The River Flower

Image

In the city of Endrykas, at least one tent is well known to almost everyone who's entered the city. That is the River Flower. Large, white, and painted with swirling sigils of Rak'keli, the River Flower tent acts as a sort of hospital for anyone injured to wander into their grasp. Mainly operated by the various Ankals of the Opal Clan, the River Flower is also one of the busier tents in the moving city. Injuries on the Sea of Grass are common, and there is no small amount of herbalists, doctors, and healers to see to anything from a child's banged up knee to a broken limb.

The large tent can hold a little over a hundred people inside, though it isn't uncommon to see people standing outside and being treated, especially in the heat of summer. The tent itself stands out with the bright, off-white canvas used and the colorful, swirling sigils of Rak'keli adorning the outside and inside alike. Multicolored flags hang from the edges of the tent, flapping in the wind and making the location even more obvious than it already was. The tent usually stands near the center of Endrykas. The flaps acting as the doorways are most often closed to keep out insects and the wind, and the entire floor is covered with the same white canvas as the tent itself. Folding wooden chairs are scattered throughout the tent, as are plain, grass-filled mattresses covered in white linen and propped up on wooden stands for the patients that require more than a chair.

Large, organized chests are filled to the brim with medical supplies traded from Kenash and Riverfall, or made by the Drykas themselves, and a wide variety of herbs are available for everything from cleaning wounds, preventing infections, and curing stomach aches. The one treatment that is never offered is abortion or birth control. All healthcare is free for a Drykas or anyone who is in severe enough danger, though it is common courtesy to bring gifts for the healers.
