Cognar Wardan |
Appearance Race: Akalak Gender: Male Age: 32 Birthday: 68th day, Winter, 483. Birthplace: Riverfall Appearance: 6'4, 190 lbs. Velvet navy-blue skin and gold eyes. Usually dressed in traditional Akalak leathers. Character Concept Cognar is the lighter brother. Friendly and open, he's always curious about his surroundings and the history of his people. Although he chose to travel, he is proud of the Akalak achievements in archeology, and the sense of order and purpose his people have maintained in Riverfall. He values knowledge for its own sake and community for brotherhood and shared purpose. As the more optimistic, long-term thinker of the two brothers, he's seeking adventures that will yield knowledge of ancient secrets and new possibilities for his people. Wardan is more suspicious of strangers, and more of a short-term tactical thinker. Like many Akalak, he trains seriously to be prepared for combat, but places more of an emphasis on stealth than most Akalak warriors. He values lessons from the lore of Akajia: working from the shadows to move and act unseen and unexpected; respectful of the unlimited mysteries that remains unknown. He continues serious training both armed and unarmed. Less patient than his brother, he becomes frustrated when he feels their lives are lacking purpose. When he senses danger or aggression approaching, he may preempt Cognar's more trusting nature. From day to day, Wardan is never happier than when committing his skills and instincts to a larger purpose set by Cognar. They intended to sire children at some point, but as Sevatal their most significant relationships will continue to be with other Akalak males. Character History As a child, Cognar was the lazy, mischievous one. He learned lessons quickly but was often singled out for his lack of discipline. Wardan was more diligent, committed to training with and without the lakan. As his skills grew, he became eager to put them to some purpose - with other Akalak boys, he and Cognar would scout the plains around Riverfall noting any unusual tracks. Wardan in particular showed a typical Akalak enthusiasm for sparring and physical training, but it was Cognar's curiousity and powers of observation and Wardan's stealth that set them apart. While scouting, they would often slip away from the group to observe Focused on Akalak combat training during childhood, scouting plains surrounding riverfall - more agile, stealthy, than some Akalak. After they and a few brothers succeeded in their Glassbeak trial, the brothers became braver, venturing out alone more and more often to learn the routes of the Run across the sea of grass. Several times Wardan convinced Cognar to venture into the Hymnal Caverns, moving quietly through the darkness. A few times they ventured deep enough that light dimmed even to their sharp Akalak night vision. Now nearly adults, they've set out to learn what other worlds are hidden beneath the everyday surface of Mizahar. Cognar has learned the discipline to put Wardan's skills to the service of the pursuit of knowledge. They volunteered to provide security to a trading ship in exchange for passage to Alvadas, and then the long ride across the Unforgiving. Wardan enjoyed the dangers of the journey. Cognar was pleased to discover new terrain, but more pleased to arrive in Lhavit, eager to browse its famed Bharani Library. Language Fluent Language: Tukant Basic Language: Common Skills
