This lazy agricultural settlement rests on the swampy shores of the Middle Suvan at the delta of The Kenash River. The River's slow moving bayou waters have bred a different sort of people - rugged, cultured, and somewhat violent. Sprawling plantations of tobacco and cotton grow on the outskirts of the swamp in the rich Cyphrus soils, while the city itself curls around the bayou and spawns decadence and sins of all sorts. Life is slower in Kenash, but the lack of pace is made up for in the excesses of food and flesh in a city where drinking, debauchery, gambling, slavery, and overbearing plantation families dominate the landscape.

An Oasis in the middle of the city of Kenash

Fountain Plaza used to be like any other square anywhere in Mizahar - an empty stone area crowned by the poorly designed and decrepit fountain it was named for. Evidently, the council of Kenash decided that it wasn't projecting the best image of the rich and luxurious city so they set about plans to re-boot the area, plans which got waylaid until 505AV. It was then that Sylvia Sitai, having seen her sons through to being adults and had her fair share of hosting parties, decided she wanted to do something for the city and put forward her plan to give the plaza a much needed makeover. After a couple of years, she was able to proceed with the refurbishment of Fountain Plaza and, finally, in 508AV, Fountain Plaza was ready to open with a brand new look.

Now, Fountain Plaza is almost entirely taken up by what can only be described as an Oasis in the middle of the city of Kenash, built close to the mortal solace and the Carnival of the Dead, rimmed by white stone paths for those who are merely passing by, using the Plaza to reach other areas of the city. There is a large, shallow pool with mosaic flooring filled with a cool, clear water rippling gently between especially planted palm trees and stone sculptures. (Hygienically-minded) visitors are invited to take off their shoes and paddle around, taking in the statues, buying from the peddlers with licenses to frequent the plaza or perhaps ordering a drink at the Fountain Plaza open air Café, before sitting down on one of the plush ivory seats which stand proudly in the pool itself. Due to a good understanding of the heat of Kenash, each seat is protected by a large, square parasol built in a way to be as unnoticeable as possible to those sitting and something very modern for those observing.

At night, the pool is filled with floating tea lights and the Plaza becomes fee-paying. Music fills the air and dancers come out to entertain patrons while they sit around with their cocktails, talking into each other and embracing some leisure time spent with friends in the comfortably warm night air. The most well-known of these dancers is the husband-and-wife ballroom dancing team, Philip and Winona Santorini, who are always happy to perform crowd-pleasing tricks and involve their audience with their performance. The dancers obviously have to work within the water and this has engendered a complete dancing technique in order to manage and use the water well with their performances, to create interesting shapes, not splash the customers and not get themselves wetter than necessary to their show. Most dancers work solo or in pairs dotted around the plaza and performing their own routines, in styles ranging from ballet to the more acrobatic and ballroom styles, but it is not unknown to catch a group performance.

These dancers are effectively buskers, paid very little by Sylvia herself (who uses them to draw crowds) and relying on tips by customers, who often like to prove their wealth and graciousness by throwing a bone (or a coin) to the struggling performers.

Cocktails and other refreshments have to be bought from the open-air bar towards the side of the Plaza and taken back to seats.

NPCs
ImageName: Sylvia Sitai
Race: Human
DoB: 11th Winter 540AV
PoB: Kenash
Title: Dynast, owner of Fountain Plaza's Café and manager of Fountain Plaza's entertainment options.
Skills: Food Preservation (43) Massage (31) Storytelling (51) Floristry (28) Gardening (26)
Gnosis: None
Additional Info: Sylvia Sitai is the energetic and open-minded instigator of all that happens at Fountain Square, and the woman who indirectly controls it all. She is of a sharp, but not disagreeable, nature and it is not rare to see her laughing (or even flirting) with a customer or buying a round of drinks. Not that she can't afford to - it was under her mantle that Fountain Plaza started generating money and became a watering hole, quite literally, for the great and good of Kenash.

ImageName: Peter Santorini
Race: Human
DoB: 13th Winter 584AV
PoB: Nyka
Title: Performer
Skills: Dancing (68) Busking (41) Juggling (21) Acrobatics (28) Running (26)
Gnosis: None
Additional Info: Peter Santorini comes from a long line of dancers, and from a long line of effeminate chauvinists. Although he can easily put on a charming face when he wants to and is very good at getting along with people, he has been known to break out into rants over women with ideas who read, who act like men or who think themselves equal to men. The odd thing, though, is how much better he gets along with most women than with most men and that he should be married to someone like Winona, who is fiercely independent and unwilling to stand for any 'nonsense'. The two are like chalk and cheese, but Peter is as devoted to his wife as she is to him and, over the course of their three year marriage, he has softened considerably in his opinions... which mostly proves how hugely strong they were before.

ImageName: Winona Santorini
Race: Human
DoB: 81st Summer 594AV
PoB: Nyka
Title: Performer
Skills: Dancing (50) Massage (24) Juggling (33) Seduction (29) Persuasion (36)
Gnosis: None
Additional Info: Winona is a brash and self-assured young woman who dances because she's technically skilled rather than because she has any great feeling for the Art. She's logical and straight-forward, which makes it very odd that she should be married to someone like Peter, her complete opposite, a man who stands for everything she's supposed to hate. Still, they get on very well and even when, at times, their relationship becomes open, they've stuck by each other.
