The Diamond of Kalea is located on Kalea's extreme west coast and called as such because its completely made of a crystalline substance called Skyglass. Home of the Alvina of the Stars, cultural mecca of knowledge seekers, and rife with Ethaefal, this remote city shimmers with its own unique light.

The man’s voice hit Saej’s ears like a knife, she had almost forgotten he was there as she stared at the stars and wondered if Zintila was looking at them too, missing her home. She took a moment before replying, taking her time to chew on the end and ponder if she should offer him some as he made an effort to wade over to her.
“This? Just some bluvi. It really relaxes ya.” She took a long drag from the pipe and blew a smoke ring, watching it float and consequently dissipate. In all honesty she didn’t really want to offer him any, but her better nature told her she should. Finally, she decided she would wait for him to ask.
“It’s made from flower petals, though I call it a tobacco. Really sweet stuff. It’ll get your head right.”
Above her, a group of kingfishers took flight from their roost in the trees. Their melodic cry filled the air like a choir and as they landed twenty feet away from Saej. She turned around to watch them. ‘Next time I come, I’m bringing some bird feed.’ She thought as she watched them strut and preen. A few of them were still singing, flapping their wings at one another if one of them got too close to where the other was pecking. The tiny lizards were out as well, lounging on the rocks, their backs like mini paintings of the night sky. She half expected them to twinkle. They were pretty. One made it’s way over to Saej, wriggling to her in its hurky-jerky manner over to sit on the rock beside her, nearly a foot away. It splayed out, and rested its head on the rock, only moving to emit a tiny yawn which made its maw open wide in a cute gesture of its tiredness. Though she wanted to, she made no effort to touch it; afraid it would bite her and knowing that it would likely leave if she tried.

She turned her attention away from the animals that inhabited the hot springs and back to the man. The public bath thing was still a bit, weird. In bath houses you had your own stall or room, at least, away from the other patrons but here everything was out for everyone to see. ‘I would be surprised if someone was spying from the bushes’, she thought, and her eyebrows raised slightly as the man still sat in the pool.

She had seemed lost in thought as he approached, watching her face. It appeared as though she were watching the stars and his eyes followed up to see what was so interesting, but all he could see were just that… stars. Her voice was soft and low as he turned his gaze back toward her.

“I’ve heard of it but I don’t recall ever having tried it,” he sniffed a little getting the sweet scent, “smells pretty good though. Does it have a good flavor? What’s it made from?” Her answer came and it gave him pause. He’d never thought to consider smoking petals, although most anything could probably be smoked and he’d more than likely try it to see what kind of buzz could be had.

He wondered for a moment if he should ask or not but decided that it didn’t matter if he did or not. The taste of the bluvi was intriguing and it smelled unlike anything he’d tried before. Giving in he decided that despite not knowing the woman perhaps sharing a pipe could give them a means to converse. Although it was her pipe and ultimately her decision whether she shared or not that it wouldn’t hurt to ask.

Shifting feet under the water he spoke, “Do you mind if I have a try? Perhaps I could repay you with a bowl or line sometime over a drink?” He wondered if the woman did more than just smoke. His eyes roved over her, flaming hair surrounding her face, dark eyes under soft lashes. Although she didn’t appear to be the party type that he usually saw littering the bar he frequented she didn’t exactly have a stay at home mother appearance either. She was unlike any other woman he’d seen before to be frank.

“I’m sorry that was rude of me, I didn’t even introduce myself, my name is Sebastian and yours?” he had been quite rude, not even bothering with introductions as his father had hounded into him from a young age. His father was all about being courteous toward women, beating into his mind… and backside, when he was younger.

OOCYeah that nice little paragraph was some filler, herp-de-derp gonna look at some wildlife.

She swung her legs around and stuck them in the springs, the warmth of the water was a welcome feeling. The buzz hadn’t hit her yet, she used it so often its effects were nominal at best, unless she wanted to blast a couple bowls to her face. Unfortunate. The high was almost like speed meets a downer, euphoria mixed with a calm bliss. If she had a bad day, a sweet bowl of bluvi always peeked her spirits; even if she wasn’t fully buzzed and riding it.
“I’m not sure what plant it’s made from, but the high is great man. I’m telling you. The flavor is similar to some good Temper, but less bitter and much more flowery.”

So he did want to try a bite. They always did, from his rugged appearance she sensed a kindred spirit.

She took one more great inhale from the pipe, the hot smoke filling her lungs and daring her to cough, before extending her arm over the waters for him to come grab it. It was still smoking, the sweet scent beginning to waft and fill the air.
“Sure, you aren’t sick are ya?” She paused, “I dunno about a line, I’ve quit that shyke, but a bowl would be nice. I haven’t had any Temper in over a year.” Which was true, ever since she left her home she hadn’t found anyone who was a user. Well, asides from the normal people who stalked the streets looking to sell a bag. But she was wary to buy from them, they were sure to short her or jack the price up and she refused to pay more than three for a slice.

“Sebastian, that’s a mouthful. And don't worry about being rude, I was gonna offer you some anyway. Hate to smoke in front of people. I’m Saej. And this,” she shook the pipe in her hand, “is Snilla, the smoking device you’ll be using today.” Announcing it like she were a shopkeep hawking her wares. “Handle him carefully, if you drop him in the springs you owe me two bowls, one to fill and one to smoke. Got it?”

He watched as she shifted and explained the taste and effects of the ‘bluvi’. He’d had temper before and it was always a good one to wind down on after a long day. He had to agree that it did have a bit of a bitter twang to it and when she mentioned that the flavor of what she was smoking was smoother it intrigued him even further. Drugs were as temperamental as women; if the batch wasn’t made correctly it could have ill effects or wasn’t very effective. Getting a clean hit was almost as good as finding a good lover. Sometimes even better. The best if mixed together.

Blue eyes gazed as she took another long pull from the pipe, the inhale long and slow, the exhale just as smooth. She then held the pipe out toward him. Moving against the warm waters he reached out and plucked the pipe from his fingers. It was long and wooden, the herbs smoldering in the bowl, tendrils of smoke wafting over the surface of the water.

He gave a small chuckle, “No I’m not sick, are you?” He gave a shrug and took a pull off the lip. It was indeed very sweet. Smoke rolled around in his mouth and over his tongue as he drew it into his lungs. Not wanting to hog the pipe he reached back out toward her to hand it back so that she could have another pull.

A soft burn in his lungs told him that the smoke was swirling as he let it a breath out and a white cloud surrounded his face as he released. Water swished around his body as he moved slowly waiting for the effects of the bluvi. During the wait he commented, “understandable, not everything is for everyone. I have a little temper here from time to time. If you’re interested perhaps we could meet again under less.. revealing.. circumstances and have a nice drink and smoke.” The corner of his mouth turned up, giving her a smile.

“Ah yeah you can just call me whatever, it doesn’t really matter,” He gave a soft chuckle as it reminded of the many various names he’d been given by people. “Saej,” he tested the name out on his tongue pulling again from the pipe, passing it back again, “I like that.” He did indeed like the name. It was unique and had an earthy sound to it.

She mentioned that the pipe had a name and that cause him to smile again. He’d had a pipe a long time ago and he’d named it. Although he didn’t have it any longer, his father finding it in with his things and breaking it to prove a point. “I promise I will make sure not to drop it, but perhaps I could get you another bowl anyway sometime,” he didn’t realize that he’d kept trying to make plans with her until after he made the last comment. What was he doing? He never made plans.

A calmness had settled over him and he felt wonderfully relaxed. He wasn’t sure if it was the effects from smoking, the warm waters surrounding his body or the company of the spirited woman across from him. He… actually enjoyed her company. It was different and unlike most women. She just seemed more like him than any of the other frumpy and frivolous women he usually met. Her calm teasing attitude was refreshing.

“So other than smoking and relaxing in the hot springs what do you like to do for fun?”

“Me? Sick? Nah, I haven’t been sick in a long time surprisingly. Though it burns when I pee, is that a bad sign?”

She was being rather candid, probably because she was nervous. It wasn’t him personally so much as, how Sebastian put it, the revealing circumstances. But this was… neat. It was certainly new and Saej loved trying new things. Plus, if her intuition was correct, she met a pretty interesting guy here already so things weren’t all that bad. Saej was always happy to share a bowl with someone.

“No, no! You toke on it, be my guest. Snilla could use a new habit to feed. It’s good luck or something.” So long as he didn’t drop it in the water, that is.

He offered for them to meet again. A bit soon into the conversation wasn’t it? She would have to warn him.

“I dunno, I could be an axe murderer or a true loon. You never know.” Mildly deflective, but in truth she wouldn’t mind seeing him again. He was handsome. And NOW he was offering to buy a new pipe for her. Saej narrowed her eyes at him, what was he playing at? Men, unearthly creatures. ‘What a strange man.’ She thought as she absent mindedly kicked her legs in the water. Even though she was simply wearing her skivvies underneath a thin blanket, she wasn't cold. Her seat and the warmth radiating from the springs was enough, coupled by the blanket blocking the wind from her bare skin.

“Really? That’s so nice of you, I guess, I really don’t need one though. Temper would suit me just fine. What about tomorrow, we could meet up in the Basilika. I like to go there and smoke and listen to people. Do you live in the Okomo Estates perhaps? I’m surprised I haven’t run into you before.” Okomo Estates was a pretty tight knit community, but she could have missed him. Maybe he was a night person, as so many people in this city were. She did her business by day, so who knew what others lived at the Estates.

“Personally, for fun, I like to garden. It’s also what I do, I work as one, though this season is tough for gardening. I’ve been hiding inside away from all the snow as much as I can. Which isn't often, sadly. I'm shoveler number one at the Estates. I also have a cat. He’s pretty fun. What about you? Surely voyeurism can’t be your only hobby.”

She smiled, sticking her hand out for the pipe. It was her turn.

Her answer had him chuckling, “Well I hope that’s not the case!” He pulled on the pipe, the effects already swirling within his mind, calming him. Saej was right on the effects, it was very similar and the taste was actually more preferable, almost sweet. It was a time that he’d chalk down as a good one in his book of experiences.

Running a hand through his hair he scratched the back of his neck with the free hand. “True. true. And I may be just as crazy,” he winked at her. Thankfully he didn’t get the vibe that she was either of those things but then you could never be sure, only time would tell him the truth. Another pull from the pipe, he tapped the side of the bowl gently with a nail to stir the contents and settle the fresher pieces to the bottom.

“Basilika sounds nice,” he eyes narrowed, focusing on her flaming red hair that’d slowly begun to take on a soft glow and flow gently on it’s own accord without breeze to fan it. The curls in them were fascinating. “I haven’t been there in ages. I suppose it’s mostly because I’d never really had a reason.” She mentioned where he lived and that she’d not seen her at the Estates. He’d not ever remember seeing her there as well but then he wasn’t really one to stay at home much. Never had been.

“I’m not usually there much, other than to sleep or change clothing. Maybe that’s why?” He shrugged, the weight of the movement more aware than natural. “I’d have to say this season is probably the least of my favorites. I don’t mind it but I prefer a slightly warmer temperature, though not too hot.” Cocking his head to the side he had to think on her question. What were his hobbies?

“I enjoy a nice stiff drink but other than that… I don’t really know. I guess I’ve never really thought about it. I mean, I enjoy my work to a degree but it wasn’t something that I had planned for myself,” he waved off that conversation, it was starting to hit a little too close to home. Strangers always seemed to have a way of pulling information out that wasn’t intended to be spoken. When it had come to people getting close he’d shut down. It was a bad habit he knew but one that he didn’t see as an issue, yet.

Pulling a final time on the pipe, he released the smoke letting the tendrils crawl over the already steaming surface of the water. He handed Snilla back, “Thanks for sharing. I’ll have to say it is some pretty good stuff, you weren’t wrong on that.” His hands free and not having to worry about putting out the embers he scooped up some of the warm water running it over his face. The remains were slicked back through his hair, sticking it to his head.

He felt as slightly guilty, going to her to just have a smoke, but was glad that he did because it gave him a chance to talk to her. She seemed pretty chill, like he was. “I’m going to go finish cleaning up,” he looked down at the grease and grime that clung to parts of his body and back to her, “let’s meet at the Basilika? Around… noon bell? If not that’s cool too… it was nice to have someone to hang out for a bit.” He gave her the have cocked smile again, a slightly dimple popping on his cheek, as he moved back to his things.

Moving back to his area he grabbed the soap, scrubbing down, letting the bluvi settle and roll. Once finished he lay back to let the water wash away the suds at will. His eyes focused on the smattering of stars and Leth’s light. It had been awhile since he’d been this relaxed and was grateful to Saej that she’d decided to share.
