What Song Best Represents Your Character?

We had an interesting discussion late one night last week about songs and how they impacted our characters. Different songs inspired different things in us. I had songs that inspired my characters, their backgrounds, and some of the scenes in their lives. But since I'm posting this as Gossamer and not as one of my PCs, I'll share this song since I played it almost non-stop while we were deciding to create Mizahar and launch it. Oh that was about four months solid. I felt like I could breath again and it decidedly gave me courage. It never steered me wrong.

And here is my inspiration for Nya. Sure, shes a Talderian Forest Cat, not a Wolf, but I wanted the impact to be similar.

Every time I listen to this song I think of Sitkanis. It explains him perfectly. It talks about going back to where one used to live and not remembering anything and no one remembers you. Also the part where they are taking about where the person used to live reminds me a lot of Endrykas. I always listen to this song when Sitka is trying to remember his past life. I think it is a really good fit for a former Drykas, current Ethaefal

This song reminds me a lot of Sitkanis also. It is about pondering life after death and wondering where one truly goes after they die. It is also a lot about doubting one's personal god and Sitkanis (although he believes in Leth) has somewhat left the worship of Leth because he finds him careless. Just listen to the song. It can explain it better than I can XD

Everything about this song reminds me of Kita. The song is so somber and bittersweet. It is all about getting driven away from your home and your family. Through all of it the singer is still searching for a home and love. I listen to this when I am writing for Kita all the time. If you have seen Cold Mountain you will know it.

Malia has so many different aspects that it's difficult to pick a single song and label her that. I've already heard so many songs while posting with her and was surprised how much they depicted what was going on in her mind. I'll post the two songs that come to my mind immediately though. Both describe her pretty well, in terms of lyrics and melody.

Aselia has always been pretty easy, and the song that I determined as her theme song still suits her perfectly. She is the type of person who likes mysterious melodies and crystal-clear, high voices - and I imagine that she can sing in a similar fashion herself!

This song caught the essence of Callisto very well. Heartbroken, lovesick, Dido. <3

Looking at Eris's state of mind from a more optimistic point of view, Until the End by Breaking Benjamin fits her quite well.

From a pessimistic view of her condition, What I've Done by Linkin Park might be a better fit. I usually listen to it when I'm writing her in one of her "regretting the past and wishing to change" moods.

For the konti, it all began with a song. It was the song of Avalis which warned Laviku of the coming cataclysm, and made the God of Sea fall in love with her. Glav once told Kamalia that the Seer Goddess' song could make even Rhaus himself weep. So I do believe with all my heart that the konti prayers to Avalis are often sung.

Needless to say, being somewhat of a songstress, Kamalia's life is filled with music and her character was shaped by it. So many songs had inspired me to write Kammy, but I'll pick the ones which I think describe her best.

Leliana's Song is ethereal and delicate.

It almost sounds like Kontinese to me. This song is something she would probably sing in a konti funeral. It brims with powerful emotions. The lyrics hint of acceptance as seers were likely taught to accept things as they come. They would grieve for a while, but they probably accept death and change quicker than humans do because of their Sight. In waking sleep is freedom. The ethereal song and the harp-playing make it definitely Kammy.

The second song, May It Be, absolutely describes Kamalia's life. The darkness, her exile, the single star, her perseverance, the harp, a promise and her tragic solitude. If she would ever sing this, it will be probably be sung in Common (English).
