Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

Once again, Kailey found herself in one of the training rooms. Her bare feet warm, the soles slick with sweat as she stepped lightly to the padded floor, sticking to the ground a moment, before she picked her foot up and moved on. Her body hot, although she wore a simple tunic and loose trousers, (choosing to cover her top half unlike most of the Akalak that were in the room, training all around her). Her face had reddened a little, although, she had tied her hair back into a ponytail to keep it off her neck, and help her stay cool.

Kailey could just make out the shuffling of feet as some of the man scuttled back and forth. Punching and blocking, parrying and countering. Grunting and sweating, and stinking up the whole place, threatening to overpower the intense scent of incense that lingered through the entirety of the building.

The Kelvic wrinkled her nose as she spared a glance at their instructor, standing at the edge of the room, his massive arms folded over his chest. She thought she remembered him being called Jallivik, or something like that. Although, he looked unnaturally similar to Soren, (from her first visit), for her to be entirely convinced that they were different people.

In any case, the Kelvic found herself having been assigned to one of the training dummies at the side of the room, not to far from where the junior instructor was standing. She squared off against it, and as instructed a few days prior, stood with her right foot in front of the left, with her chest turned to the side, so as to present less of a target to attackers. She hopped lightly on her feet, beginning to get the blood flowing through her system again as she stared at, (what she assumed), to be a hay-stuffed dummy.

The Kelvic took a deep breath, and then jabbed at the dummy's face, after having pulled her right fist forward, out of her arm's slightly cocked, outheld starting position. She grunted, and then followed up with an uppercut, wishing all the while that she could practice with someone real, as that would be far more fun.

OOCOn the Speedy Gonzales scale, I am a Slowpoke.

Please be forewarned. Thank you. ^^

[Tuvya Sasaran] Please Sir, Can We Fight S'more? (Open)

Postby Ssezzkero on April 14th, 2015, 1:47 am

Upon entering the Tuvya Sasaran, Sezkero felt no wish to be there. Dread filled her stomach and her throat clogged up as she watched the blue men and some human women around her. They all were set in their goal of learning to be proficient fighters, avid spreaders of violence. That is also why you are here. Sezkero reminded herself and tried not to cringe. There was a reason for her to be here, a reason that she both hated and needed.

In order to obtain Kuvan status to help Hirem, she would need to past a test to see how capable of violence she was. Given that the snake would rather starve than inflict harm on another, this contradicted her morals in an almost painful mental battle. You need to be here, you need to learn. Look for Jallivik. She tried to dumb her thoughts down to simple instructions as her wide brown eyes scanned the room for the particular Akalak.

A few days prior she had come in questioning about lessons. The Akalak she had met was more than pleased to teach her self defense, but she was not dressed properly the other day, so he requested she come back and taught her how to prepare herself. She work leggings now and a sleeveless top. Her headscarf still hung across her face, covering the mark on her neck and shielding her face from unwanted gazes. The spring air still held hints of the cool winter before, but there was no longer any necessity to cover her head, although that did not keep her from wearing the thing in public.

She found Jallivik then, he seemed to be observing the practice of another woman. As soon as she caught his eye, he waved to her, seemingly glad that the small nervous woman had decided to come back to learn how to throw a proper punch. Wide brown eyes widened even further as hsi bare-skinned chest approached and she wished she could bolt in the other direction.

Kero glanced quickly in the direction of the woman he seemed to be observing, wondering if she would notice that her instructor was distracted. Hopefully she would call the Akalak back and Sezkero could bolt and never look at the violent place again. But the Iyvess knew she had no such luck.

"Kara, right?" Jallivik held a palm up for her to shake. Her face was pale and it was clear she was not willingly there, so when she only stared at it he dropped it.

"Kero." She corrected in a whisper, which dropped Jallivik's smile.

"Look, Kero. I understand your... hesitation on learning to defend yourself. But like you said a few days ago, its necessary. I think its really important that you stay confident in yourself and don't fear it. Defense will come naturally, you will see." Sezkero wanted to snort at the man. She did not fear herself, for she knew she could inflict a fair amount of damage in either of her other forms. However, she did fear what the results of learning such violence... The snake shuddered, but nodded, following the instructor over to the woman who was already practicing.

"Kailey!" He boomed in a louder voice now. Sezkero removed her teal headscarf, folding it carefully before stuffing it in her bag. She tossed her possessions to the side of their small corner of the large room where it landed against the wall. She smiled at the woman, as she bent to undo her sandals and remove those as well, as Jallivik had suggested days before. "I found a sparring partner for you. She hasn't got any of the know-how that you do, but don't go easy on her." Please do. Ker thought, trying to calm her nerves. She was actually choosing to do this... what was wrong with her?

"Uh, hi." Sezkero half waved, offering another smile. Her nerves were already apparent and there was no point in hiding them.

"Let's jump into it. Would you like to show her how to make a fist or should I?" The words sunk in her stomach, and Sezkero shrunk into herself a bit. Was this woman so good that he was willing to let her start with something?

Sezkero already knew she was going to die before she ever escaped this school of Hai.

Kailey threw another punch at the dummy as her ears began to prickle, the small hairs at the base of her neck standing at attention. She could sense that someone was watching her. And now that she retracted her arm and bothered to listen, she could tell that someone was yelling at her, and they sounded very irritated, and were being pretty darn loud about the whole thing. Didn't he know she wasn't deaf, and didn't intend to become so any time soon?

Inwardly, Kailey sighed as she stared wistfully at the dummy for a moment, before jogging away to see what all of the commotion was about. She noticed her instructor had spoken, and he stood next to another woman. A short little thing, with small features and dark eyes. She looked delicate, like she could easily be broken, but Kailey knew better than to count her out of the fight just yet, because sometimes looks can be deceiving.

So, Kai smiled and listened to her teacher, before offering a quizzical look when he spoke again. Something that meant something along the lines of, what do you mean? Doesn't she know that all you have to do is make your hands into circles and squeeze kind of tight?

Kai shrugged it off though, and resumed her starting stance. Right foot about 8 inches before the left. Pointed ahead, the left towards her side. Hands raised, arms cocked. Hands slowly clenching into fists. Legs sinking so that her weight was balanced on each foot; legs bent at the knee, and then, she started her rythmic hopping as she eyed the woman up and down.

"You ready?" she asked, more or less to be polite. She wouldn't have bothered in a real fight.

Kai would wait another second, and then think to herself, here goes, as she sprang forward and swept her right arm back. Leaving it cocked and drawn up against her side. Her fist coming to meet with her middle, while the rest of the arm dangled behind her. Then, when within striking range, she'd shoot it outwards, directing the shot at the middle of the woman's arm.

Immediately, Sezkero knew this girl was not going to cut her any slack whatsoever. You are doing this for the kids. You are doing this for the kids. The snake grimaced as the punch sent her back a few steps. She didn't bother to glance at her instructor, obviously he thought this was a good idea. But she couldn't just sit here and get beat up, could she? So Sezkero tried to learn from the taller girl beside her. She figured that the girl knew what to do, if the pain in her arm proved anything, so she could learn from her.

The woman was hopping. Sezkero assumed it was to show she was light on her feet and ready to move, but to the snake, it just seemed silly. Disregarding that note, Ker wandered to her knees trying to take in the woman's stance. Bent knees, legs spread. This would offer support, but Ker was still confused about the hopping. They would simply cancel themselves. She can't support herself if she's always got one foot off the ground.Maybe you are just ignorant. Sezkero tried to persuade herself. She may not know how to throw a punch, but she was a dancer. Understanding out the body worked was how she made art.

Now she simply needed to apply that to violence... Great.

Only a few ticks had passed while the small Iyvess mimicked the woman. She brought her own fists up to her chest, not quite seeing the point in bringing them in front of her face, and took a step forward with her right foot. The snake was rather ambidextrous, having originally not had limbs, but her step was a dead give away to which side she would favor in that moment. She hesitated, suddenly aware of what she was doing, before tossing her fist forward.

She hated herself now. It wasn't a hard punch, Hai, she had barely given herself enough moment to make it to the woman's shoulder well enough to connect all four knuckles. That, paired with her hesitation at the idea of actually hurting the woman, barely made the action worthy anything. But just as quickly as the tiny woman realized her mistake, she earned her opponents return action.

Kailey found that she was smiling warmly as her opponent attempted her first strike. A rather simple, if not slow punch, that proved easy enough for the Kelvic to dodge with a simple side step, which was exactly what Kailey did as she shifted her weight onto her right foot, and drew the left around, and behind her. Winding her body in a circle, before shifting her weight again, and swinging her body around as she pivoted on her left foot, and raised her right leg. Rocking on her hip, she rotated her body, and cut through the air. Straightening her foot so that when it approached the dhani, it would make contact with her waist, (or just above that area), if the kick landed as she had intended.

The minute it had, or her leg had sailed past its intended mark, Kailey would return her limb to her side, and step back for a moment, to avoid any retaliation the dhani had in store for her. (Or at least, have a better chance at doing so). As soon as she had avoided, (or done her best to avoid), these potential attacks, Kailey would dart forward. When within striking distance, she'd jab at her opponent's chest, before lifting her right leg off the ground. This, she would bend at the knee, and thrust upward toward her opponent's middle in an attempt to knock the air out of her. When she was done, she'd place it back on the ground, before jabbing lazily at the dhani's shoulders, to help allow for her slight, temporary retreat, in order to gather herself.

OOCNo worries.

Also- sorry about this mass of attempts, I just thought it may be a bit easier to reply if there was more than one thing going on in this post.

Enjoy your weekend.
