Throwing her pack back over her shoulder, Firenze weaved her way through the trees. She'd been out in the forest for quite a few bells without any luck. Trying to get away from a particularly unruly bush that had snagged her cloak, she grabbed the bush with one hand and her cloak with the other and pulled as hard as she could. Trying to become disentangled from the gnarly branches that had quite the hold on the cloth, almost as if it was holding on to her trying take itself with her. The bush shook violently as she pulled, some of the deadening leaves flying off of it and the berries shooting off in all direction and bouncing to the ground.

"Let go you petching bush!" Firenze screamed at it, even though it couldn't respond or even that it knew she was cursing it, she felt better screaming at it. "You can not come with me!" Shake, shake, shake... riiiiiiiiip! The bush finally let it's hold go and Fire went flying to the ground, landing with a hard "Ooomph!" Her pack had landed underneath her, arms flung out and leaves tangled themselves into her hair. Growling, she looked over her spread out body at the bush, glaring at it as if it knew that she was angry at it for her falling on her rump.

The bush just sat there, like nothing happened, happy and content with the sun resting on it's leaves, oblivious to the angered Kelvic shooting daggers at it with her eyes. "This has got to be the worst day ever!" She screamed, throwing herself back onto the ground, staring up at the blue sky that peeked between the branches of the trees. Fat little tears rolled down the sides of her face, wetting the ratted hair surrounding her head. Gods. Why do you hate me so?

All she wanted was a little luck, but even the forest seemed to be against her. Pools of tears welled up in her eyes and flowed in miniature rivers over the side of her face as she laid on the floor of the forrest and gave in to a moment of self pity.

After a few chimes, sighing heavily, and trying to control the onslaught of emotion that over came her from the tussle with the bush, she got to her feet and dusted her cloak and pants off. She set about picking the leaves out of her hair and the few that had stuck to the back of her cloak.

A few more deep breaths and she finally started to feel a little better. She grabbed the bush one last time and shook it hard, almost in a way to say that she got the last hit in.

Stepping over fallen moss and fungus covered tree, Fire made her way toward a grove of bushes. She hoped this would be the spot that she would be able to lie in wait and catch...something, anything. She'd be happy if she could bring back at least one animal.

Pulling her pack off of her shoulder, leaning it against a tree, she'd decided that she should start bringing her things with her, lest they end up getting stolen. She'd already had a run in with someone finding them before, and the God's had blessed her with the man not stealing them. So, she resided in stuffing her things into her bag and carrying it around with her and just changing when she'd picked out a spot to hunt.

Opening the top of the bag, she stripped her boots off and stuffed them inside. Wiggling her toes on the ground, enjoying the feeling of the dirt and leaves. She unclasped her cloak and tossed it on top of her boots and slipped her shirt over her head, it following suit of the cloak. Pants and then undergarments were thrown in shortly after. Fiddling with her necklace, she stood bare naked, the breeze tickling her and wrapping around her body.

She popped the locket open and gazed down at the pictures, studying it for another countless time. The black bear's eyes gazed at her and she wondered why there was a picture of a bear. She wasn't particularly fond of bears considering the run in that she'd had with one before. Her fingers subconsciously going to the healing scratches on her side while she looked at the picture. Whenever she had felt lonely though, she'd open her locket and gaze at it for hours, wondering if the pictures were someone that she might know. Fire always suspected that the tiger cub in the picture was her, but she hoped the bear on the other side might be her family.

Snapping the locket back shut, she pulled it over her head, it caught on a leaf in her hair, coming with the necklace. She plucked the leaf, sighed, and threw it to the ground, it's existence reminding her of the earlier incident. Pushing her clothing to the side in the pack, she dropped the locket into her boot and secured the pack. She grabbed the bag and threw it back over her shoulder, scanning the area that she might be able to temporarily stash it.

The sun beat down on her skin, trying to warm it while the wind whipped between the trees reminding her of winter's close presence. She spotted a small alcove in the roots of one of the trees nearby, tossing her bag in she grabbed some leaves and covered it, trying to camouflage it to keep any animals from seeing it and spooking.

A large orange flash, black sparks flying, the light expanded and then came together as Firenze changed into her long sleek tiger form. Tail flicking back and forth, she scanned the area. Sniffing a little she tried to see if she could catch the scent of any nearby animals. She moved to a few bushes a few ticks away, sniffing around she caught the scent of rabbits.

Her mouth began watering at the idea of having rabbits for the evening meal. Sticking her nose in some leaves under the bush, she pushed them around, her nostril trying to trail the scent of the rabbits. Eyes darting about she noticed there were some drops that had been left behind. Wondering if she might be able to follow those, she moved along the bush. Her body slinking slowly, one heavy paw at a time, crunching leaves as she laid it down moving as slow as a winter creek. She surveyed the area trying to find any more of the droppings.

She lost the trail for a moment once she got towards the middle of the large bush. Eyes scanning the ground for more, she spotted some at the far edge of the bush. She couldn't tell how long it had been there or if the animal was even still around, but she was glad that she'd found them because then it had meant that the animal had been there at some point. Fire tried to figure out how she would be able to find the rabbit again as she looked around the forest floor, looking for any more evidence of the rabbit.

Sauntering around a little bit, trying to make circles around the bush, she kept her eyes on the ground. Searching for anything that would give her a clue as to where the animal might have gone. There were a few random holes in the ground, but they didn't look large enough to fit a rabbit, maybe more of a snake or a mole.

As she circled the bush, her radius becoming larger by the chime, she was now walking along the edges of the trees that were near the fat hedge. Firenze stopped in her track as she spotted something along one of the roots of the trees. The root was protruding out of the ground, it's gnarly features twisted as a thick root that popped out near the base of the tree and then snaked back into the dirt.

Sniffing near the root, she noticed that there was indeed a hole that was large enough to fit a fat little rabbit in it. Fire trying moving as quietly as she could to the other side of the root, hoping that it would hide her well enough, she crouched down behind it. Lying her body as close to the ground as she could, her eyes barely peeking up over the top, so that she could watch the hole.

She wasn't sure if this was going to work, or if she was even really hiding that well, but she hoped that there in the hole near the root, might be her dinner.

Yawning, her large pink tongue stretched past the canines on the bottom of her mouth, her upper lip scrunching around her nose. Firenze tried to keep her eyes on the hole that she had been watching for almost a bell now. Nothing had come. Nothing had gone. She began to wonder if there was anything left inhabiting the hole, worrying if she was wasting her time. Setting her bottom jaw on the root, she tried keeping her eyes trained on the spot.

Quite a few more chimes passed and Fire's eyelids started to become heavy. Fighting sleep, whenever they started to close on her she'd popped them back open again. Eventually sleep won the battle and her lids completely closed.

She didn't know how long she'd fallen asleep, her eye snapped open and she looked around, checking to see if anything had come back to the hole. She didn't see anything, but she wondered what had woke her. Her head kind of foggy, she felt as though she'd woken from a deep sleep.

crunch... crunch

YES! Trying to keep as still as possible, only moving her eyes she looked around quickly trying to see where the noise had come from. Ears perked up, they tipped back and forth scanning the area around her, trying to see if she could pinpoint where the sound was.

snap... crunch

Her ears flew forward, her eyes following suit, she thought she'd heard the noises coming from the other side of the tree. Excitement started getting the better of her and she raised her rear in the air a little bit. Energy shooting to her hind legs as she prepared herself to pounce on whatever was coming around the tree. She took deep breaths in and out, trying to keep her breathing quiet so the animal wouldn't hear her.

She saw a flash of fur pop from around the edge of the bark that was sticking of the side of the tree. Come heeeere dinner! She heard the crunching of the leaves a few more times and then she finally saw some ears peep around the corner. It hadn't spotted her yet, but she could tell by the ears that it was definitely a rabbit!

Excited that it had finally arrived, Fire shot forward. Her legs releasing like a tightly wound spring. She jumped for the rabbit, but missed as her shoulder clipped the tree. The rabbit fully aware that she was there, panicked and took off as fast as it's little legs could carry it. Ignoring the soreness in her shoulder, Fire bounded after it.

Rounding the tree she watched the little white tail bobbing up and down as the rabbit took off. Her large paws slapping the ground, she kicked up leaves. Breathing heavy, trying to inhale air to compensate for the amount that her muscles were crying out as they started to burn. Her legs stretched out behind her and jumped back under her body rapidly, pushing her large frame forward. Her tail swished quickly trying to keep her balanced as she bounded back and forth around trees and bushes trying to keep the rabbit in sight.

Her lungs began to protest profusely as she continued the quickened pace and she knew that she would have to slow down soon. Frustrated that she might lose her catch she decided that she had a choice, either stay on the rabbit and possibly lose it or try to determine which way that it might go and cut it off. The latter was chancy and it may not work, but she figured that either way, if she missed the rabbit by cutting it off, that she would lose her dinner.

Making up her mind Fire stopped abruptly and cut to the left sharply darting behind a bush, her muscles screamed at the sudden change in direction and she growled low trying to release some of the pressure through vocals. She'd have to deal with it after she stopped the chase, she tried to push it to the side so that she wouldn't lose focus.

Firenze prayed to the Gods that she'd made the right choice as she rounded the almost bare bush, it's ragged branches running along her side as she tried to keep as close to it as possible. She came around to face where she thought the rabbit's path would have gone.

Just as she turned, she saw the flash of fur, she had only a tick to thank the Gods before she snapped at it with her jaws. The snap resounded in her head as her jaws came together. After she'd thanked the Gods for having the rabbit come her way, she'd found that they'd didn't fully come to her rescue as her mouth closed on empty air as the small animal darted past her bite and underneath her.

Her head and eyes following it as it's path went directly under her body. It zoomed past her tail and Firenze tried to jump around quickly. Her body not wanting to respond after the exertion from the quick run she'd done, it protested with pain in her muscles as they started to tighten from being still too long. A particularly angry muscle decided to seize and cramp in her hind leg and Firenze decided that it must be the rabbits lucky day as she gave into taking a rest instead of chasing it.

She laid down where she was, next to the bare bush, lying her length along the hard leaf covered ground. Placing her head on her paws she huffed and watched the birds activity above her in the tree branches as she tried to regain her breath and bring her furiously beating heart to a more normal level. This is going to be a long day.
