59th Fall, 510 A.V.
Errands completed, Jischa checked a deeply creased note before entering the Golden Dragon Inn with a mischievous smile. This wasn't the place she'd been recommended to, that was the White Swan. But she'd heard enough interesting words about this place that she'd decided on a change of plans, making her way here after asking directions of a passing Knight.
Heading to the front desk with admiring glances at the lavish decoration within the inn, she mentally ran through a checklist of things to finish before hopefully passing out for a day or so of much-needed sleep. First, and perhaps most obviously, procure a room for the night. Then she'd ask if her packages had arrived yet, she'd sent someone over with her backpack earlier, and a parcel of clothing was expected to be delivered this evening from An Elegant Weave, both items to await she, Jischa Va'el.
Arriving at the desk, she glanced around once more, spotting several of the Golden Dragon's employees. The enchanting costumes made her feel decidedly over-dressed, or at least over-covered, so she removed her cloak, folding it over one arm and patiently awaiting her turn to be seen to. |

Nehsmay silently made her way back into Syliras through the main gates... her friends had remained behind in the forest, but she wished to glance once more at the curious city bustling with life even though in her opinion it was far less beautiful than her home town Avanthal. There the icy stones glittered in the frozen sun and the snow fell in waves everywhere around you creating a beautiful white blanket. Here everything was gray and dusty, the walls looked as if they would fall upon you and smother you to death. The Vantha sighed and walked randomly around not knowing one inch of the city apart from the stables.
Suddenly she stopped in front of a sign that read "The Golden Dragon". The Inn was expertly decorated in a beautiful, but a tad pompous style, but it tugged at Nehsmay's artistic side and made her want to enter the inn and see the interior as well. Her stomach grumbled as well so she decided it wouldn't hurt to procure some food as well while she was inside. She pushed the door open and stepped inside smiling at the rich ornaments and revealing outfits. Her mother would have thrown a fit had she known where her daughter was. Taking off her crimson cloak, Nehsmay headed towards the desk wishing to ask for a table. |

It wasn't a long wait, the person on-duty at the desk quite efficient and friendly. Her packages had arrived without any fuss, and transfered into the room that they'd taken the liberty of preparing for her arrival. Handing over three gold mizas to cover her stay for the next three nights, Jischa had been pleasantly surprised by the graciousness of the inn's employees, a glass of wine offered almost immediately as she'd turned to take a seat in one of the cozy little private areas.
Drink in hand, instead of moving away, she'd curiously watched the latest arrival head toward the desk, in her direction, shedding her crimson cloak. Offering a faint nod in greeting, she'd been pleased to note the cold & somewhat distant gaze of the shorter girl. Most everyone in Syliras so far had seemed so..blandly cordial. |

Nehsmay talked animatedly with the desk clerk asking for a table where she could eat in silence. The woman on duty smiled and led her towards a two person table in the corner where the vantha would have to wait for someone to take her order.
While waiting she glanced around at the people who came and went. She noticed a Konti woman in the Inn; she recognized her race having see a couple in Avanthal while they stopped for rest while in pursuit of the Calling. Nehsmay didn't know what the calling meant and entitled, but she knew that's what they said when they left their home town.
She paused her musings when a waitress came and asked for her order. She glanced at the menu and chose something to eat and drink, then lounged back in her seat. |

Her greeting having gone unnoticed, or perhaps even ignored, by the red-eyed stranger, Jischa resumed scanning the inn, noting with pleasure that there was no lack of interesting conversations to tune into. In some cases there were no lack of scenes to tune into, some of the less inhibited patrons getting to know their companions, or even their Companions, out in the open. Open being a relative term of course, the vibrantly decorated inn had no lack of corners to tuck oneself into should the urge for privacy strike, though from the looks of things, it didn't strike often.
Finishing her glass of wine, Jischa passed the glass to a passing server with a thoughtful smile, heading up in the direction of her room. She'd get freshened up and change into her newly delivered clothing, then find something entertaining to do. She'd passed a tavern on her way here that looked perfect, something like the Bucking Stallion? |

Having finished her dinner, Nehsmay paid the bill and pondered what to do next... she could return to the city gates to meet her friends or perhaps she could go and see what her horse Shade was doing. Still none of these actions seemed appealing to her and the Konti woman still held her interest. The Vantha was a storyteller, but she despite loving weaving tales she also adored hearing them, especially myths from other races. She wondered whether she should go greet the woman...
Getting to her feet, Nehsmay still debated what she should do... the accommodation prices in the inn were too expensive for her modest budget so sleeping at the inn was definitely out of discussion, but still Nehsmay hated to leave the beautiful interior behind.
She made a few uncertain steps towards the door, but as distracted as she was, she hadn't noticed one of the clerks heading towards a customer so she bumped into him and fell on the floor. The man staggered, frowned at her mumbled apology and went on his way. Sighing, Nehsmay tried to pick herself up... |

A crash sounded behind her just as she'd turned to leave, and Jischa's brow lifted in surprise as she turned back to see the very server she'd just handed her glass to heading toward the fallen Vanthan woman. A touch of annoyance at her plans being interrupted gave way immediately to the inherent pull of her nature. She was a Konti, and even before that, she was a Healer. Touching the server's arm, she pushed her hair back from her eye and revealed the intricately designed Gnosis mark near her eye, and the server immediately moved away as if she'd vocally declared "I am a Healer, step aside, peasant!" or some other such nonsense.
Offering a hand to the fallen woman, she shook her head at the attempt to rise on her own. "Here, let me help." She looked after the man who'd been involved in the crash, ready to berate him for not even helping her up, but he'd already disappeared into the maze of tapestry-slung corners and hide-aways. "Some men have all the manners of a sea slug," she muttered, looking the unnamed Vanthan woman over with a keen eye. "Are you hurt anywhere at all?" |

Nehsmay glared at the retreating back of the man... sure it had been her fault, but honestly did he have to look at her like she was some kind of dirt on his fancy coat? Hmph... She glanced in surprise seeing the Konti woman come and help her up. She graciously accepted her hand and rose to her feet steadily... her knee throbbed having already fallen on it once a few hours ago.
"Thank you." She bowed a little at the Konti. "You are very kind." Nehsmay grinned and nodded eagerly as she heard what the other woman said about men. She was right...though not all of them were like that. A memory came to her, but she shoved it aside before it brought more pain than it was worth. "I am not hurt." Her knee throbbed in pain as if trying to state the contrary, but she ignored it and frowned a bit, her eyes turning a dark shade of pink. "My name is Nehsmay..." she introduced herself "Thank you once more for helping me out." |

Having helped Nehsmay to her feet, Jischa returned her smile. "No problem, I'd have felt terrible if you were hurt. I'm Jischa, by the way, Jischa Va'el. I was just on my way to get dressed when that oaf made you fall, else I'd stick around and see to it that he landed on his rear if he passed this way again." Giving Nehsmay's hand a small squeeze, she looked at the woman curiously. "You're quite sure you're alright then? I'd hate to leave if you were feeling poorly. You took quite a spill there, and if you'll pardon my saying so - you're tiny!"
Glancing around the inn, Jischa spotted a nearby couch half-hidden behind a gold-fringed tapestry, nodding in that direction. "Would you like to sit for a while before you go up to your room?" She smiled engagingly, clearly unaware that Nehsmay wasn't actually checked into the Golden Dragon Inn. |

Nehsmay looked at the other woman kindly, a tint of green swirling in her normally crimson eyes. She had not encountered many thoughtful people in Syliras so Jischa was a comforting change. "It was partially my fault as well, I got sidetracked... though he wasn't exactly looking where he was going either." She glanced at her feet wondering whether she should bother the stranger with her knee. "I'm ok, I've hurt my knee a little as I've previously fallen on it earlier today when someone shoved me out of his way on the streets." She sighed...
"I'd love to sit for a while, though I don't have a room booked here. I simply came because it's beautifully decorated. I have a tent and I'll probably book a room at the Traveler's Row for a couple of days." She sighed wistfully wishing she had enough mizas to afford living in the luxurious place; however her mother had only had 100 mizas to spare and those had to sustain her until she found a temporary job in the cities she visited. |
