more skilled in Cosmetology. The sisters are best friends and Louisa would do anything for Alexandra.
