2nd, Fall 514 AV
It was a morning like any other. Warm and beautiful in Kenash. Syna's rays had just begun to fully stretch over the city. Shining through the windows of homes, rousing those who slept inside. Though this wasn't the case for Carin Rander. His brown hair combed to the front, laying down neatly. He pulled on a pair of his boots and stood up. Stretching his arms and yawning. "What a beautiful day" he said with a smile on his face as he turned. Grabbing his traps and a small pocket full of dried apples he used for bait. He sat off, his knife and Kurki at his waist. He headed into the woodland that lay outside the city.
The life of a trapper was pretty routine. Wake up, check your traps, catch anything bring it back and eat it or sell it. Then set your traps again and repeat. It was something that Carin had grown used to. Traveling out with his father into the woods, to help bait and set traps. He got his fingers snapped and caught in them to many times for him to really count. Tiny scars could be seen from where the loaded spring door had taken skin and even cut into him. His mother would always worry when it happened, often saying that he wasn't cut out to be a trapper. But the next morning he would be up and ready to go again.
The crack of leaves and branches echoed as he moved through the swamp land. His boots padding in mud and muck that he had grown up in. "I swear if I don't marry a sensible woman, she'll kill me for tracking mud everywhere" he laughed. He smiled as he found one of his favorite trapping spots, two fallen trees. One had come to rest upon the other making it east for him to hide his trap. He sat both of them down, pushing one till its back end was under the log and began setting it.
Pulling open the gate with both his hands. His fingers slipped and it slammed shut with an echoing snap. "Petch" he cried out pulling his fingers back. "Sometimes I feel like tossing these things and getting a new life" he mumbled under his breath as he tried again. This time the gate locked into place and he pulled a piece of the dried apple out of his pocket. "Bless me with something good today Caiyha" he said giving he apple a kiss as he slid it into place inside. He grabbed loose leaves and branches and began covering the trap. Hiding it and masking what sent it may have, leaving the front open for anything that may wander inside. He got up and headed off, not to far from his previously laid trap and went to work in laying the other.
