Tent of the Patrons The Drykas are called the Children of the Wind; the sons and daughters of Zulrav. It’s also no secret that they view Semele as their sacred mother for she housed them in her womb during the Valterrian. While many gods and goddesses are worshipped, revered and respected on the sweeping plains of grass, these two deities hold a special place in the heart of all Drykas. Because of this, there is a monument that has been dedicated to the celestial parents of the horse clans. Long ago, someone found a large rock and fashioned it into a sphere that is too big for one man to lift alone. A simple carving was etched onto the center where a knot intertwines the symbols of Zulrav and Semele. The stone, called the Ola Pohaku (Life Rock), is seated on a carved piece of wood that also holds four trays of chalk paint; white, blue, green and brown. When a child is born, the parents come and wipe a fingertip of paint on the rock; blue for boys and white for girls. When a person dies, the spouse or surviving family come and do the same thing. The death of a man is marked with brown where women use green. Over time, the shape gradually changes and the size has slowly increased from layer upon layer of paint. The Keeper Age: 63 Description: The Keeper is a man who wears many faces. He is joyful and pleasant when new parents arrive to sky paint to the shrine. When someone comes to add the colors of earth, his face becomes long and reveals his age. He always has a story to share and is often called upon to 'bless' children. He has no holy or divine powers but will placate the people. He has seen so much in his life that he is surprised by little. The Keeper uses the auras of people to give them sage advice for raising their children or how to best deal with the grief they face. Skills: Philtering – 63, Storytelling – 61, Auristics – 55 |
