Calendar: Fall, 514 AV
___________________

The arrival of the strange snakes didn't help the tension in the city whatsoever. In addition to rising strife between the existing groups and factions struggling to claim or reclaim territory in the city, there's now rumours of monsters circulating around the tunnels and items of significant power appearing in the public market. Conspiracy and violence abound aplenty, along with several new threats arriving to press upon the city from outside to compete with the locals for their turf and produce.

Enjoy your Fall in Sunberth!

NOTE: Here's the previous calendar for Summer. If you have completed all the seasonal goals for Summer, please send me (Twister) a PM with links to the relevant threads and a note of which threads completed which goals so I can look them over and see about awarding the Sunberth Seasonal Challenge medal.

Significant dates and events:
.
1st - Fall begins and most fresh fruit vanishes from the markets, ending up either dumped in Baroque Bay or found in barrels in obscure alleyways.

2nd - The Dust Bed is obscured in a thick mist. The mist seems to stay put in the Dust Bed and doesn't extend to the city, but it's impossible to see further than a foot in front of you due to the thickness.[*The mist doesn't vanish until a later date.]

7th - A few dozen men and women pull themselves out of the waters of the bay, some humans and some snakes. The Bay is quickly abandoned by the general populace, leaving the visitors hopelessly confused. See this announcement for the full details.

8th - A public bounty hits the streets; 100 GM for every live Dhani captured and brought to Tua's Establishment, courtesy of an anonymous contractor. [NotePlease contact Twister in a PM if you intend to collect the bounty in a thread and provide a link to the thread in question.]

10th - When a few escaped snakes escape the bonds of their captors and flee into the mists covering the Dust Bed, the stalemate between street gangs seem to spontaneously break. Street violence breaks out again.

15th - People living in the tunnels under the city start reporting relatives and family missing, some finding especially large but fresh bones scattered about the darker depths closer to the mines. Of course, this is blamed on the Dhani, lacking proof of any other possible explanation.

16th - The Daggerhands start going public, goons with their tattoos on display patrolling their old turf and ambushing the common folk crossing their path for forceful recruitment. Near the Baroque Bay, a smaller group of Daggerhand try a more jovial approach by advertising among the drunken sailors.

19th - A Dhani is discovered climbing out of Baroque Bay. He is promptly seized and can later be found brutalized and dead in a nearby alleyway, corpse vandalized in a variety of ways.

21st - Doctor Petricious keeps his clinic open to the public for free this day in the light of the recent increase in street violence. The same day, several people are spotted in the street with more scars than healthy skin, blood-soaked clothing and vacant looks on their faces, and several more are reported missing. Once again, the Dhani are blamed.

26th - The violence in the streets reaches such intense levels, the Castle Commons seem to become deserted and shops and stores all over the city seem to close. All PCs who don't have rations will need to find alternate ways to feed themselves until the stores re-open.

28th - As if to add insult to injury, a caravan with crops and harvest from the fields surrounding Sunberth doesn't make it there according to schedule.

32nd - When hungry citizens start suspecting foul play, they head out to search for the caravan. They find it a few miles outside the city, carts destroyed and abandoned on the side of the road. All produce seems to have vanished into thin air, along with the caravan itself.

39th - A family of farmers from the fields flee into the Tent City, reporting that their fields and property had been seized by bandits.

41st - Only a couple of days after the first family's arrival, a second one arrives to report the same thing. Rumours of the bandit raids outside of Sunberth start circulating inside the city.

42nd - Tall Johnny's Casino closes its doors swiftly and without explanation, throwing all patrons and customers into the streets and locking its doors. [Quest]

48th - Tall Johnny's Casino opens again after thorough investigations in the establishment.

52nd - Lucerne's Lodestar shines red towards the end of the night. It lasts for only a couple of bells before the light seems to revert back to normal. [Moderation NoteIf you have reason to investigate and happen to be at Lodestar Isle (since the ferry doesn't carry people to the island at night) at the time, contact Twister if you want to investigate.]

55th - The violence in the streets comes to a sudden halt as something unexpected happens. Strung up on the sealed front doors of the Temple of the Unknown is a corpse familiar to most of the city, yet it causes them to stop dead in their tracks. [Event - TBA]

56th - The Castle Commons seem to become active again as merchants start daring to open up their stores and stands. Food supplies are available once again.

61st - With the markets and stores open once again, strange items start showing up in circulation. There have never been more claims of magical artifacts for sale, and it puts the city population on its toes. In addition, several stores start selling trinkets made from Dhani bodyparts, fangs and scales. [Price NoteAnything using Dhani ingredients adds a x15 multiplier to the standard item in the Price List.], and [Artefact NoteMost artifacts and alleged "magical items" on the market are phoney, and simply very old items covered in seaweed that were lost in shipwrecks. Any awards of actual magical items might be awarded as a surprise in grades.]

69th - The mists recede from the Dust Bed, thinning out slowly until they are completely gone towards the evening.

70th - A flyer in the Pig's Foot tells of a mysterious contractor wanting to "deal" with the Dhani crisis, saying he is looking for more "diplomatic" approaches to unravel the secrets of Sunberth's past. [Quest]

71st - A slight tremor shakes Sunberth as an explosion sounds somewhere deep down in the tunnels. When residents underground run to investigate the source, they find the tunnels caved in.

76th - The previously sealed doors of the Temple of the Unknown mysteriously open themselves, much to the relief of many homeless vagrants who immediately take up residence in the main chamber.[*Further investigation is not possible at this time. Feel free to explore the first chamber, though all paths further into the temple are unavailable.]

80th - Several large ships make port in Sunberth's harbor, Svefra disembarging with their cargo and occupying the Simpering Seacow for one night. All other patrons are denied entry because the establishment is overrun with the seafarers.

83rd - Rumours start to circulate that the newly arrived Svefra are the worst of the lot. Pirates. Plunderers. Citizens tread carefully around Baroque Bay, where the Svefra are seemingly making themselves comfortable.

88th - The Svefra are openly confronted in broad daylight by mysterious horsemen. They reveal themselves to be raiders of the fields. Bandits. They warn the Svefra visitors to stay out of their way before departing back into the fields.

91st - Fall ends and the first few flakes of snow fall from the sky as Morwen departs her palace in Avanthal to bring her Winter to all of Mizahar; Sunberth included.
.
