Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

It was rather early in the morning. Syna had just barely rose into the sky and shone her light down on the Sanctuary. The new project had begun today. Lumbers and other materials had been laid out around the grounds. Adrien was out at work, enjoying the warm weather that Syna had brought with her rise. He wore a light blue tunic that Kavala had bought for him in the market. His muscled frame being hugged tightly by the tunic as he moved. He was looking over the plans that had been drawn out. The frame work had already been put together for the most part. Four corners made out already. They would need to go across and make the actual walls and provide support for them. The last thing they needed was for the building to cave in when they were working on a project.
He need to take into account the vent for the forge itself. A way for the heat to escape and not be trapped inside. He chewed on his tongue as he looked at the skeleton of the structure. Others were moving around and had begun to measure things out. Adrien went to join them, helping them lift one of the longer planks and laid it on the ground. Sliding it between the corners that hand been made. He grabbed one of the hammers and a couple of nails and began to work it into place. Nailing it into the standing lumbers. Once the nails were in place he stood up. Hammer in his hand, he turned back to the planks. Humming as he did so.
Syna's rays warmed the mans exposed skin. The sky was clear and blue. He shielded his eyes to look up at the Goddess. "Praise be to Syna for this beautiful day" he said as his eyes scanned the workers. He was curious to why he could not see Kavala. He figured that she would be here to at least watch the men work. Oversee everything and made sure no one busted anything with a hammer or cut off someones finger with a saw. He smiled as she remembered her healing hand on his cheek when they met in the market. A bright red blush over taking his cheeks as he remembered the kiss on his cheek. He was a grown man, at least body wise, that had never received his first kiss. He chewed on the inside of his mouth. He sighed and went back to work. Helping others saw some planks down to size.

Kavala wasn’t home supervising because she had to take a quick trip into town, taking the wagon and the two seme mares with her. Word had come from the port that a very special ship had docked, one that carried an emissary from The Southern Boarder Post and a junior Anvil that she had arranged a meeting with. A full two seasons ago Kavala had sent a letter to Emaneaus along with a promised token he could read or not for whenever he was ready. It was the story of him and his bonded mount, the lives they had lived before, and what had transpired between them. They had traveled the world nearly four lives, or as far back as Kavala was willing to go. In the journal she’d documented their adventures together and what they had meant to each other. Her only request in exchange was that he send her a full set of magecrafting items a full magecrafter would need to set up a new lab. She’d also included the coin, some thirteen hundred gold rimmed mizas, to pay for the cost of the materials if he were inclined to see to her favor.
She wasn’t sure if Emaneaus had read the journal or not, but at least it was in his possession if there ever came a time where he wanted to know. And shortly after it was due to arrive, a message had been sent back, stating the Anvil’s gratitude for her work and that the items she’d requested were being sent.
And the timing, even if Kavala thought so herself, could not have been better. They’d just broke ground on a forge, one that would conceal the entrance to a magecrafting lab, and running to town to take delivery of the magecrafting goods was a welcome distraction. The trip didn’t come without more fruit than just a huge set of crates containing her items though. The trip came with a blacksmith. Departing from the ship with the Anvil, Asdar Brightlin was a Svefra turned landlover who had apprenticed at the Southern Boarder Post where he’d trained under some of the best. Young, just starting out in his career, he’d been looking for a more permanent spot when Emaneaus had told him about Kavala, which for Asdar solved more than one problem. He had a young daughter, with no mother, who had turned out to be Kelvic. Left on the doorstep of his Master’s forge with a chip on her shoulder the size of Mt. Skyinarta, the six year old was motherless and needed Asdar. The mother hadn’t been seen since and Asdar’s Master had said he could not keep the child and retain his apprenticeship. Well, having learned enough to move on to a more permanent position, he’d found out a junior Anvil was traveling to Riverfall to deliver some things to a Kelvic healer who was just opening a forge that would double as a magecrafting lab.
Asdar had taken a chance, packed up his daughter, his tools, and headed towards The Sanctuary in the company of the Anvil with letters of recommendation and high hopes. Kavala had accepted him immediately both because of his daughter rand because they needed his skillset. And so after loading the things into her wagon, Asdar, the girl named Megan, and the Konti Healer headed back towards The Sanctuary.
They pulled up about half a bell later.
She spotted Adrien right away, hopped off the wagon, and grinned at him. “Sorry I had to leave for town to pick up some things that just came from the port. I even managed to pick up a blacksmith and his daughter.” Kavala said excitedly. Asdar jumped down off the wagon, helped Megan down, and reached out to take Adrien’s hand and shake it.
“I’m Asdar. This is my daughter Megan.” He said, gesturing back at the wagon after a moment. “I’ve brought all my tools as well. I heard you were both building a forge and would need a blacksmith to man it.” He said, as if to explain why the rest of the wagon was full besides the crates Kavala knew were coming.
The girl, Megan, released her father’s hand and began prowling around the courtyard. She looked cautious, a little feral, and had long sandy blonde hair that tangled about her unkept. Kavala longed to braid the girls hair, give her a bath, and reassure her things would be okay.
“I’m going to show them to their quarters. I think I’ll give them the room across from yours. Then I’ll be back to help.” Kavala said, giving Adrien a hug and heading off with Asdar in tow, his arms full of luggage. Meanwhile Aweston showed up, began sorting out the things in the wagon, and drove it out into the arena once Asdar’s tools were left out, over to where they could unload by the tunnel doors. Then, he and a couple of the workers unloaded the crates, storing them deep within the Within. Then Aweston took the wagon, turned it around, and brought it back to its parking spot, unhooked the seme’s and released them into their pasture after unharnessing them.
But the time Aweston was done, Kavala was back. She was inspecting what had been done so far and then looking over the plans. Asdar was with her. He noted what she hand planned, nodded his approval, and then glanced over at the Kelvic. “Well, I assume your making this structure of Reimancy. So what they are doing is building the foundations right? Framing it up, plus the patio where we’ll be shoeing horses, and then she’s reimancing the rest?” Kavala nodded, then gestured.
“So all we are really doing here is raising walls. These workers are clearing out the stone, and staking out where we will frame them. They’ll build the walls up and roof it without worry so I can stone it later. But what I need to do is create the forge itself, brick by brick, and I want to design that to your specifics. So maybe you and Adrien can get together and decide?” Kavala said, pausing to talk to one of the hired help and give them some answers to tsome of the questions they had.
Asdar turned to Adrien. “What do you say? Wanna design the actual forge? The Konti will make us what we ask for.” He reiterated and made a beckoning gesture, walking towards what would be the inside of the building, glancing back over his shoulder as if waiting for Adrien to catch up and add in his thoughts.
Kavala smiled. Taking on extra help was always a good idea, especially if they were young and motivated to make a place for themselves.

Adrien sighed and stretched as the workers were working on one of the walls. His head turned as the wagon pulled off, a bright smile painted on his face when He saw Kavala. He walked towards the wagon when his eyes landed on the blond man next to her. He shook his head and turned back to face Kavala. "Don't worry about it, everything has been going fine. We're just working on the walls right now while others clear the space." he said scratching the back of his neck. He took Asdar's hand and gave it a firm shake. Nodding his head at the introductions, "I am Adrien, and you heard correct. It's all her master plan." he said pointing a finger at Kavala.
He watch the girl walk off, his eyes watched as she searched around. Checking the place as he did when he was released from the tour. He turned to look at Kavala, suggesting he knew what she was when he looked at her. His smile smaller then before. He nodded his head and walked back to the construction. He picked his hammer up off of the ground where he dropped it and went back to working on the frame work. Sawing and hammering what needed to be worked on. His gaze turning back towards the Withins tunnels every few chimes.
When she returned Adrien looked at Asdar, studying him as the smith talked to Kavala. He slid the hammer into his belt once the two came over. He didn't speak, letting Kavala do the talking while he stood there, his eyes turning from them to the construction. He turned back when Asdar spoke to him. "I am here to build whatever she needs to be built" he said simply. A displeased look on his face for a tick when Asdar referred to Kavala as the Konti. He shook his head and took a couple of steps to catch up with the man. "I have not made a forge. Just tell me what to do and I shall do it" he shrugged, Adrien's entire construction back ground was small projects that he helped his dad with from time to time around the city.
"Your daughter is a Kelvic right? Is she actually yours?" he said looking at the mans face to try and determine if he would try to lie or not. "Not meaning to be rude but I have heard of people adopting Kelvics just don't see it often. Do you know what she is? Animal that is." he asked. He was really curious to see if she was a hunter or one that would be hunted. Like humans many Kelvics needed to be approached in a different way. Cadra you could walk right up to and speak to, but with Larik you had to talk time. To sit in silence beside him and watch over the heards.
He looked over his shoulder at Kavala then turned his attention to the extra workers. His thumb tapped on the head of his hammer as he chewed on his cheek. He felt off in a way that was not familiar to him. He felt challenged by the smith coming in, riding in with Kavala as he once had. He shook his head knowing that it was a stupid feeling and there was no reason for it but it was one he could not shake.
The man would be in the room across from him and the last thing the rhino wanted was an awkwardness with someone that would be living so close. He also did not want to disappoint Kavala for a childish feeling that he knew he should not be worried about. He cracked his neck and looked up at Asdar. "So where should we begin?" he asked.
