65th of Fall, 514 A.V.
There was something strange about Voss's land dwelling Dhani brethren that he could not seem to place. Perhaps it was their comfortableness with their human forms, which he had yet to truly find, or the way they seemed content to lounge and languish. Voss had been brought up with the ideals that one worked for everything they got, and if the work was not put in, then one deserved nothing. Here it seemed females were deferred to for no particular reason apart from their gender, and power over one's fellows was gained through intrigue and manipulation. Ordinarily this might have disgusted the Iyvess thoroughly, as it was he just observed his surroundings with a lazy smile on his fine as he sat with a wooden cup of water, lounging in Dhani form on a series of cushions.
Though he was new to the Coil Club, and relatively inexperienced at his craft, his newness to Riverfall, and the strangeness of his form drew an audience to him even when he was trying to tell stories. This afternoon the group was entirely Dhani, and Voss adjusted his bright yellow underbelly, shifting into a position from which he could speak more easily, glad to see he could use his snake tongue without fear that the audience might not understand.
A half dozen serpents, a couple in human form, the others in Dhani assembled themselves, a few conversing politely with the Iyvess.
"My day hass been fine, yourss?" Voss nodded at the responses, giving polite responses to his question, then cracked his knuckles to get everyone's attention. "I have many sstoriess I am sssure you would love to hear, taless of the deepesst depthss of the ocean, of great huntss, of beautiful creaturess no land dweller hasss ever set eyesss upon. What might my beautiful brethren be in the mood for today?" Flattery, the perfect tactic to receive attentive interested listeners. Hisses of discussion were shared.
"I confesss I'd like to hear of more huntsss..."
"What of the fightsss between denss, Vosss sayss they often fought?!"
"I wish to hear more of Charbossi, it ssoundsss like a beautiful city..."
The Iyvess drew a clawed nail across his nose, then his long snout broke out into a deviously toothy smile. "How about a little of everything?" He leaned against the wall and folded his hands upon the point where his torso met his tail.
"Let'ss open with Charbossi, which is indeed a wondrouss city. Imagine buildings that withstand centuriess of ocean currentss, yet are made from a substance that you could crush between two fingers?" In a moment of brilliance Voss plucked a piece of ice from his cup and crushed it to great crackling effect in front of his audience.
"The colorss of the coral the Charodae usse for their buildingss are ass varied ass a rainbow, and they shape them with pure will, and connection with the ssubsstance."
He now took a measured sip of water, pondering where to go next. This story he was constructing he had decided would incorporate what everyone wanted, but he wanted to have fun, to make it up entirely, not something he did often. A fun challenge indeed.
