Taking Root (Beodan)

Night had finally arrived, and with it came the overwhelming feeling of exhaustion as if her own biological clock was synced to the sun. Her eyelids were heavy with drowsiness to the point where just holding them open was starting to get tiring. Her body didn't fare much better. She felt like she could just lie down where she was and fall into deep sleep if it weren't for the cold. The last thing she wanted to do was catch a cold. Though she did feel bad about making her new friend share space with her in his bed, the thought of warmth and comfort overwhelmed whatever reservations she had about it.

With a grunt, Joanna pulled herself up off the ground by Beodan's hand. Standing up so fast made her head spin for a moment, but before too long she had regain enough of her senses to follow Dan back into the tent. She felt like she should say something. A thank you, or some kind of appreciative gesture. This kind of hospitality was not something she was accustomed to, especially from another Kelvic. And though many of her habits had been reformed by human interaction, she felt a sense of ease around him. Like she didn't have to act so reserved. This was not a new observation, of course. But it was a unique enough occurrence that Joanna couldn't stop thinking about it. She would think of a way to repay him, even if he refused.

Her mind snapped back as Beodan walked past her to the other side of the room. She was confused at first until she saw him putting out the lights around his home. Darkness crept further across the tent with each flame vanishing from sight, until Dan himself was swallowed whole. It took time for her eyes to eventually make out his silhouette, by which time he had already made his way into bed. She felt a bit nervous, still, for no particular reason. At least, none that she could coherently describe.

“This way.”

A smile stretched across her face as she guided herself to the voice, using her hands to gauge her distance. She felt her fingers brushed past his arm before finally settling on the bed, where she slowly crawled past him to the side pressed against the wall. She was so tired she could barely think of anything besides sleeping. Even her arms were starting to go comatose as she struggled with pulling back the covers. With enough effort she managed to slip into warmth and comfort with a long sigh. With the last remaining consciousness, she turned her head to look at Beodan with a warm smile. She would have said "Good night", but instead sleep hit her like a loaded wagon, and within the span of a few seconds she was already into deep sleep.

Taking Root (Beodan)

Beodan grinned back at his houseguest as she clambered past him to the
other side of the bed, her hand skimming his arm before it assisted
her in her journey across the soft blankets. Once she was settled, he
climbed under the blankets with her, and pulled them up to their
shoulders. He caught one smile from her before she was out like the
lamps that he had blown out moments earlier. He rolled his eyes and
smirked. For a women that spent so much of her time amongst civilized
humans, falling asleep instantly was a highly equestrian trait. When
he spent lots of time as his animal half, his human sleep schedule got
all out of whack due to the frequent little naps, rather than one long
block of unawareness. Picking up the words that had died on her
slightly parted lips, he intoned, “Goodnight, Joanna.”

After brushing a lock of platinum hair out of her face, he turned to
lay on his back. One arm above his head, the other placed over his
abdomen. He sighed, just a long exhaling of air. The growing warmth
next to him caused his chest to ache for his missing bondmate, with
whom every night was spent in sweet company. The situation he was
currently in was so close, and yet so far to that experience. He shut
his eyes and attempted to shut off his thoughts. He envied her easy
slip into sleep, and willed his mind to follow her example.
Adventually, the extra source of warmth combined with the slow ebb and
flow of the wind through the trees lulled him into a gentle sleep. He
would likely rise before her and carry out his morning routine of
caring for plants and checking the hanging herbs. Maybe she would like
to accompany him on a graze just after dawn? Sun shining through the
trees into a meadow was one of the most beautiful sights the forest
had to offer in his opinion, and he was sure she would appreciate it.
But, that would only happen after they both rejoined reality from the
world of dreams.

Notes :
An interesting meeting between two horse Kelvics, and an interaction that I have actually never read about until now :D I do have one concern, however, and that is the copy and pasting of dialogue. Please do not do that in the future and instead paraphrase or find other ways of referring to dialogue your partners have written.

Look forward to seeing what you two come up with next. Happy RPing!
