Their was hardly any wind movement in the great Bazaar, there was hardly any wind anywhere throughout the castle. It was probably one of the few things Daresh missed most about living outside of the city. Daresh caught himself staring at the thick oily smoke drifting up from one of the torches before he turned and continued on his rounds through the baazar. It was an easy duty, some knights found it boring but Daresh enjoyed it, good time to get a bit of shopping done. The bazaar was also one of the best places to get a feel for the mood of the citizens. Everything seemed to be pretty normal, bit of a cold wind had rolled through first of the season. Some were worried it was sign of an early winter but most just figured it was Bala asserting that the watchstones hadn't pulsed false.

A small jewelry stand caught Daresh's eye briefly and he paused and looked at some of the baubles. Not that Daresh wore jewelry himself or had anyone special to gift it too, sometimes when he saw something well crafted sometimes he just had to stop and check it out. The jeweler turned to address Daresh and he just smiled and nodded politely before going back to his rounds. There was a man in the crowd, something about him just struck Daresh as odd, he wasn't sure what it was about the man. It just seemed as if the man was trying really hard to be seen and the cloak he was wearing was a little heavy for being in the bazaar. None of that was really too suspicious but he had caught Daresh's attention.

Daresh started following after the man, trying not to be too obvious about tailing the stranger. Some of the other shoppers could tell the obvious intent of Daresh's stride, even if they might not know where he was going, and made sure to clear a path. Granted when an armored knight with a shield strapped to his arm and a sword at his hip strode forward most cleared the path whether the knight looked purposeful or not. As Daresh drew closer another man strode toward the cloaked man and drew close, the newcomer was in studded armor and had a sword at his hip. They shared whispered words and Daresh drew closer straining his ears.

Dozens of voices overlapped in the Bazaar, people haggling over prices, merchants calling out the low price and high quality of their goods. The noise made it nearly impossible to hear the whispered conversation of two men a dozen feet away. Daresh was trying to draw close enough to hear but a large man in plate armor didn't exactly make it easy to approach without drawing attention. Of course Daresh could just detain and search them, if they were doing nothing wrong though than it just made the order look bad. Seeing two more knights approaching from the other direction though Daresh waved to get there attention.

"Stopping them, be prepared", Daresh silently signed in Ekeldi. The knights looked slightly confused but nodded in confirmation. Daresh stepped up his pace coming up behind the two, his armor clinking loudly from the movement. The cloaked man turned having heard the noise than jumped and took off running, darting between citizens. The other knights caught on quickly and one jumped out trying to grab the runner. The armed man hadn't caught on as quickly and was drawing his blade as Daresh punched him in the head with a gauntleted fist. The man stumbled forward, somehow managing to pull his sword from the scabbard. Daresh went to draw his own sword but his opponent was already leaping forward with thrusting with his blade. Daresh tried to get his shield in place but was too slow, managing only to knock the blade slightly off target. The blade scraped across his breastplate leaving a thin scratch in the armor.

Thank god for armor, was all Daresh could think as he pulled the shield into place. Daresh's paetron had always berated him for not being ready with the shield when the first blows were being struck. Daresh reached for his sword but his opponent was already swinging again. Daresh dashed forward swinging his shield upward, catching his attacker off guard the shield connected with the mans jaw. Stumbling backwards Daresh finally had time to draw his own sword. The swordsman was rubbing his jaw as the two other knights closed in, seeing the other two coming he swung wildly towards Daresh's head. Ducking down slightly Daresh raised his shield catching the blade, following up with a quick thrust at the man's leg. The man cried out in pain as the blade buried itself into his thigh. The other two knights closed in and he stumbled back on his wounded leg holding up his blade over his head in one hand.

"I surrender please don't kill me", The man whimpered pitifully. Daresh rose using the cold iron blade in his hand to bat away the loosely held blade the surrendering man still had. The criminals blade clattered to the ground as Daresh's found itself at the criminals throat. He looked over to the other knights seeing them empty handed.

"What happened to the other one?" Daresh questioned looking over his shoulder at the other knights.

"Nettle cloak", one of the knights called, holding up his injured hand, several deep gashes where he had grabbed onto the metal spikes hidden in the cloak.

"Told you that you should have worn the gauntlets", the other knight chuckled as Daresh shook his head. They were taking this too lightly someone just broke the peace and they were laughing about it.

"Take his blade to the armory might be useful", Daresh called as he sheathed his blade and grabbed the back of his captives collar.

"You aren't my sergeant" The knight with the wounded hand scoffed. The other slapped him on the back of the head as Daresh walked off rolling his eyes.

]"Where are you taking me?" The captive called out as he plodded along. Daresh just jabbed his prisoner in the back with the rim of the shield urging the prisoner forward. As they climbed the steps Daresh noticed the limp in his captives step and the few drips of blood left behind after every few steps. It wouldn't likely matter, Daresh mostly just didn't want to kill him in the middle of the Bazaar. Corpses were not good for business, plus cleaning up all that blood would be a pain, granted could probably get away with making a squire do it. Daresh felt he could gather some information from this man before he did away with him though. As they made it up to the third tier of the castle Daresh pushed the captive towards the gate. Two knights were at the gate they were just there to ask the business of any entrants, at the moment there didn't seem to be anyone.

"How long have you been here?" Daresh asked commandingly, causing the knights to start. They straightened up as they looked at Daresh, he noticed their shoulders slump as they saw only one sword pinned to his collar

"Been here since dawn. We were supposed to be relieved two bells ago but no one has shown", The closest of the knights grumbled as the other slumped against the wall.

"Did you see this man enter today?" Daresh asked pushing his captive forward into the light. Both of the guards shook their heads and relaxed against the open archways.

"Did a man in a cloak come running through here earlier?" Daresh asked getting angry with the lack of care these men were showing for their duty.

"Yeah few minutes before you showed up. Seemed nervous tried to stop him but he got away", The guard on the other side responded.

"How?" Daresh growled. The guard held up a bare hand with a large puncture in the meaty part of his hand by the thumb. Daresh sighed angrily and pushed his captive forward out of the gate towards the road. As they went he wondered if he was the only knight in this castle who wore his gauntlets. When they reached the road Daresh kicked him in the back of the knee forcing his captive down.

"Pray to whichever gods you desire. You will meet Dira soon", Daresh explained drawing his fathers sword. The metal rasping against the scabbard holding up his sword Daresh sent a quick prayer to Wysar, Yahal and Sylir for guidance and forgiveness for the ugly action he was committing in the name of peace. Followed by another quick prayer to Dira and Lhex to ease this mans passage and guide him to a life that would keep him from falling into a position like this again. Daresh raised the sword and swung the blade, slicing through the air as it plunged towards the prisoner's neck.

]"Wait, wait!" The prisoner yelled rolling onto his side, causing the cold iron blade to slice helplessly through the air. Daresh growled and pushed the man on his back blade poised ready to stab down into his heart. The man continued to plead for his life, and Daresh pulled back ready to do his duty and end the mans life.

"I can give you information!" The man yelled causing Daresh to pause.

"What information could you offer for me to spare your life?" Daresh asked putting his blade to the mans throat.

"I'm a bandit, we have a camp. I'll tell you where it is", The bandit offered.

"We will find the camp eventually and put your comrades down to", Daresh explained tensing to pull the blade across the mans throat.

"There is an attack planned on one of the caravans to the Mithryn outpost. If you don't act on my info your people will die", The bandit continued causing Daresh to pause once again. With a sigh Daresh sheathed his sword and grabbed the bandit by the collar, pulling him to his feet.

"You will point out the location on a map and I will put you in the tank instead of in the ground", Daresh offered as he pushed the man back towards the gate. It wasn't a guarantee of survival, a proclaimed bandit who assaulted a knight and assisted the escape of another criminal, such crimes weren't exactly taken lightly. If Daresh dropped that the man gave information leading to the prevention of a raid though he might be lucky enough to receive hard labor.

Daresh marched his captive through the halls of Stormhold Castle, he couldn't help but think of the odd turn today had taken. Today should have just been a simple market patrol, filled with socializing with the citizens. Instead Daresh had been interrupted by the fool bandit he had captured, he hadn't even gotten to make any of the purchases he had been planning on. As they came up on the archive Daresh pushed his captive towards the guard at the door.

"Keep an eye on this one I need to get a map", Daresh instructed as he continued on into the archive. It took but a few moments to locate the map he was looking for. It was a newer map, only a few years old, it marked most of the major locations in the lands the Sylirian Knights held and patrolled along with clearly marking the Mythrin outpost and the surrounding fields. Although it did also still have Evantide marked as fully intact, it would do though. Daresh brought the map out and the other knight looked at him suspiciously so Daresh didn't go far. Unrolling the map against the wall he waved the bandit forward.

"Now tell me where it is", Daresh instructed. The bandit looked over the map seeming to be confused.

"Well I'm not entirely sure", the bandit claimed. Daresh glared at him.
"But. . . . uh it was between here and the Aylassa caves, south of the geysers though", The bandit stammered out.

"I thought you said you were taking a caravan from the Mithryn outpost?" Daresh questioned. The place he was talking about didn't seem like it would give very good access to the South Kabrin Road.

"The plan was to take rafts down the Avitar River and hide out under the bridges on the south Kabrin until the caravan to come into range", The bandit explained. Daresh nodded, wasn't an awful plan, so long as they didn't get spotted drifting down the river by a wing patrolling the fields.

"Alright than. That'll do", Daresh took the map back into the archive. As he was on his way back out he heard some kind of scuffle and rushed towards the door. When he got to the door it was already finished the bandit was on the ground a gruesome hole in his chest as the knight who had been guarding the archive wiped the blood, from his blade, on the corpses leather armor.

"What happened?" Daresh demanded.

"He tried to take my blade", The knight explained with a shrug. It didn't really add up but it wasn't exactly his place to question the knight's story. Daresh sighed pinching the bridge of his nose, it likely would have been the former bandit's fate anyway so it didn't likely matter. It didn't really feel like justice though.

"Fine you killed him you get to clean it up", Daresh grumbled as he stormed away. The knight tried to object but Daresh was already gone, he was going to report this information to his sergeant and than he was going to hit the bathhouse, he was done with this day.
