Moxie had seen the building before, many times actually, and how the children there laughed and play but sometimes if you looked close enough there was a sadness in some of their eyes. The Konti's heart did not like the look of such in a young one's eyes. They seemed to be well taken care of though but they did want to have the loving touch of a mother and father, one could see that clearly. Today she decided that she would go and play with the little ones. To be a dfferent adult that they see day to day, give them something that money could never buy, love.

She approached the three story stone building, The Welcome Home. The pale stone shone in the sun, giving off a hint of a blue gray hue that swirled through out the surface. The windows had boxes filled with beautiful flowers, a variety of colors displayed in the tiny structures, giving it a refreshed and homey feel. She observed a sign that read "Please knock. All unwanted children are welcome here and all those here are looking for good homes in the community." that was illustrated upon a simple looking shingle. She gave a bright smile as she walked onto the front porch, she opened the door and said in a loud tone, "Hello?" peering around her noticing that she was in what appeared to be a sitting room. She stood there waiting, not sure what to do, but surely did not want to be rude and impose on anyone or be a burden of any kind.

A bubbly woman appeared who had a kind and beautiful face, that was blessed with a smile that was just as kind as her features, "Yes? How can I help you, come in, come in!" The woman said in a happy tone, ushering the Konti further inside to what appeared to be a living area that branched out to other rooms. "I wanted to play with the children.. I feel they might be.. lonely in a way. Just want to volunteer for the day.. help in any way I can." Moxie explained in her broken common, as the woman's eyes were bright and she nodded enthusiastically at Moxie's request. "Yes, Yes please do come on in, the children are in the back yard. I am sure they would love to company of another! There is another woman here as well, maybe you two could come up with a game for the children to play or something. Oh, I am so excited please follow me. The woman rambled in a bright tone, excited and happy to have the help. Moxie smiled noting how caring and happy she appeared to be, knowing the children were blessed to have such a caretaker here to attend to them. "Oh! By the way I am Aenysa Tieran, call me Aenysa, and you are?" She glanced over her shoulder, her eyes bright with excitement and Moxie gave her a bright smile back, "Pleasure to meet you... I Moxie." The Konti replied as she followed the woman to the back yard.

The yard outside was beautiful and appeared to be peaceful as well. There was different types of play equipment the children were playing on and a small stone barn. The yard was quite large and big enough for all the children to play with out being too crowded. She watched as they played wondering how old each one was, what their names were, and what their dreams could be. She looked to the side and saw another woman standing there as she watched the children play. She had pale skin almost as white as her own, with ebony hair that had a hue of brown to it. The woman was short and lanky and a long nose graced her face. Moxie could not tell what color her eyes were from where she stood, so she approached the woman with a smile.

"Hello, I am Moxie. Was wondering if..we could..help children together? Perhaps..games?" Her broken common was laced with her Konti accent as she asked the woman her question, hoping she would indeed join her in making the children laugh and happy. Though they already seemed to be that way, she wanted to help and do something nice for them either way. Moxie did love kids, though she was not ready for one of her own, she thought them to be adorable especially their little imaginations. She looked at the woman before her, waiting for her response keeping the pleasant smile on her face.

I have no idea why I'm here.

The pale stone walls intimidated Kayuqtuq as she started at them with intimidated navy blue eyes. The Welcome Home, it was called. Hopefully she would feel welcome...

She was not very fond of children. Hated them. They grabbed onto her, and screamed, and didn't know about telling good stories. The list went on and on. But they liked music. Just like back home. Back home where everyone liked music. Even nasty children. Hopefully they liked it here too. "Hopefully."

"What?" A woman with a huge smile on her face peeked her head out the door. Seeing Kayuqtuq's lute case on her back, her smile widened and beckoned quickly. Kay's eyes turned a colour like mud. She dragged her feet into the large building, where the woman was practically losing her mind.

"I'm Aensya, and welcome! Me and the children would just love, love, love it if you would play us a little song on your lute. What is your name?"

Kayuqtuq made her best fake smile, her eyes shifting to a bright orange-yellow. "Would just love, love, love to play. I can sing or tell stories too! I am Kayuqtuq, but can cal me Kayu. Easier to say for little ones."

Aensya's already bright smile became even bigger. "Why, a Vantha! I bet the children will love your stories, Kayu! Come, right this way!"

Aensya led her to a yard, and held out her hand in a motion to wait. While she gathered up the children, a young blond-haired woman came up to her. Under closer inspection, it became clear this was a Konti.

"Hello, Moxie. Will be playing song for children, but after that, sure."

Note: Kayuqtuq is only basic in Common, and particularly has trouble with grammar and the structure of words. If you notice she talks a little like a six-year old, that's why.
Note: Due to real life, posts will be delayed. I'm working hard on some non-Mizahar writing, and that plus school and various other things makes it hard to post.

Love is Free

Postby Aiyana Ottano on August 8th, 2015, 1:24 pm

Aiyana found herself staring at the doors of The Welcome Home.

She wasn't sure what had brought her here, but here she was, trembling before the pale walls of the small building. Loneliness sought out loneliness, she supposed.

Aiyana wasn't much for talking, not anymore, but she knew what it felt like to be full of self-loathing, as orphans often were; she knew what it felt like to be rejected. No one deserved to feel like that, especially not a child. That was the sort of thing that haunted a child for the rest of its life. That was the sort of thing that turned innocent babes into vengeful killers.

Her resolve determined, she inched towards the pale door and knocked.

It opened almost at once to reveal a small, beaming figure.

"Hello, hello! Why, there's been a whole tide of visitors today and I'm certainly happy to see another one!"

The woman eyes trailed up and down her body, taking in her dark cloak, silvery hair and bare feet. Aiyana supposed she must look a little like an orphan herself. The Kelvic shuffled from foot to foot.

"My name is Aeyensa and I care for the children here. How may I help you?"

Aiyana's eyes fixed themselves on the floor, avoiding the woman's gaze.

"Might I play with them?" She murmured.

"Of course, of course! Come on in, dear girl." She was grabbing Aiyana by the arm then, and tugging her over the threshold where three others were already gathered around a group of healthy, but morose group of children, wearing the the same distinct air of neglect that orphan children often did.

Aiyana padded over, already wishing she could turn on her heels and flee. Her heart hammered inside her chest, threatening to burst free of her ribcage; the last time she had played with children was as a young Kelvic, working in a tavern, back when she was happy. Memories of such times flooded her thoughts now, but she forced them down. Later. She could remember and be sad later.

Forcing a smile, she quickly glanced at the three others: a woman with hair as pale as her own and unmistakably Konti, a dark-haired Vantha and a small, long nosed woman.

Keeping her head down and her eyes on the floor, she greeted them in her timid way.

"My name is Aiyana. I would like to join you."

Moxie was pleased to hear that the dark haired woman would join her in playing with the children. But first it seemed she had different plans as well, so Moxie backed off as the children gathered around. Before the woman who had yet to give her name could sing however, another woman appeared from behind Moxie. Her timid voice making her turn around and take her in. She had coppery colored blonde hair, her eyes looked slightly feline and were grey in color. The woman was almost as pale as Moxie was, yet in a more sickly way, her features a bit exotic and different. The Konti gave her a bright smile, motioning her forward with a gesture of her left hand.

"Of course.. More the merrier. I am Moxie." Moxie said in her broken common, bringing the timid girl forth. "This woman.." Moxie gestured to the dark haired woman, "..will be singing soon for the children. After that we should... All get together... Come up with game." The Konti's tone was bright and cheerful, welcoming the new girl into the group of listeners for the dark haired woman's song.

Moxie stood back among the children so she could enjoy it as well, looking over and giving the new girl a reassuring grin. She fixed her gaze on the dark haired woman, awaiting for this song she said she was going to be playing for the children. Looking at Aiyana for a few seconds then back to the singer. Her features were a bit different then most, she wondered if she was a different race. She some what looked like a Konti, though there were a lot of differences between them. Her hair held color, coppery hues, where as Moxie's was a stark white. Her skin was pale but dull, and Moxies was a lively pale that seemed to shimmer in the light of the sun. The woman's eyes were a feline grey and Moxie's were amethyst in color. Moxie turned the features over, deciding that the woman looked like a feline in a lot of ways, after the song she perhaps would ask her about it, as she was curious to get to know these two women, they both held such differences that Moxie had no idea about.

Shortly after Moxie arrived, another girl came up. She promptly introduced herself as Aiyana, and asked if she could join them. Kayuqtuq opened her mouth to reply, but Moxie answered first. I haven't introduced myself.

Kayuqtuq's eyes became their normal bright, nervous yellow. "I Kayuqtuq. Can call me Kayu if want." She grinned at Aiyana and Moxie and her eyes softened to a happy amber colour. She took a moment to study the two woman.

Aiyana was very feline. Kayuqtuq knew a Kelvic when she saw one, having grown up in a city where they were more common then regular humans.

This lady was unmistakably one of them.

Some sort of cat. She had feline eyes, an angular face, pale skin, and long, coppery hair. Very Kelvic.

Moxie, on the other hand, was quite normal for a Konti. She was the same height as Kayuqtuq and very skinny. She had long blond hair and violet eyes, and her scales and gills were honestly the only thing that marked her as a Konti.

Shrieks and giggles came from the far side of the yard as a group of children ran towards her, Aensya calmly following in their wake. "Now, children, this is Kayu, and she will be playing some music and telling some stories for us." The children's happy squeals were really getting to her. Her eyes turned a very reluctant pink, and the children thought that was incredibly cool. Why did I choose to do this again? She shot Aiyana and Moxie a look of slight irritation.
