Riverfall Orphanage
(To Be Named...)

Hey guys! So while we get things planned out for the orphanage. am not particularly fond of mass PMs or really long ones that I can't track, so this is a thing now. Everything and anything that you may think up in regards to the orphanage can go here. We can keep track of threads contributing to the orphanage below.

We are welcoming anyone who wants to participate (in and out of Riverfall), just pop in and we can find a way for you to fit in. At the moment the Orphanage is barely a concept IC.Let's keep chatter to a minimum, we have pms for that. :)

I'm really curious as to where all these orphans are coming from. I've seen, thus far, several threads take place where the hordes of orphans are discussed but the fact of the matter is that no where in the literature does Riverfall have a transient problem or homeless people (let alone kids) on the streets. Everyone who lives in the city are required to be employed and at a certain level of living (good) or they are ousted.

I know I wasn't asked about orphans. I know I don't have an AS to give out misinformation. And I know the literature hasn't talked about this at all. So while making an orphanage is always a good idea, I'm just curious where all Riverfall's street rats are coming from? Kids are valued and protected in RF. If they are being brought in some other way, then I can understand this... but thus far RF isn't anything like say Sunberth where there are a lot of lower class and orphans roaming the streets homeless.

Hullo.

Since I worked with Sezkero on the concept of an RF orphanage, I'll do my best to explain where my thought process came from. Of course, if I'm wrong about any of this and canon RF actually is a perfect place for non-Akalak kids to live, I do sincerely apologize.

My thoughts on the orphanage started when Timothy Mered entered the city, and had his character get into a situation where he would soon be kicked off the streets if he couldn't find a stable job. And since Tim wasn't willing to find one or was unable, he wasn't left with much choice other than fleeing the guards and biding his time until the inevitable occurred. And this got me wondering, in a city of 8000 with about 40% of the population being non-Akalak, how many more kids wound up in Tim's situation? It made sense to me that there was at least a dozen other youngsters in the same boat.

And so, at least when I was helping to create the orphanage project, it was never about helping the hordes of homeless children in RF. Just the scarce few that might have evaded the Kuvay'Nas and risked getting expelled into the Sea of Grass. And in the future, potentially pulling kids from SB and other horrid locations and giving them a new home in lovely RF.

Again, if any of this information conflicts with actual RF lore, I apologize.

Because I am unsure of where this plot may be going, I would like to put this question out there. Is the orphanage possible or not?

I would be disappointing if it is not, but I probably should have checked with you myself before diving so deeply into this with Sezkero. So what do you say, Goss?
