Heya, the Latin without capitalization made me think this was another spam post so I never clicked on it.
If you haven't read your welcome PM in your inbox, you should read it. It has a lot of helpful links, but I'm guessing you already have.
If you need any help at all, send me a PM. There's a lot of complexity on this site, and it seems people are very particular on the understanding of the lore, so never stop reading! You can still jump right in though, you're new so you're going to make mistakes anyway.
In terms of freedom, unless you're trying to earn coin, I'd say being a squire is a great way for a newer player to go full circle around the block. You can come up with almost any sort of PC and have them be a squire so long as they aren't too bad of a person. You also get a tutor NPC that you can run training threads with, your patron knight.
A good town to start in is Alvadas, since the Storyteller there (Fable) is pretty nice and there aren't a lot of people there. It's a very casual atmosphere.
