It's About That Time

Postby Oliver Cleff on January 15th, 2015, 8:37 pm

Hello everyone that is reading this and thank you in advance. Don't have anything else to do so I figured I would get this up in my free time. Judging from what I have seen I can't wait to get started and hope to get to know some of you while I am here.

1. Name - or what you'd like to be called!

First off you can call me Oliver, although do not be shy to give me nicknames and such. If you would like to know me a bit more personally I also go by Kai.

2. What sort of RP experience do you have if any?

I've been rping for awhile now. Around six years to be more specific, but I tend to be more relaxed on my posts.

3. How did you find us?

LONG hours of time spend on the wonderfully inaccurate search engine known as the googles.

4. What sort of RP style is your favorite?

One word: Character development

I love having a rather vague character with a faded goal, but I mostly depend on IC events to guide the along their paths and therefore my characters are very flexible while also having a weak goal in mind at the start. As for a mood I tend to favor quick posting in threads rather then long dragged out writing. Although that doesn't mean dull or not descriptive replies, just shorter then I usually would make them.

5. What do you like to write about - not write about?

Can't really give any real answers to this. It just matters if I am interested by what I am reading at first and if I can get into said subject.

6. Whats your favorite thing about Mizahar so far?

How much time and effort has been put into the Lore and everything supporting it.

7. What, if anything, has frustrated you about Mizahar so far?

While it isn't strictly about Mizahar I tend to want to read more of the lore then I can handle and will end up cursing myself for overwhelming myself with so much at once.

8. What would you like out of the mizahar experience?

I would like to get into the Lore and all and really expand my character(s). Also I would like to perhaps get to know some of the members here as well.

9. Is there anything you'd like to see expanded?

While minuscule there are a few things I would like to see more of

1. A little more detail in the skills that are lacking in description.

2. DEFINITELY MORE CHARACTER DRIVEN EFFECT ON THE PLOT

3. Perhaps some newly discovered gods at some point?

4. Who doesn't like a bit of war, AM I RIGHT?!

10. Anything else you want to talk about?

Actually if anyone is able to I do need someone that would be okay with cropping a pic for my profile.

It's About That Time

Hey there, welcome! You're right, there is a ton of lore, but a good way to tackle it beyond the basic history and such is to focus first on the areas that affect your character, like your region and city so you can start writing. After that, as you have time, you branch out into other areas.

I did want to address a couple points you brought up in your 'lacking' section:

  • Because the lore is so massive, there are still a lot of little areas, like many skills, that need filling out. Community-driven development is a big thing here and the World Development forum is always looking for more reviewers and article writers.
  • There is definitely a lot of character driven plot, but I'm not sure how much of it makes it into the lore. In terms of world-wide plot changes, Ivak was actually released from his prison by a PC. The majority of questing happens on a city-level though, since travel times make it difficult to do anything more far-reaching.
  • A new god just popped up recently, Ssena, the goddess of fear. The pantheon isn't something that needs discovered though, it's more that new ones are being created through various cataclysmic events. Those kinds of events don't happen often though.
  • If it's war you want, it's war you can have! The Myrians and the Dhani have been at war for ages over in Falyndar, and the Zith have stalked the Sea of Grass since their inception. The Akalaks are a proud warrior race in Riverfall (my own home base) where skill with a weapon is not only encouraged, it's expected of all formal citizens of the city.

A couple other teeny tiny things... I'd be happy to crop a photo for you if you want! And you'll want to delete the bumps from your character sheet - they don't get approved faster that way, and a CL Liaison will likely ask you to delete them when its turn does come around.

I think that's everything! Probably more 'help' than you were hoping for, I guess? If you ever have any questions or other problems, please feel free to message me, an ST, or pretty much anyone around. Everyone is always happy to help, and Mizahar can seem a little daunting at first.

Good luck out there!

Yes, indeed you did give a little more help then I was thinking I would get, but it's not overwhelming. As for the lore you are right I should pace myself, but I usually can't help myself since I get caught up in it rather easily.

Moving on to everything else as for the skills lacking I have noticed that and it's more of a suggestion then a demand seeing as I could live without it. As with PC characters effecting the plot I was talking about on a higher scale and making a big impact. While I understand it would take sometime I just would like to see such things. Coming upon having new gods I have not really read up on much of them yet so I wasn't quite sure and I'm glad that they are being made and discovered.

Finally, we come across the subject of the wars. While I understand most races control their own areas or regions I was thinking more of regional wars would happen rather then races based ones. Again this is just another suggestion that I hope to possible happen during my stay here and is nothing more then an idea as of now. Until then I am VERY, VERY content with the current plot and could really not complain with what Mizahar has to offer to all of it's members.

Also as you have already looked over my character sheet I only need the face cropped out from my character picture and will get to removing my bumps right away since I am already approved.

Syliras was recently attacked, dunno if its a cult or another city, and I don't think will break out, but it does seem rather...war like? I dunno. Welcome to mizahar, friend!
