Morning Winter 51st 514
Vizayas was in the Syliran Archives. He had just given his name and rank, and he was given permission to access the archives to look for a book that his patron had told him about. He was told to look for 'Leaderology' in the philosophy wing, and that he couldn't find it in the general section. He walked down the dimly lit halls that were somewhat cooler due to the morning air outside, his footsteps echoing in such a manner that he could guide himself with his eyes closed if he followed the reverberations that echoed well enough for him to imagine this place in his mind with some modicum of detail. Glancing around, he could tell that this place was heavily secure - as it should be. He liked to think of information as one of the most powerful forces after all. It would make sense for the knights to protect their books.
In the philosophy wing, there were books on gods and goddesses, and philosophies on many different lifestyles or disciplines. All of the books were tempting for him to pull out and read as he walked, with titles such as 'Priskil's Light' and 'Purity for Yahal' standing out to him as he walked further down the hall of the archive. They were organized by letters, and he followed the letters to find the book he was looking for. Then, he came across the section for L. The book he wanted was called 'Leaderology' and had a lot of information on, he guessed and was told, leading.
Tracing his finger along the many dusty old books in the section, he sorted through the alphabetized section and finally found what he was looking for. It was a frayed, heavily worn book threatening to buckle and fall apart as the old parchment clung to the last of its years. However, right next to it happened to be a version with much more life in the cover, a thin veneer of dust covering the surface. He pushed the old book back in, and tugged on the newer copy to pull it free from the shelf. He looked over the intricate spiral pattern on the binding, a deep blue that stood out in contrast to the dark brown leather of the book.
Vizayas left the hall, looking around until he found a large table well lit by a large candle. There was another man across from him, sitting near the edge opposite to where he was standing. The man looked old and grizzled, tough and strong. He seemed to be one of the knights, definitely not a squire. Vizayas judged that there would be no problem reading here, and pulled out an old wooden chair and sat upon it, placing the book on the table in front of him. There was no response from the man who sat there, quietly reading a book that he seemed very interested in. Taking that as an approval to get started, Vizayas carefully opened the book to the very first page.
The author's name wasn't completed, and Vizayas guessed that the original text must have been missing a name as well. The name of the book itself seemed strange, 'Leaderology' didn't seem like a real word to him, but it reminded him of fields of study he had heard about such as theology or geology. Vizayas turned to the next page, eyes gazing upon it. It was a note on the author, explaining that he was a professor from Zeltiva and had a hand in politics there for a time. Following this precarious note, Vizayas turned the page and found the meat of the book beginning to take shape. He dove into the text and began to scrutinize every word with fleeting interest. As his eyes were glancing over the dusty text, he could tell that the author was very straight and to the point. The book went on to explain the basics of what a leader is and is not.
Strength, charisma, respect? Vizayas knew he had very little of these. He was a wizard, and it was a good day if someone so much as spoke to him, let alone respected him. It was also good to know that he had to strive to be something much like his superiors, but he wasn't quite sure where to start. Then, the book went on to reference what a knight is not. Fear, blackmail, bribery. Avoid these things? Why? He could understand blackmail, as it was quite evil and possibly frowned upon in many parts of the world. Fear and bribery however, seemed like tools. He wasn't sure if he agreed with what the author had to say on that subject entirely, but he did think that it was possible these concepts could ruin the way other people thought of you if abused. He continued to read.

Leaderology, Faith In Yourself And Others
A guide written by professor S.

A leader is a strong, charismatic individual capable of influencing others to work together for a common cause through means of respect, integrity, discipline, awareness, and strategic oversight. He is not one who motivates exclusively with fear, blackmail, or bribery. To do such things is to fail in your facade as someone to respect.
