So, It's Winter Again

14th of Winter 515AV
Riverside Isle Park

It wasn't so bad a place, Riverside Isle Park, so long as you didn't look much further than the park itself. Granted, she'd never been by during the winter, where it was difficult not to look past the nearby greenery, but Amilyn only blinked and deliberately passed over Dalagner's burnt and rotting eyesore of a mansion. Idly, she wondered whether it would be possible to bring the place down, but there were probably Daggerhands keeping an eye on it or something to prevent just that.

Turning away from the sight, Amilyn glanced around as she continued onward. There weren't many people out and about right now, but there were some people searching for something on the ground. She figured it was probably for the Slag Heap Fire; she'd heard it was in danger of burning out and there was just something about it that called to Sunberthians. Even Amilyn had been a bit concerned when she'd heard the news, though she'd left the search for flammable things to others.

On a whim, she plucked a stone from the gravel path and weighed it in her palm, tossing it up in the air after a moment's consideration. She caught it and tossed it again, catching it once more before a thought struck her. Could someone skip a rock on the wading pool?

She looked at the stone in her hand and then turned down the path towards the pool. May as well give it a try.

So, It's Winter Again

Postby Lo'campo on January 14th, 2016, 6:07 pm

The sound of the man struggling has ceased. His muscles started to relax though they still moved with small convulsions. Lo'campo tightened his hold around the mans neck. He might as well got the mos he could out of this kill. It wasn't he style. He was more of the bloody, slashy, torture, broken bone and screams of murder kind of guy. This...this was more of a quite slow death. In a sense he kinda felt bad for snakes that had to kill by constriction. It just took the fun out of the whole thing. The man's arms dropped finally after who knows how many chimes. His eyes bulged out of his head. And there was a large ring around his neck where the akalak had his massive arm.

Lo'campo let the man's body drop with a thud as he began searching the man's pockets before he heard footsteps heading for his direction. Quickly shoving what ever his hands landed on, he propped the man's body up against the wall to make it seem as if he were sleepy, or just plain drunk. This is why he hated winter. He had to take all these extra precautions. More work less play it seemed for him. There was also a higher risk of him being caught in the act. This was the city of the lawless, people did die everyday, mostly from his had but still. He was pretty sure no one wanted their family or friend brought to death by him of all people. Straightening his robe and patting his loot in his pocket, he stepped out not seeing the very short person walking perpendicular to his path as his large arm nearly took the little person to the ground. "Sorry about that. You ok?" He asked extending his hand in apology.

So, It's Winter Again

Postby Amilyn on January 14th, 2016, 11:44 pm

She...wasn't exactly paying much attention to the path ahead of her, more focused on tossing and catching her rock as she walked, so when a big wall of blue suddenly appeared in front of her, she nearly ran into it. Or, well, would have almost, if there hadn't been a patch of ice right where she tried to brace herself. Her feet went one way, her balance the other, and before she'd even managed to figure out what had gone wrong, Amilyn hit the ground.

"Owww."

She laid there for a moment, blinking up at the sky as her back protested its sudden meeting with the ground. The very cold ground, she noticed, immediately moving to push herself upright.

"Sorry about that. You ok?"

...there was a blue hand in front of her. Amilyn stared at it for a moment, before trailing her gaze up to the owner of the hand, who was also blue. And very tall. Very tall. They also had blue eyes, which she idly thought might have been a bit too much blue for any one person, but she supposed it wasn't like they'd had a choice in it.

"More or less." She grinned up at them as she grabbed the outstretched hand to lever herself to her feet, her free hand automatically gesturing No worries. "My back and rear are definitely gonna be complaining about it, but no harm done."

This guy was really tall. Even though Amilyn was now standing again, they still towered over her by two or three heads. It actually made her a bit uneasy because this person was huge and they looked like they definitely knew how to fight, which could be...really bad for her.

She stepped back, both so she wouldn't have to crane her neck to look the guy in the face and to give herself a bit of distance, and then glanced in the direction they came from. "Where'd you come from anyway? I thought most people would be sticking closer to the Commons or searching for stuff to put on the Heap Fire, 'stead of wandering around here." Only curious was the accompanying gesture.

So, It's Winter Again

He had turned to see who had exactly ran into him, but now faced the question more as of what did. It looked like a man..until it spoke. He tried to carry on the conversation without the look of confusion upon his face, though he was pretty sure that it showed pretty hard. He was in a trance like state, contemplating to whether he should address this person as miss or sir. So deep in this trance that he had not heard them speaking thus making himself seem more off than the average person. "Oh, um" He spoke nearly stuttering over his own words.

Where did he come from? His head looking in each direction trying to figure out where he was first of all, as well as trying to find a decent lie that would not bring any suspicion to what he was doing. "Ha, I don't know really, I guess I was just walking without paying attention to where I was going. Lo'campo" He introduced himself, as he gestured his hand to introduce himself. He gave a quick glance of the persons body to see if he could find any clues or certain features that would help him determine a gender, nothing.

"So what are you doing out so far?" He asked attempting to keep the conversation going. He hadn't realized that this was really far out from where he usually did his "business". He mus have gotten turned around somewhere and didn't really notice until now. He blamed the petching snow, it made everything look the same. It messed with his sense of direction. Why did it have no snow in Sunberth anyways. "I don't indulge myself with things like that." He replied speaking on why he wasn't looking for firewood for the Heap Fire. He didn't have anything against it, it just wasn't he kind of thing to do in his spare time. Walking around looking for pieces of wood to put onto a fire. It seemed unproductive.

"So what's your reason?" he asked switching the question around.

So, It's Winter Again

This guy...was looking very confused and seemed to be somewhat distracted, though Amilyn wasn't entirely sure why. They also didn't seem to know which way they'd come from, which was a little funny, considering the guy's size probably should've left a decent-sized trail, but all the snow everywhere did tend to make everything look really similar.

She nodded at his response and then tilted her head to the side to look curiously up at him, as she introduced herself. "Amilyn." His name sounded familiar from somewhere, but she couldn't quite figure out where, at the moment...

She shook the thought out of her head and refocused on Lo'campo, who was talking again.

"Understandable," she replied, referring to his statement about the Heap Fire. Clearly, she hadn't been interested in helping out with that either, what with her hands empty of all but a rock.

"This is far?" She shot him a lopsided grin and shrugged. "I was just thinking and it's pretty quiet out here, 'specially now that it's so cold." She then raised her hand with the stone in it. "Of course, then I thought, there's a pool here right? If it hasn't frozen over, is it big enough to skip a rock across?"

She hesitated for a moment, eyeing Lo'campo critically. He was still really, really big and that was still a bit nervewracking, but he also seemed decent enough. And, worse come to worse, it wasn't like she wasn't armed.

"If you're not busy, wanna come with?"

Amilyn. That was a woman's name, which meant that this was just a woman who looked like a man. The confirmation of gender relaxed him a bit now that he knew what he was conversing with. His face relaxed a bit, the look of confusion and distrust slowly leaving his face. He didn't have a problem with who or what she was. It would just have been good to know for respectable purposes. The Akalak recalled the last time he had mistaken a woman for a man, the sting from the slap she had given him all those years ago starting to resurface upon his skin.

Amilyn like he had wished to not involve herself in searching for wood as well. That was one of the few things he did not understand about the Sunberthian culture. This was a city filled with scum, the worst of the worst, and one of the few things that could bring them together as a whole was to search for wood to feed a fire. Just the thought of it confused him. His eyebrows raised at her notion of this not being too far. He was sure he was a long ways from the quarter. Did he wander back towards home without realizing it? He wasn't too sure. Maybe she just liked to walk a lot and this was nothing for her.

Eyes moved down to look at her hand that presented a rock. His blue ears listened to her tell her story of how she walked all this way to see if the water was not frozen so she could skip rocks. It was then that he started to wonder if this person had lost a few rocks of her own. But any the less he had accepted her offer to join her. It wouldn't hurt to do something fun for a change, though he never skipped rocks himself, he was pretty sure that it wouldn't be as hard as he thought. Taking a step back, he motioned for her to lead the way.

So, It's Winter Again

This...may have been a bad idea.

Lo'campo apparently wasn't much of a talkative guy, since he hadn't actually said all that much in response to her commentary, but there was no way she was going to put her back to him so soon. Instead, she gestured this way down the path she was pretty sure led to the pool and only started walking when he did.

"It's just down this way, I think. Shouldn't be too much further."

Amilyn made sure to keep some space between them as they walked, but she didn't bother playing with the rock in her hand anymore. It would split her attention too much when there was a stranger to be cautious around, though he'd made a decent first impression. Still, she wasn't much for walking in silence when there was someone to talk to. Besides, she was curious and it wouldn't hurt to ask some questions, right?

She eyed Lo'campo in a considering manner and then admitted that it might, but she wouldn't know until she tried.

"Sooo." She dragged the word out, watching Lo'campo out of the corner of her eye. "Is the big and blue typical for you or is it just a Lo'campo thing?"

Depending on how he responded, she'd get a better idea of what sort of limits the guy had, which would hopefully help with the not-accidentally-pissing-him-off thing. Assuming he was laidback enough not to immediately take offense, at least.

So, It's Winter Again

Postby Lo'campo on February 20th, 2016, 6:50 am

He followed behind the woman who accepted him as her student to teach the art of skipping rocks. He noticed that she struggled to keep the distance between them, her shorter legs moving surprisingly quick to beat his long striding legs from catching up to her.

She was nervous, he could tell. He'd been close enough to a many of people to tell when someone was nervous of his presence. Eyes shifty, sweat trickles, even the occasional jitters would make it obvious that they were uncomfortable being around him. He couldn't blame the woman though. There she was looking up at someone of his size, and the black robe didn't help his appearance either. If anything one could say that he resembled Dira, if she were a blue man.

There was a question, he had half way heard it but could still make out what she had asked. Something about him always being big and blue. It confused him a bit. Was this some bad attempt at an Akalak joke or was she really being serious. "Heh, I guess i've always been big and blue." he joked back thinking that she was trying to soften the atmosphere. "I was so big and blue that they thought I was a dying human when I was first conceived" Oh boy was he bad at telling jokes. He had practiced with the orphans at times, but hadn't really gotten things down pact yet. He was still trying to figure out what road this so called chicken crossed, and why.

He tried thinking of something else to say that would kill the silence in the air. To put fear into her heart was not his intentions. He actually would enjoy having a friend for once. Someone to skip rocks with to pass the time, instead of wondering aimlessly and killing people. "So tell me about yourself." He chimed trying to sound as friendly as possible. He removed his head from his hood, letting his steel colored hair fall back in a wave of silver. The first step to making friends was to relax and make the person feel as if they could be comfortable around you. So he changed his strides to slower steps with a loosened posture so he didn't look as if he were charging after the woman. A smile on his face to greet her with.
