A Isur and a Half

45th of Winter, 515 AV

Irathia walked through the streets of Syliras, the small sound of coins in a small satchel that bounced against her leg with every step. Today she planned on browsing or requesting a hammer, a much bigger one. She was going through the options in her head, all the ones Ophelia told her at least. War hammers, Great Hammers, Stone crushers... Choices all to choose from. All of them could "fit" Irathia, according to Ophelia. What materials can she even choose for her hammer anyways? Irathia assumed that who ever was at this "Iron Works" could tell her and help her.

She entered the building, softly closing the door behind her... She didn't like slamming the door, seemed... Violent? She preferred to be gentle around things that seem that they should be treated that way, like doors for instance. Irathia slowly turned around and walked up to the counter, she studied the weapons on display with curiosity. She smiled slightly at the sight of all of them.

She cleared her throat slightly, letting anyone that knew that heard her that she was around, sense she didn't slam the door closed like she presumed other customers would. She was sort of excited, this was her first time doing something like this and she can get another hammer she can call her own, other than the one she stole from Xy, of course.

Irathia began to ponder what the hammer would be made out of, so many choices and so many things... a bone or Ivory handle would be cool, though it could possibly break or something... Maybe she could got straight up normal hammers instead of adding anything fancy to the hammer. Slightly boring if she went with that route though. She shook her head and prepared for the employee to come.

A Isur and a Half

Postby Terag on February 18th, 2016, 5:57 am

Terag stretched some before returning to his work. Humming another song that he thought fit his people and muttering under his breath as he sharpened a spear head on the grindstone.

"Spin the stone, sharpen the blade
Spin your wheel, sharpen the mind

Grind out the imperfections, work out the kinks
Go until you're whole again, until you're perfect"

The song continued on for a bit longer, getting a little louder until he stopped abruptly at the sound of a woman clearing her throat. Terag looked up from his work to see Irathia waiting on the other side of the counter. With a smile he lifted a hand, showing Irathia that he saw her. He got up and quickly set the dagger to the side on a table before approaching the counter. Terag did his best to smile warmly to the customer, while he took note of her.

She was maybe a few inches shorter than him at most, almost as if she was an Isurian herself. It couldn't be true, due to her tanned skin. And her strikingly blue eyes made the idea seem even stranger. He hadn't noticed her arm, at least not yet. Terag set his left arm onto the counter, the onyx black skin of his arm glinted a bit. He always made sure to show off his arm just a bit when he got the chance, though it was in good fun and he kept smiling.

"Hello miss, how can I help you?" His accent was beginning to wane, but it was still obvious he was from elsewhere than Syliras. "Are you looking for a weapon today? Or perhaps a piece of armor? I can help you with both, just let me know what you need and I will make sure it is made. Provided you have the coin, but that can be discussed later."

A Isur and a Half

Postby Irathia on February 18th, 2016, 6:15 am

Irathia stared at the onyx colored skin in front of her as the Isur showed it off. Irathia felt her self close the cloak more... Her jaw tightened and her eyes darted upward to meet the isur's eyes. Irathia stepped back a little bit as she was conflicted on what to do, would her master's word be true if he figured out her secrets? Irathia didn't want to die...

She shook her head and puched back her hair with her "normal" arm, the arm with out the tan on it. She began to focus again and decided the master's word was a lie, only another fairy tale that she told to prevent her from leaving slavery. She closed her eyes and thought for a moment, going through what to say and how to hide the fear that still was in her.

"Yes, hello... I am looking for a new hammer?" Irathia said, her voice was small and timid, and when she said hammer her voice cracked a tiny bit.

Irathia felt like the isur knew that she was afraid, and that scared her even more. "Excuse me, just a bit shaken up." She said, as she avoided eye contact with the Isur, appearing to look at all the weapons and armor. "This is my first time doing something like this, so if you can..." Just spit it out! Irathia thought. "Help me, that would be great." You made that more painful than it actually was. Irathia thought to her self, preparing to talk to the isur.

A Isur and a Half

Terag was confused for a moment, the woman's actions made it seem as if she was scared. The step back and her nervous eyes at the very least seemed to be telling of that. He figured that he might have been too forward, or done something else that upset the woman. He tried to soften is tone some before speaking again to the woman. She had been so timid and shy that Terag had still yet to notice her teeth.

"A hammer hmm? That is quite easy. We have quite a few that you can choose from. What do you need it for? For work we have normal hammers and sledgehammers, though the later can be used to fight if you need to." Terag paused for a moment as he tried to remember the others. "We also have light hammers, something small enough that you can throw in battle. A warhammer fits into one hand, provided you have the strength to wield it, and it has a point to pierce armor and grab shields even if you need it. If you want something bigger still we have a greathammer as well? It is more like a warhammer, just bigger. You need two hands for it, yeah? Or if you have something special in mind we can hand craft you something unique even."

As Terag spoke he walked around the counter, doing his best to stay at least a foot away from the woman in case he really had upset her. As he listed off each of the three weapons he pulled them off the wall and set them on the counter in front of the woman.

A Isur and a Half

Postby Irathia on February 18th, 2016, 10:39 pm

Irathia regained her composer, "Yes, I am getting a hammer for combat. I am a squire." She said, she intertwined her fingers and shifted her weight. She was trying to decide if it was okay to go up and try them... She was trying to decide if she should go up and try the hammers weight and feel...

"May I hold them... Sir?" Irathia voice fully recovered, she sounded bored but she was still sort of panicing... The fact that she is actually interacting with a Isur was striking her with fear. She knew that the Master's word was lies, but the constant tales of isur hanging and torturing Zith struck her deep. He even said that Irathia would be slowly killed sense she was a mix of both races...

Irathia was interested in the much bigger hammers, she already has two of the smaller, 'combat' hammers. Which is a bit of a long stretch considering Irathia's first hammer is actually a working hammer that she couldn't leave behind when she escaped. Irathia shook her head again, she noticed she tends to get lost in thought, a lot, ever sense she entered Syliras.

Terag nodded, "Of course, feel free to pick them up and test their weight. It is spacious in here so you can test it but please, be careful. You break anything you must pay to fix it." Terag continued to try to seem nice and give the woman a relaxing atmosphere. He had no idea about her worries and what she was scared about.

He made his way back behind the counter again, making sure to look her over again. Nothing about her seemed immediately threatening, or gave sign that she was going to sprint out the door with the weapons. Even if she did he was sure he could catch her, both due to his fitness of being an Isur and the fact that all the weapons were quite weighty and awkward to run with.

"Do you have anything else that you're interested in? Perhaps a mace or some of our other blunt weapons?" As he spoke he kept trying to discern exactly what the girl was. Her skin and accent were foreign to him, though then again so were just about all the people in Syliras. If she was a squire though she must be safe at the very least.

A Isur and a Half

Postby Irathia on February 19th, 2016, 3:42 am

Irathia picked up the great hammer, she spun it around and bounced it. It was quiet heavy and hard to hold, she was afraid if she picked it up and swung it around, she might let go by accident and send the heavy weapon flying into something expensive. She felt like she would not even be able to afford a weapon like this, a lot of Mizas might go into something like this... Let alone being able to make it hers in her own way.

"As long as it isn't a sword or axe like weapon, I am fine browsing." Irathia said, picking up the war hammer. This weapon was more like the ones she was used to. This time she swung side to side, and did a over head strike. She smiled lightly, making sure not to show her teeth as she bounced the hammer... She then began to frown as she placed it back on the counter.

"May you show me other blunt weapons?" Irathia asked, she began to feel more comfortable around this Isur. It seems that the tales were completely false... So far, at least... Irathia tried to return the friendly nature by putting on a fake smile, a small one, but a smile still. She took her non-tinted hand and pushed her hair back.

Terag watched as the woman tested the weapons, he was worried little about her breaking things regardless. The Ironworks made enough to fix it, but it was more about the principal than anything. Either way she proved that she could at least hold a weapon and not break everything in sight. When she mentioned she was fine browsing Terag took a moment to try to remember all the weapons she might be interested, something used in a similar way to a hammer on the field.

"Yes I can definitely show you what else we have in stock and I can always tell you more about what we have." Terag tried to smile back at Irathia, making his smile ever so slightly goofier in an attempt to get a genuine smile from her. There was something off with the way she moved. Something forced, and the fact he had only seen one arm so far was a little strange but he left. People had many reasons to hide parts of themselves, and many of those reasons did not involve Terag.

After several chimes of Terag walking back and forth behind the counters and to the displays he had piled a small collection of weapons in front of the girl, letting the weapons be shown down the counter. He half wondered if the girl would actually ever show her other arm before he started listen off the weapons he had brought out, "Well, we have a light and heavy mace, a morningstar, a few flails and a practice tonfa. We also have a rock crusher for you but these are really heavy." It took Terag visible effort to lift the hammer from against the far wall and bring it closer to the girl. He set the head of the weapon on the floor and leaned the shaft against the counter. "It is good for building strength, yes? Just, awkward for now."

A Isur and a Half

Postby Irathia on February 20th, 2016, 2:40 am

Irathia smiled back, actually enjoying the Isur's smile... Though she still remained to hide her teeth and second arm, still extremely worried about the whole tales thing the master would tell her. She was surprised by all the weapons she could choose that are not swords... She picked up the flail with her none tinted hand. It was interesting.

She shrugged after swinging it a little bit, and placed it back. The tonfa just flat out looked odd, where was she even supposed to grip the thing? It looked like it had two handles in a way. She picked up and stared at it as she turned and stared at it... This thing was a weapon? It looked like some one just grabbed a stick and decided to call it a weapon.

"How exactly am I supposed to use this..." She mumbled to her self as she placed it back down on the counter. "It is like someone tried to call a stick a weapon." She joked.

A Isur and a Half

Terag chuckled a bit at the girl's question. It wasn't an uncommon for a client to be confused by some weapons. As a blacksmith he at least had the time to learn how to hold the weapons that were sold, although he had no real proficiency with them. He picked up the second practice tonfa by the small handle coming off of the weapon. He held it so the long part of the weapon followed his arm and the smaller part extended past his hand.

"You hold it like this, you can use it to punch someone." By example he punched straight forward, slightly to the side so the girl could see. "The point extending past my hand is used to hit. Where as this long part," Terag motioned towards the long part of the weapon, "is used for defense in this position. You can also spin it outwards to strike an opponent as well." He spun the weapon in his hand now, letting the long part of the weapon strike out in front of him before returning back towards his arm. "And that, is all I know about how to use the weapon. We do not usually teach how to use weapons here, just sell them unfortunately." Terag smiled a bit more, more genuine this time. He was most comfortable having these sorts of conversations, and he was far enough away from the girl that he needent worry about anything else.
